Silent footsteps led up to the large double doors of the library. It appears that no one is inside, Zaunithe noted casually. No light was shed from the interior, so it was safe to assume that a student could study in comfort and peace. The white mage turned a golden handle and pushed the door open. With a wave of his hand, a few candles at one table were automatically lit, the flames softly flickering in the dim light as the shadows dance along the walls.

Making his way towards a shelf, Zaunithe browsed the selection of books. He needed to find something... what that something was, he wasn't quite sure. His previous encounter with that strange voice (Whatever it was) at the beach had really made him think-- what else was there for him to do? How much more training must he go through before rightfully saying that he has mastered the element of light?

True, the Yellow had heard of the power of a White. One who had mastered the light had the unfailable ability to read the minds of others, seeing their most internal thoughts and emotions. The highest level of white jewels could also heal any sort of wound-- from fatal slashes to absolutely horrid burns. This interested Zaunithe greatly. But he was far from being accomplishing his goals. What could he do now with his yellow gem? That's what he planned to find out.

((From Le Room de Pratice...))

Roma entered the library the old fashioned way with a selection of flowers tucked under her bandaged arm. They were all the same dismal color of a grayish white, almost blending in the snow while she hand picked them in the garden. She wasn't sure why, but after seeing how attached Yaz was to the flowers the white figured that something must be special about them in potion making, or so she hoped. Zaunithe was the first thing that caught her attention as she sat down at a near by table. He was deep in thought, but if the yellow actually noticed her advent mattered not to her. She wasn't in the mood to mess around with people really, especially not after loosing all that energy to healing two people fully and completely.

'I wonder what that boy is pondering in that white haired head of his.' Roma mused as she began flipping through the pages of a newly summoned book titled "Potions and More". "Ah, the sweet corny titles of the Fell library. It never stops amazing me. Eureka!" She has found the page she had been looking for all along and summoned all of the needed materials as she read the procedure. Her eyes wandered over to Zaunithe who was tentatively minding his own business, trying to figure out just what a yellow jewel could do. 'My gosh... Soon I won't have to worry about healing people and maybe get out of this place, especially with two of them well on their way. Yes.'

((Zenith-san has company! ^^))

A nearly silent squeak slipped from the door, as Roma entered the library, seating herself at a table. It had been quite a while since Zaunithe had last seen the mage. Of course, little did he know that she had already been promoted to a white jewel... until now anyway. Whether the gem promoted the girl or some higher power acknowledged the jewel to change, few would ever find out. But all the same, Zaunithe grew curious... very curious. And curiousity killed the cat. Yet, the boy was no average cat-- his cunning tact and wit had saved him numerous times during his life.

The yellow placed a book back on the shelf, gently sliding it where he had found it. Books were a great source of information when one knew where to search. But Zaunithe had been here many times-- thousand of times, it seemed. More than simply once or twice, he had browsed through countless shelves, looking for the information he desired, skimming the books, page by page. For the most part, the white mage discovered that the books of Fell tended to change, revealing only what they wished to reveal. Apparently, some books only showed themselves to certain people. Strange, indeed. But it seemed true enough.

"Roma-san..." Zaunithe began, approaching the table. He bowed his head slightly in a polite manner. She appeared tired in the least, as if she had just spent a massive amount of energy healing, honing her skills or whatnot, but it was probably best if the yellow didn't press the matter. "I have not seen you in a long while. How have you been faring?"

Roma didn't acknowledge him at first, actually, she had almost forgotten that Zaunithe was in the room at that present time. She was still dazed from the whole knocked out incident, and then having to heal Yaz and Emilie on top of that; it was a wonder she could actually summon all of these things with little effort. 'I'd rather have my head stuck in a gopher hole...' "Roma-san... I have not seen you in a long while. How have you been faring?" "Hah, first Syras and now you. We aren't in Japan..." Roma laughed and scratched the back of her head in thought. "Yes, a long time. I believe I was a tiger-eye when we last clashed with Yazzeh at this exact same table as we taught the young Summer Sky Akarui how to study properly in the great library of Fell. But look at us now, you and Akarui are on the verge of white and I've already made it there." 'But as for personal matters quiet boy, I cannot say it's all been dandy. I was ripped apart, mentally violated, controlled, and I almost died three times. Now, if that isn't a track record worthy of the reincarnation hall of fame then I don't know what else is.'

