It was a long ride to the police station, and for Leah it seemed like days. She didn't know what to do with herself. Didn't know what do say. Heck, she didn't know exactly why she'd been arrested.
Her thoughts where broken when the squad car stopped and her door opened. "Come on." the man commanded, grabbing her arm and leading her to the door of the station. "I told you, your mistaken, I-" Leah rebutted, but stopped when the door opened. As she stepped inside the offices where filled with lots of people, more than should be working there at 8 o'clock at night. She looked around and everyone stared back at her. Soon a few people started clapping and hollering. "Good job Hank!" they shouted, but one shout caught her attention specifically. "Let's see what Billy thinks about you now!" She shot the person an icy glare, gritting her teeth as she pulled away from the officer. "Hey there, hold up." he said to her, pulling her back to his side. Soon Leah was pushed into a interigation room, the door shut coldly behind her. She was alone at least. But it felt like a prison cell in there. Leah moved against the wall, leaning against it. Why had she been taken into custody again? Was there just a mistake? Or would she be going to jail for good like she deserved? Leah felt dizzy and with her hands still pinned behind her back, she slid down the wall to sit down. Resting her head against the cold cement wall, tears started down her face and she was shaking. Leah was scared. -------------------- Leah Lovette Can't stay away |

Billy was frantic. He had picked his child up as he paced around the room, digging through piles of papers. Grabbing the keys to Leah's truck, he started to dash outside, only to be stopped by Peter.
"Hey, what is---" The cowboy started but Billy interrupted him. "Something has happened to Leah. Several of the guys from the station came and arrested her, completely ignoring me." Billy explained in a rushed tone. Tucker was waking up from the bustling of his father as Peter approached them. "I'll watch Tuck, you go fix the law." The broader man nodded as the officer passed his son off to him. With a slight nod, Billy slid into the drivers seat, cranked the engine and took off in the truck, stirring up dust behind him. --- At the station, he blinked slightly at all the commotion. It was after the shift change as he pushed his way through the door. Few stopped and looked at him, expressions of fear and laughter tracing their features. He headed straight towards his office, opening the door and shutting it roughly behind him. Once more, he began a dig through a file cabinant as a knock sounded from the door. Billy remained silently, still digging through the files as the door opened uninvited. A tall dark man stepped inside, watching the frantic man. "Hank was on the case." He spoke as if it explained it all. THe man took a seat at the desk, eyeing the room before returning his eyes to Billy. "Says he found a loop-hole in the case, even though Leah is unable to be retrialed." Billy looked up from his digging, his breath heavy. "Hank? That mother flipping---" THe other man raised his hand to silence the man, "Yes. Hank." -------------------- Amicitiae nostrae memoriam spero sempiternam fore: "I hope that the memory of our friendship will be everlasting."

Hank Mitchell was a burly man, though not very tall and his hair was blonde and crew cut. He tried to make himself out as a man that you didn't want to cross, but he wasn't too cold natured.
Officer Mitchell sat down at his desk just around the corner from the room Leah was being held in. He calmly started to do the paperwork, taking his own sweet time. Meanwhile, Leah was scared out of her mind. She stared at the door on the wall next to her, just hoping Billy would come through it and tell her it was just a misunderstanding and she would be free to go. Just when things had started to turn right it crumbled away infront of her. -------------------- Leah Lovette Can't stay away |

After several strenous minutes of searching, Billy finally stood up with a manilla folder. He returned to his desk, plopping it down before looking through it carefully. Leah's mug-shot picture of years ago was paper clipped as the details of her cases were listed on multiple sheets of paper.
The man across from Billy watched him silently before speaking. "Bill, despite your intentions to see Leah tonight, I would recommend as little as communication with her." He nodded slowly. Billy's eyes shot up, eyeing the man and opened his mouth to rebuke the idea, yet the man raised his hand once more to silence him. "It would be the best for her, as well as you. I will accompany you tonight to see her." He continued. The younger officer set the folder down with shaky hands, nodded. "Yes, suppose so." He mumbled, standing up. "Is now good?" The other officer nodded, standing as well. "She is in the back, in the interrogating room. The third one on the right." And with that, Billy hastily left his office. -------------------- Amicitiae nostrae memoriam spero sempiternam fore: "I hope that the memory of our friendship will be everlasting."

