|Fvza Rpg > OOC Forum > Best Vampire-Fighting song?|
|Posted by: Jay Nov 23 2006, 12:51 AM|
|I was wondering what a really good piece of music would be as a background for fighting vampires and the like. Just a thought. Got any ideas?|
|Posted by: Cyber78 Nov 23 2006, 12:59 AM|
|Dragula by Rob Zombie, anything by Apocalyptica, and T.N.T. by AC/DC. I'll think of more later, but that's what comes to mind right away.|
|Posted by: Templar Nov 23 2006, 02:10 AM|
| Any way you want it - Journey
Don't think so? Watch this:
Flat on the floor - Nickelback
Crawling in the Dark - Hoobastank
Die Die My Darling - Metallica
|Posted by: Cyber78 Nov 23 2006, 02:13 AM|
|Wow. I'll never be able to listen to another Journey song ever again quite the same way.|
|Posted by: Templar Nov 23 2006, 02:14 AM|
|That video is my life.|
|Posted by: Roncas Nov 24 2006, 10:41 PM|
I am mentally scared now...
I would say Misfits - Scream would be a good one.
|Posted by: Templar Nov 25 2006, 01:28 AM|
| Ok, here is another batch of songs:
During the hunt:
Bodies by Drowning Pool
Perfect "Trechcoater" music
Pater Noster by E Nomine
Cool ambiance music
Bullet Proof Skin by Institute
One against many, either side
Make Yourself by Incubus
One on One battles with lots of talking
Blow Me Away by Breaking Benjamin
Good for large scale battles were both sides are ready to play
Ugly by The Exies
Kinda moody at parts, better for vamps hunting people
After the hunt:
Beethoven's 9th, first movement
Mad World By Gary Jules
Nice and mellow
|Posted by: Jay Nov 25 2006, 06:07 PM|
|Love it. I never expected anything like Beethoven's 9th to be there, though. Do you think his 5th would be good in a stand-off scenario?|
|Posted by: KJ Crush Nov 25 2006, 10:13 PM|
Get Inside- Stone Sour
Thunderkiss- White Zombie
|Posted by: Alaska Nov 25 2006, 11:12 PM|
| I'd say any Techno in general- However,
Send me an Angel by Paul Oakenfold
Trance by Paul Oakenfold
Mortal Combat theme by KMFDM
The Car Chase Music from the Matrix Reloaded
|Posted by: Cyber78 Nov 26 2006, 06:00 AM|
| I've got to agree with Alaska on that Car Chase music. The problem is I have no clue what that song is called so I've been unable to find it on limewire. If anybody's got that song I'd greatly appreciate it if somebody could send it to me.
But back on to awesome songs if you want to just feel like a complete badass there's nothing better than Black Betty by Ram Jam.
|Posted by: Templar Nov 26 2006, 06:08 AM|
| She's so rock steady and always ready.
Good song, but doesn't have that "umph" I want when stabbing somthing through the head.
And yes Jay, his 5th would work wonderfully, it is just that some of the mellower parts of that symphony would need coreographing with the fighting as to match up.
|Posted by: Cyber78 Nov 26 2006, 06:08 PM|
|And I've found the name of the highway car chase music. It's Mona Lisa Overdrive by Juno Reactor. The song runs a bit long at 10 minutes, but it's pretty good for techno stuff.|
|Posted by: Jay Nov 26 2006, 07:04 PM|
| Tatakau Monotachi (Piano Version) - Uematsu Nobuo
This has a simple sort of elegance, so maybe for vampires in hand-to-hand combat.
Somewhere I Belong - Linkin Park
If the odds are against a human or two (maybe they are fighting for a purpose other than to just kill?)
I Hate Everything About You - Three Days Grace (I think)
If it's personal.

|MASTER OF PUPPETS - METALLICA!!|
|Posted by: Cyber78 Nov 27 2006, 10:23 PM|
| If you're going to go with Metallica, Master of Puppets is great but the song Battery is even better. Especially if you get the S&M version. And now to list more great Metallica songs for this sort of thing;
Hit the Lights - Great for cleaning house.