"But as for you, well I can answer that one without having you saying anything. During that period of who knows how long you went running in and out of the library and your dorm study trying to figure out the mysteries of Fell. A spirit of Fell contacted you in the garden speaking of a sundial, and then right after you had a run in with that bastard Daxx and Zayreih who is just as bad from what I can tell. Periya met you in the library and had a sudden outburst calling you things after a black tome permanently damaged her leg. That left you to swim in your own dark thoughts and you pondered on some of your memories because of said outburst. After all of that you went to the ocean and yet another spirit of Fell contacted you and following that you cured the vampire Yasmin Nolite after she became drunk. During all of these incidents you were always pondering, something. Always thinking over the big picture and trying to find your meaning in this place. And it's all in your..."

Roma scooted back her chair and walk around the table and sat next to Zaunithe. She poked his forehead that was covered by hair of the most curious color. "...head. Your memory banks are like an open book to me and soon mine and many others will be opened to you until they can learn to properly protect them with guards. But like the a dam those can be broken and the water will spill out all over the place in a watery mess." She stood back up and sat down in her original spot. "And when that happens, and all that is said is done, I will no longer have an obligation to save all of Fell's physical and mental wounds on my own, and others will be able to aid me in this damned job. And possibly, I will be free to pursue other things that I find may be more important to the existence of this Abyss." Then the things that bound her to this place would be broken and she and others could return to their lives back on earth in peace, a place where more than ten or fifteen people lived and the seas did not confine them.

"But there is one kind of thought that cannot be opened to me, one that is so deep that it would take hours to even brush against. It are those distant memories that even the owner cannot recall and see. Be it from their lives back on earth, or even possibly, from past lives they once lived." Her brown eyes dug deep into Zaunithe's as she said that, trying to find a reaction. "And, I know that this has been bothering me a whole lot. I know that I've been reincarnated, over twenty centuries, all for the same purpose, to serve and army. Yet I was feared, even at a young age... My first form was famously sinister and I don't know why. I've heard the tails, but I cannot believe it. So I'll try to remember, one life at a time- That's what this potion is for before you ask any questions. And yes, I'm tired, I just healed two people from death and it's tiring. I should be sleeping, but I'm restless. I'll have to make something to fix that dozy too." She muttered to herself and began reading from the text once again in attempt to figure out what it all meant or how it worked. This was a more complicated potion.

((Rambles are fun!))

Zaunithe had the sudden desire to sweatdrop. Roma-san apparently liked to talk, that, she did. And she had certainly grown in the past few weeks, months, years, however long it had been since the two last came in contact. Time seemed to fly and drag in Fell, moving quickly by, although not at all. It was quite a strange sensation, actually. The feeling of knowing and realizing how reality is passing, but also discovering new things every day. That was life in the abyss-- always knowing that time goes by faster and faster and never surely understanding why or how. It was just the way things worked.

Heh. The white had nearly mastered her strengths. Her telepathy wasn't lacking one bit, that much was for sure. As a matter of fact, Roma had picked out the paticulars of Zaunithe's escapades quite well... his encounters with the darks, Daxx and Zayreih, the meeting with young Periya in the library, the curing of an intoxicated Yasmin and even the accounts of supernatural spirits/shadows. All events were told with fair details and accuracy. And she was certainly correct about the pondering deal-- Zaunithe constantly brooded whether he realized it or not.

A trigger in the back of his mind twitched ever-so-slightly as Roma eyed him conspicuously, as if she wanted to see the yellow's reaction to the mentioning of pasts. Since the white was highly advanced in mind-reading, she more than likely recognized that Zaunithe was somewhat uncomfortable with this subject, although he remained calm all the same. She continued, telling him about her own past-- no details, but enough for Zaunithe to figure out what kind of life (or lives) she had led before arriving in Fell. Yet... why? He didn't understand why Roma would choose to tell him this.

Then again... he felt the same way in some aspect. His past continuously haunted him, never allowing him any peace. Zaunithe could remember... and sometimes he wished he didn't. But taking from Roma's point of view, he realized that perhaps it was better than he knew. Countless people Zaunithe ran into had only one desire-- to remember. Such a simple process that they could not do, caused them unbelievable amounts of sorrow and pain. Maybe he shouldn't take his lingering memoirs for granted.