Hank looked up from the desk he was working at. As he glanced down the hallway, he shook his head at Billy. At this point, he figured Billy seeing Leah wasn't going to change things. But, there was no way Hank would let Billy take over Leah's case and he was sure the captian wouldn't allow it either.
Leah stood up finally, pacing back and forth in the tiny room. She hoped she wouldn't have to spend the night her, but then again it was better than a jail cell. -------------------- Leah Lovette Can't stay away |

A relationship is like a rose,
How long it lasts, no one knows; Love can erase an awful past, Love can be yours, you'll see at last; Billy kept a fast pace, looking at no one as he nearly stormed down the hall. Few turned to stare, others supressing a laugh as he passed. Avoiding looking into Hank's office, he turned abruptly and took another path. Moments later her arrived at the questioning cells, and knocked softly on the third one. Opening it slowly, he looked into the cell to see a pacing Leah. Pushing the door wider, he stepped in, followed by the officer who was in his desk. The other man was tall and of Peter's built. Broad shouldered but a darker complexion, signifying of African American heritage. He was evidently older then Billy, perhaps mid-forties or late thirties as his dark eyes studied Leah from his postion. "Leah," Billy spoke, walking towards her and engulfing her in his arms, "I'll fix it... Somehow... Do not worry." He nodded as the man behind him coughed, as if to get to business. The younger officer glanced behind him, letting out a long sigh. "This is Officer Bobby Lawerance." He nodded, "One of my few friends here." The taller officer shook his head slightly, "Bill, there are others that support you. If you notice, not all of them stare as you pass." He blinked before talking to Leah. "Call me Bob or Bobby. Officer Bobby Lawerance makes me sound old." The man soft grinned a wisened smile. To feel that love, it makes you sigh, To have it leave, you'd rather die; You hope you've found that special rose, Cause you love and care for the one you chose. -------------------- Amicitiae nostrae memoriam spero sempiternam fore: "I hope that the memory of our friendship will be everlasting."

Leah looked at the door expectantly when it was knocked on, though she didn't make a sound. Before Billy was even half way in the door she ran over to him. She would have put her arms around him too and she lay her head on his shoulder, but they where still cuffed behind her back. Blinking back tears, she just stood there against Billy for a few moments before she looked up at the other man.
The woman just nodded slightly, staying very quiet, obviously scared. "Thanks Bobby." she said softly in her sweet southern accent. She turned back to Billy and looked at him with sad eyes. "Please tell me it was just a mistake that they brought me in." she whispered. -------------------- Leah Lovette Can't stay away |

Billy looked at her sadly, shrugging slightly. "I could not find a legit reason at first glance, but I would have to ask the bas---"
Bobby began coughing once more as Billy clamped his jaw. Letting out a heavy breath, he tried again. "I would have to as the guy that brought you in." He repeated through clenched teeth. Billy kissed the side of her head before stepping back slightly. "Do not say anything until you talk to a lawyer. Say nothing." He nodded. -------------------- Amicitiae nostrae memoriam spero sempiternam fore: "I hope that the memory of our friendship will be everlasting."

Leah shook her head, drooping it down slightly. "I ain't got the money for a lawyer, you know that." she said, looking back up at Billy.
Just then the door swung open. "You two socializing with my prisoner?" Hank questioned with a synical grin. He stood just inside the doorway, leaving the door open. Looking at Billy, then Bobby, he motioned for the two to leave. Leah glared back at the officer who had just entered. She then glanced back to Billy. 'Don't leave me.' she mouthed. She looked around before looking back at Hank with a slightly calmer expression. "You wanna tell me why Im in here?" she inquired sharply. Hank looked up slowly at the girl. "After Officer Lawerance and your boyfreind leave." he answered back rudely. -------------------- Leah Lovette Can't stay away |

"One will be provided, it is under you rights." Billy nodded, ignoring the presence of Hank.
Bobby raised one eyebrow at the obnoxious officer, blinking at his presence as he remained in his spot. "You know, Hank, snapping at other officers ain't gonna win you any brownie points with chief." He replied with a nod before looking over at Billy and Leah. Billy shook his head slightly, looking at her. "Sorry, I can not be in the room. Only select others can be in here." He replied softly, hesitantly stepping back. -------------------- Amicitiae nostrae memoriam spero sempiternam fore: "I hope that the memory of our friendship will be everlasting."