The Four Horsemen - Metallica's best song ever, therefore useful for any situation. Including weddings, baby showers, funerals, and impressing girls with your headbanging madness.
Motorbreath - A great song for nearly anything, but works best if it involves driving. Note: Listening to this song while in heavy traffic isn't advised.
Jump in the Fire - One hell of a song if it's a bit of a one sided slaughter, of for practically anything imaginable.
Anathesia (Pulling Teeth) - Awesome if you need something that's pretty fast and heavy, but a relaxed at the same time. Perfect if you dislike vocals.
Phantom Lord - Pretty multipurpose goodness.
No Remorse - Awesome if you need to kill something.
Seek and Destroy - The title says it all, if you've got to seek something and destroy it then listen to this. Infact, this song is good for listening for any situation.
Metal Militia - Got a pretty evenly matched battle? Play this to turn the tide.
Hmm... seems I've just listed the entire Kill 'Em All album.
But moving on...
Fight Fire With Fire - In the mood for all out destruction? Go with Fight Fire With Fire (Apocalyptica did a great job on this song BTW if you're into badassed chellos).
For Whom the Bell Tolls - Outnumbered? Outgunned? Running low on ammo? In a tricky situation? If you answered yes to any of those questions than this is your song.
Fade to Black - Did you slip and impale yourself on a railroad spike? Did you just get bitten by something bad and there's no vaccine? Then listen to this bit on suicide.
Creeping Death - Title says it all.
The Call of Ktulu - Darkness afoot? Then nothing works better than the Call of Ktulu.
Battery - One of the greatest fight songs ever concieved. The S&M version as mentioned above is near perfect, and is by far the best song Metallica has ever done right next to the Four Horsemen. Live versions are also good too thanks to the faster pace.
Disposible Heros - Back to the front! Long story short, this is pretty good, especially if the odds aren't quite in your favor.
Damage Inc. - Once again, it's a self explanitory title.
Enter Sandman - A bit more relaxed than the other songs I've posted, but it's pretty awesome.
The Unforgiven - Really relaxed, but it's pretty good. The guitar solo in this is clearly Kirk Hammet's best work since his solo in For Whom the Bell Tolls.
Blitzkrieg - Sheer awesomeness. Right behind Battery.

|I like to get my classic rock on, and I've got to say the contrast of ultra-violence and some of the more mellow tunes really does the trick, here are a few examples.
Freebird (Lynyrd Skynard), Carry on my wayward son (Kansas), Ramble On (Led Zeppelin) - All good with no audio track to the scene, you see the action, but all you hear is the song playing.
Other classic tunes include...
More than a feeling (Boston)
Any way you want it (Journey)
American Pie (Don McLean)
That's just the short list, but hopefully it'll give you a good idea as to how it should really be done ;)

|*downloads the songs on the list he doesn't have*|
|Posted by: Templar Nov 28 2006, 01:29 AM|
YES. GOD YES.
|Posted by: Jay Nov 28 2006, 02:31 AM|
Oh my God. *imagines fighting a vampire with this song playing* It works. So well.
|Posted by: Cyber78 Nov 28 2006, 03:06 AM|
| My, my this here Anakin guy, maybe Vader someday later but right now he's just a small fry.
He left his home and kissed his mommy goodbye saying, "Soon I'm gonna be a Jedi".
|Posted by: Rhodes Nov 28 2006, 03:11 AM|
| Man i got it for ya.....
Do a download and listen........ totally a kick ass vampire fight song or otherwise sweet theme music!!!

|Posted by: Arnold Johnston Nov 28 2006, 06:17 AM|
|Nah... metal is a good fit, but it's that really odd match that impresses me. Imagine how bad-ass it would be to sweep through a room of anything with something like 99 Luftballoons by Nena playing, or maybe slay a crowd of zombies with nothing but a machete to the sweet sounds of Gary Jules' cover of Tears for Fears Mad World. You know the song, it was at the very end of the movie Donnie Darko.