Zaunithe glanced over at the potion book Roma was scrutinizing. A potion for recollection... interesting. he thought. "Roma-san," he began. Yes, he knew they weren't in Japan, however, manners and respect still mattered to him. "This may sound rather... trifling, coming from a lower-ranking mage as myself, but shall you need any aid with that potion, I will be glad to lend a hand." If she didn't need any help, he could always go back to his studying. After all, that's what the yellow came here for.

'You may not realize it Zaunithe but I tell you because I've got nothing to hide, and so I tell you these things. "Helping me with this potion will be the best kind of studying you'll probably get. Hands on, it's always the best method." Roma said quietly, turning the book around so the yellow could properly look upon the pages. "You can read the tome, it is for those of tiger-eye level and higher. Yet it took me a while to find it through this huge maze of books." Roma stood up and started to file through the different ingredients. "Zaunithe start to mash up the white flower petals while I extract the moisture from the stems of the remaining flowers." She summoned a small measuring cup filled half way with water. This was the place where they would create the initial mixture, or the base of the potion in which the rest would be formed around.

"I've never really told anyone this Zaunithe, but I have a theory about the jewels and how they work. I've always noticed that as I leveled up I'd feel physically less competent, I'd rely on the magic of the jewel to guide me through the day and help me do things that I should have been able to do in the first place. I find myself becoming frail, as I no longer eat as I should." She paused, beginning to perform the task she had assigned to herself. Roma had put a lot of thought into this little theory, and yet couldn't decide why she was sharing this with the yellow except that he reminded her of many others who always looked for answers but never got them or at least not in time. "We are dependent upon the jewel because it is sapping our own powers.

"When we heal others it takes a toll on us not the jewel, not Fell. Fell is taking our energy and storing it in its roots and the more we grow in our jewel the more it takes and the more it stores. The less and less energy we have to keep sane and act like humans. Our minds start to distort and our physical beings bend under the stress. That's why when I fought Daxx what must have been months ago he had such an advantage over me. I didn't have the internal strength to fight him, and I had forgotten so easily the old skills of fighting that I fumbled all over the place. Daxx was better trained and had only been floating in the land of the dead for only but a few moments I'm guessing, while I was there for a torturing year."

The white chuckled, listening to herself ramble on and on about such things that the yellow may or may not care about. He was confused, and could not easily understand why Roma did the things she did. 'I'm an old kook, she thought to herself silently, 'And sometimes I feel like an old yiayia expecting the kiddies to know about the world and all that are in it, expecting them to be filled in on all that happens but I'm also just a kid. I have only reached my eighteenth year...' "So when a jewel holder dies, all of the power that the abyss held up in their roots is spilled all over the land taking effect on the world around us. And I-" Again Roma paused, and then fell silent. She was saying too much, if someone else were to drop in on their conversation the information she was just about to give out would be worthless, more so than anyone knew.

As Zaunithe began to crush the white blossoms with a mortar and pestle he managed to summon up, he listened to Roma's rather dark philosophy. It seemed possible; perhaps even probable that her theory was correct. Although the loner had not exactly felt an extreme change in his physical or mental abilities, he had not been in an actual fight; neither had he challenged his potential at all. He had mostly taken the time he had to explore the dreary land and study the healing arts. None of those activities were very stressful or complicated, compared to what Roma had experienced on her exploits.

But assuming that the white's theories were true... if she were to disappear from this world altogether, then her magic would be expelled through the realms of Fell, drenching it in pure and heavenly light. On the other hand, should someone like Yaz fall, the already dark land would be embraced by pitch night. At least, this is what Zaunithe assumed Roma meant by unleashing the energy held in the land's roots. When it comes to a balance of power, two forces vying for its own sense of justice, one would assume that if a white mage were lost, the shift of energy would go towards the dark side. Apparently, Roma's philosophies contradict this popular theory. Instead of tipping the scale to the darker side, a loss of white energy would result in a shift to engulfing Fell in complete light. It was quite strange, in Zaunithe's opinion. And even more peculiar, it actually made sense.