Hank crossed his arms as he impatiently waited for Billy and Bobby to leave. "Yeah, but putting her behind bars will." he answered, apprently full of himself.
Walking over to the small table that was set in the middle of the room, Leah impatiently kicked the chair out from under the table and sat down with a thud. She knew she couldn't do anything at the moment, so she figured she would let the officer who took her in know just how mad she was. Hank looked up at Leah with a glare. Tapping his foot impatiently he walked away from the door, letting it swing shut behind him. -------------------- Leah Lovette Can't stay away |

As Billy and Bobby walked out, anger was evident as Billy's pace was quick. The man was silently fuming, his footsteps echoing in the halls as quickened. Before long, the man was nearly jogging, having one place and only one place to go to clear things up. The Chief's.
Arriving at the closed door of the office, Billy knocked on it sharply as the gruff voice beckoned him in. An older man sat hunched behind the desk, looking up as the fuming officer entered the room. "WHY?!" Billy huffed angrily, glaring at the man. "WHY? She was flippin' cleared on her record. She paid the fines and did the time. She is innocent." His voice dropped several decibles, hands shaking out of anger. ((I'll play the chief, but I need to know Hank's reasoning for arresting her... So yea, you post. -------------------- Amicitiae nostrae memoriam spero sempiternam fore: "I hope that the memory of our friendship will be everlasting."

Leah looked down at the table with a blank stare as the officer walked around the other side of the table and took a seat lightly.
Hank placed a small folder next to him on the table and crossed his arms. "So, you've murdered," he began, opening the folder and taking out each picture as he read the names, "Alcholic ex-husband, David Hill. City of Davis Police Officer, William Black. And then the father of your children, Michael Richards." He had an odd calmness to him, alomst like he wasn't convicting her of anything, rather stating the facts. "Like I didn't know that..." she grumbled, not looking at the photographs. "Now, what Im wondering is why you are walking free right now." he said with a shrug, "Becuase the Cheif told me to bring you in for a re-trial in light of recent events." Leah looked up at him now, narrowing her eyes at the man. Then Officer Mitchell continued, "Becuase you owe some people a lot of money, and are using poor Billy to get it." "Am not!" Leah snapped at him, stomping her foot. He continued on without her comment affecting him. "Just becuase Officer Manning jumped through some hoops that could have cost him his job, doesn't mean you will still be exempt from the legal system." Leah tilted her head at him, "You wanna get to the point?" Hank laughed quietly and nodded. "Technically I can't arrest you right now. But let this be a warning; you arn't free, everything you do is being watched. So we will just wait, because all we need is one little slip up." he said quietly. In a few moments, Hank rose from his chair and motioned with his hand for Leah to get up. When Leah had risen, he unlocked the cuffs and pulled them off. "Go on home, ma'am." he mocked her. Leah snapped her head around toward him, giving him an icy glare. Hank walked infront of her and opened the door, exiting himself before he let her follow. -------------------- Leah Lovette Can't stay away |

The elder man looked up from his desk before motioning to the seats in front of him.
"Billy, sit." He nodded as Billy remained where he stood, defying him. "Childish games will not get you anywhere, Bill." The chief nodded before speaking again. "There was an ongoing case after the trial that Hank took on. He found out that Ms. Leah Lovette was hiding from loan sharks." Billy blinked, angry draining quickly as his eyes narrowed slightly. "Loan sharks?" He vaguely remembered them, believing that they were long gone and forgotten. THe elder man nodded slightly before continueing. "Yes, loan sharks. And..." His voice grew quiet. "Hank found out that Ms. Leah Lovette has/are/will be using you to repay these men. This ofcourse, if one pursued it far enough, would put Ms. Leah Lovette back in jail without a blink." The younger officer felt his mouth grow dry as betrayel set in. He dropped his eyes and sighed deeply, mumbling 'thanks' to the chief before walking out of the office. -------------------- Amicitiae nostrae memoriam spero sempiternam fore: "I hope that the memory of our friendship will be everlasting."

Hank strode out of the interegation room with just the same, bland expression he had been wareing the whole time. Then he took a glance at Billy as he walked out of the Cheif's office.
Leah followed behind shortly, rubbing her wrists and looking around nervously. Soon she found the front door and headed outside to get away from all the stares. Her hands where still shaking as she sat down on a bench outside. It had gotten considerably darker now, it must have been aprroching 9 at night. All she could do now was wait for Billy. But what if they had told him about the loan sharks and the lie that she was going to use him for money? She was sure they did. But she had already talked about this to him in the park when they first found each other again. What if he didn't believe here? What if he believed them now? -------------------- Leah Lovette Can't stay away |