A pleasant and fresh smell reached Zaunithe's nose, as he continued to grind the flower petals into a thick mush. The glowing white shades slowly turn into a sort of olive green pasty color from the moisture in the petals. The yellow paused for a second, dabbing the pestle at the mashed up flowers, thinking that the mixture seemed fluid enough-- it still retained a thick consistency. The only way to thin out the mush was to add water now. He set the mortar aside, taking a quick look at the long list of complicated ingredients from the book. Ouch. Not only were most of the items hard to find, but the instructions for the potion was the most complicated recipe Zaunithe had ever seen.

Silence. Roma had been rambling away about her theories so in-depth that she probably forgot exactly who she was talking to and what information she was revealing. Zaunithe understood completely. The two white mages barely even knew each other, although they sometimes seemed to share the same thoughts and feelings. "How do you expect to find these ingredients?" he asked, his soft voice breaking the still quietness. "Indeed some of these are difficult to come upon..." his finger traced a few words on the complicated tome. "And others," the yellow indicated some words on the list a few lines later, "I have never even heard of."

Roma smiled a bit, listening to his very innocent question, that she had answered ages ago it seemed. But she didn't tell him that and instead nodded in understanding. "Yes, it may seem hard at first, but our jewels have magic that even we cannot understand." She summoned up one of the things Zaunithe had pointed to in the book and showed it to him so he could see clearly. "Also, although you never heard of these things before, I am sure that no book in Fell would have an ingredient that does not exist here." She was done squeezing the liquids from the flower stems and then poured them into the main cup of water. Then she looked at the next directions and began shredding apart the ligaments of a frog with care as not to damage the cell tissue.

The white stayed silent for a moment, pondering over her own theories and then what she had overheard from Zaunithe's mind. Heh, Zaunithe, what a funny name. Nothing like she had ever heard on earth, and then, Roma started to wonder if she had heard any of these names on earth. Syras? Akarui? No, that didn't make any sense. And then there was Daxx, and Yaz, and Nicara, and Kiari, or Zayreih? Not common, not at all and frankly it had been bothering her for a while as none of these people have been proven to have odd backgrounds, except for Periya which was actually a word she had heard before, yet Roma couldn't have been sure where. Emilie was French, and it turned out that the girl's real name was Sarah, so that made sense, and her own name, well it was Italian, wasn't it, and Yasmin was common enough...

A verbal laugh escaped her lips. How one's mind could wander off to a different place so easily. But it brought up a good point, were these simply names they had adopted, or was there something wrong with their mother when they granted them a name? 'I had never thought of that before, but I suppose things cannot be always crystal clear, but could I be on some sort of lead?' "Zaunithe, have you ever noticed that those in this abyss have some of the most uncommon names? It interests me some how..."

((This topic was one made between my mother and I as we wondered about the strange names in books.))

((Nice, Roma. ^^ I've never actually thought of the names before... I suppose they are all a bit on the odd side, since we've made them up.))

Names, eh? Zaunithe's mind sparked from Roma's question. She says 'strange names'; I say 'strange topic.' He had never actually thought about this before. It was true... apparently everyone he had met in Fell had surprisingly odd names. Which was... well, odd. In the midst of creating a horribly complicated concoction too. So much for being on task. However, as much as Zaunithe thought this strange, like Roma, he was rather amused by the thought. The few I have met really do retain peculiar namesakes...

"Indeed," the yellow answered. "You are correct... the inhabitants here have the oddest of names. I will admit-- I have never actually thought about this before..." Zaunithe took another peek at the list of ingredients, summoning a few dry leaves from a dead tree. He gathered another mortar and crumbled the dry plants into a fine powder. "Do you suppose there is a trend?" the londer asked, as he continued to work at crushing the brown and tan colored leaves.

There very well may be... a trend, that is. The more he thought about it, the more he came to understand that anything was possible. Everyone's existence in this abyss... it seemed to revolve around life and death. Fell was almost like a haven and oblivion all at the same time. What irony... There was no happiness and little cheer, but what would have become of the inhabitants had they not arrived here? A purgatory-- another chance at life. That was the purpose this place served... or was it?

Would hell really have been worse? Or perhaps better? For someone who had escaped the fiery clutches of the underworld, it was a curious matter. Zaunithe wanted to find out. But at what cost? Certainly not his life-- he had just rescued himself from death. Why gamble his very soul when he could simply live on and forget? Zaunithe's insatiable curiousity tended to lead him to his own doom.

((Roma was an accident, Periya is the phonetic way of saying 'strange' in Greek, and Emilie was picked off Calix's long list of French names. >_>))

"Zaunithe, do not dwell too much on past choices. Do not let such thoughts dance around your mind, and drive you to such a point that your sanity is left on the line." Roma paused, summoning a stretching board and clipping the frog tendons so they would draw tight, before continuing her soft-spoken speech. "Some of the strongest minds have been thrown into turmoil such ways, and others have attempted to risk their lives in order to see if a new, better, one waited them. You are here now, somewhat happy and healthy. Is that not enough?"

Her eyes strayed to the list once more, and she summoned up some leaves much like the yellow had, yet these bright and colorful as was expected in autumn. But that, was a while ago, and now the white was glad she had picked fresh (or however fresh things could get in this place) ingredients, and preserved them in her closet. 'Yet I suppose, my closet isn't the safest place anymore, because of it Periya knows much more than she should...'

"I forgot about that." Roma muttered aloud, recalling the peculiar piece of parchment Periya had loaned her long ago. To speak with her brother who was in the most unwelcome situations, and this made her curious. Surely if Zeik was worried about her just a bit, it would be a good gesture to write back to him. And then, she laughed. "Of course, how could I be so stupid and unseeing?"

((This is a first, me not wanting to post here.))

"I forgot about that."

"Of course, how could I be so stupid and unseeing?"

"Hm? Roma-san? Is there something wrong?" Of course, seeing as these thoughts randomly popped out of Roma's head, Zaunithe had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. Then again, he wasn't too surprised either. Perhaps this matter was personal. He knew that others possibly caught him muttering utter nonsense when he was deep in thought as well. There was just so much about the past that people can't seem to forget-- or want to forget.

The yellow glanced over at the white, who appeared to be thinking things over. About the past, no doubt... The people here were surprisingly similar. Everyone had something they constantly contemplated about, whether they liked it or not. Roma was no different, even if she also focused on her studies, trying to get stronger for whatever reason. Zaunithe figured he probably did the exact same thing.

Roma stifled her laughs of joy and looked at the yellow blankly. "Is something wrong? Why, of course nothing is wrong. Everything is perfect, perfect, so utterly beautiful that I could cry tears of pure and true happiness." 'How can he be so single minded? About my past... This isn't about my past...' "... It's about my future Zaunithe. I think not about the history I've been walking through. I've been looking ahead in time, plotting out my life after this one. I know what I wish to do now, and these feelings and hopes cease to exist as mere words that let me sleep at night." A scroll appeared in her hand, old and aged. Script was written on the outside, little notes that were hard to decipher. When Roma opened the parchment similar text was scrawled upon it, seemingly made in great haste.

"I'll explain this to ease the confusion that will probably be put upon your mind. Please excuse my excessive speaking for this one last time m'dear." She showed the piece of paper to him which still contained the letter from her brother Zeik on it. "This belongs to the young rose jewel Periya Nizzre, with it she was able to communicate with those outside of Fell. She would write notes on the parchment, those notes being magically transferred over to another piece of parchment that is exactly like this one. The person on the other end could also write messages upon their piece of paper, and Periya would receive the message. It is a device that transmits ink and sends it magically to another piece of paper, meaning that the two parchments are connected with arcane forces.

"Periya did not get into Fell the normal way, meaning that she did not die. Many at Fell do not believe that they perished and were sent here either, but there's a problem, they cannot verify it properly while Periya can. She got here through an outerworldly manner called portals. Portals are like doorways into other realms that can only be opened by those that know of them, unless you are as klutzy as Peri, who stumbled upon the portal field by pure luck. Knowing this, it becomes clear that a person could come into Fell via portal, much like the Rose had many months ago. Yet those in Fell cannot open portals because we don't have the proper kind of magic. Our magic in Fell comes from our jewels, and the jewels are quite limiting upon what we can and cannot do.

"But, if I can..." She paused, taking a breath and clearing her thoughts. Her partner was probably sick of her long-winded explanations, and complicated whines. But this information was vital to her, and possibly to other people who wanted a second chance in the normal world, with normal people. "If I can talk to my brother with this piece of paper," she continued, "then in theory he could open a portal and anyone who wanted to could use that opening and get out of Fell. I-I cannot believe I didn't think of that before. All I need to do is get Periya, make her show me the exact spot of her arrival, and wait for the opening to be made. Then we could cross over like nobody's business and be freed." She smiled faintly and gently poured her ground up leaves into the mixture and then throwing in the frog tendons with them.

Yasmin dwindled into the library, rubbery pink boots silently slooshing through what was left of the snow after a solitary walk through the forest remnants and paying another visit to the dining hall. She put her martini in her left hand and reached out for the doorknob. The chilled breaths of the winter queen were no match for the cozy black and white striped arm warmers that protected her from the cold. The dark's boots shined as they poked out of her label-and-patch-littered jeans and her wind-breaker vest made a slight "Whoosh" as the door swung open.

The green, again, shifted her martini as she stepped inside the warm enclosure of the library. She heard the last few parts of the former elemental's ramble and was tempted to speak out. "Wtf??" She inquired as a black, fine eyebrow was raised. Realizing it was Roma she had burst in on, thoughts of the adventure rushed back to her and immediately feared recognition.

Wait, why am I scared?? I'm not gonna let this bird intimidate me...... Yasmin continued to shuffle forward and picked a book off the shelf titled; "Illusions, Charms, Enchantments and Other Magic of the Dark." Yasmin half grinned and stepped over to a rather dusty seat in the corner with its back to the two, sipping her martini as she flipped through. The first few chapters were but introducteries to the thick book, so she settled for Chapter 5, "Drawing Them Into Your Lair." She studied the hand motions required and read on, leading her to a story on a capture made. The passage reminded her of Adam, causing the dark to quickly shuffle the pages until she stopped at Chapter 6, "Illusions." This satisfied her and she soon calmed down.

Indeed Zaunithe had heard of portals before, but one like this..? He had never even thought about Periya and her reason for being here. Yes, the yellow realized that most everyone who was here, had been sent to Fell for another chance at life. A dreary one, perhaps, but there certainly was life to be found. Periya... the thought of her stumbling upon this dark land by mere chance seemed almost unbelievable. What are the chances of that..? Zaunithe thought silently. Slim to none. There is probably only one portal here... Periya is quite the klutzy one. If not lucky, as well.

So the portal theory was possible. And assuming that the parchment connection was just a form of complicated magic, people could somehow escape Fell... but would they have their choice of where to go? Roma seemed to know where her brother was and where she would end up, should she find access to the portal. There were so many uncertainties... was Roma willing to take the risk of perhaps getting lost? Or even being transported to another hell? She appeared desperate enough to try anything.

Zaunithe shifted, and breaking the awkard silence, said, "You are trying to find this portal so you can return home, are you not? Or is another destination what you seek?" The adventure seemed so impossible when the white mage first speculated about it upon arriving in Fell, that he abandoned the thought and tried to find a new life where he was now. But... from what Roma told him, the process seemed more than simple. Yet, even if Zaunithe did escape from this hell-hole where would he go? He laughed mentally. At this rate, he might as well stay here.

A creaking library door diverted his attention. Ah... it is Yasmin. He wasn't sure if Roma and the dark had been introduced yet, but being a white, there was little Roma wouldn't know of the people in Fell.

Yasmin turned back to see the expectant look in the familiar jewel's eyes and predicted his actions. "Oh don't even bother, we know each other well enough. Ain't that right, Roma??" She smirked and raised a mischeivious eyebrow as to the tid-bit of past the two shared. Had it been so long ago, really?? The memories seem almost recent. Yasmin longed to say, but did not wish to ramble like the white she had encountered.

The dark got up with her martini and tossed the book aside onto the chair, joing the two in their meeting. Her slender body apporached and as she sat, crossed her legs and sipped from the thin straw in an interesting manner. She did not seem to care the new wrinkles forming on her jeans and the "Swish Swish" of her vest, as long as she can cause a moment of unease for the couple, she was happy.

Leaning over, she took a whiff of the potion that the white was in the process of making. "Ew, that's frog I'm guessing??" Yasmin continued to inquire the others on random topics. "Anyways, so, how did you meet??" She questioned in an annoyingly fake sweetness. It must have been the effect of the martini, though who could blame the dark for the addiction liquor caused, eh??