The trick is to be dramatic while playing something that really doesn't fit, you match the speed of the action to the speed of the song and it's perfect.
In the case of Mad World (the cover, not the original) it would have to be a slow motion battle. 99 Luftballons would be a similar fight as the one in Shawn of the Dead where they were beating the zombie bartender with pool cues in time with Queen.
Another good example for a fast paced beating would be Rebel Yell by Billy Idol, or YYZ by Rush.
Looking for something a little more mellow, need something terribly dramatic for a protagonist death? Try a little Burt Bacharach, or maybe even Postal Service or Death Cab for Cutie.
Megadeath, Slayer, Metallica, Godsmack (who used to be a punk band btw), Misfits, Danzig (the harder stuff) and all that jazz are good fits, but they're obvious. In that realm (of obvious) but often overlooked is the Danzig song How the Gods Kill. It's a great song, and I endorse it 100%.
So, any other unusual ideas?
|Posted by: Arnold Johnston Nov 28 2006, 06:27 AM|
|Oh, I forgot some...
Sweet Deams (are made of this) (Eurythmics)
November Rain (GnR)
Who Can it be now? (Men at work)
A Stranger (A Perfect Circle)
Tonight, Tonight (Smashing Pumpkins)
Danger Zone (Kenny Loggins)
That's all I can think of for now... I'll come back later...
|Posted by: Templar Nov 28 2006, 08:16 PM|
Agreed. I did post a video where Jorney is playing in the background and I have already thrown up Mad World.
|Posted by: Rhodes Nov 28 2006, 08:43 PM|
| What about,
Welcome to the Jungle - guns n roses.
You outta know - alanis morsette
Killing me softly - orginial or by the fugees
Bled for Days - Static X (for those hardcore fight scenes)
|Posted by: Rhodes Nov 28 2006, 08:47 PM|
| Oh yeah... Halo by Soil.
I will stone you stone you stone you, my lil halo
|Posted by: TheConman Nov 29 2006, 10:16 PM|
|MARCH OF THE VALKYRIES. THATS HOW ITS DONE.|
|Posted by: Arnold Johnston Nov 29 2006, 11:02 PM|
| That would be flight if the Valkyries, and I think that's more of a destruction from above kind of song, good for a shock and awe kind of thing, but not really an up close and personal kind of thing. Also, it's been over done as it is, so it's a pretty obvious choice.
Come on people...
Think of something that you wouldn't expect to see!!
|Posted by: Cyber78 Nov 29 2006, 11:04 PM|
| Can't Touch This - MC Hammer
Play That Funky Music - James Brown
And finally, any variation of the polka.
|Posted by: Arnold Johnston Nov 30 2006, 12:33 AM|
|YES! That's what I'm talking about right there... I can see it now... wading through a mob of zombies with nothing but a baseball bat, some parachute pants, and an open blazer... that would be so awesome.|
|Posted by: Templar Nov 30 2006, 12:44 AM|
|Whatever floats your boat I guess...|
|Posted by: TheConman Nov 30 2006, 01:53 AM|
|bashing in zombie heads to American Idiot?|
|Posted by: Jay Nov 30 2006, 01:59 AM|
Dunno. I'm not American, so meh.
Monster Mash - Forgot who did that, but I think you guys know what I'm talking about.
Addams Family Theme - Great sniper theme; every time the 'clicking' bit goes, you can fire a shot.
Almost anything from Grease - Classic. Greased Lightning while wading through a sea of zombies, anyone?
|Posted by: Cyber78 Nov 30 2006, 02:02 AM|
American Idiot was crap. The whole album was crap.
Now the Canadian Idiot version by Weird Al, now that's good stuff.
|Posted by: Jay Nov 30 2006, 02:26 AM|
Most of the stuff from Weird Al is good. Period.
|Posted by: Cyber78 Nov 30 2006, 02:28 AM|
And that ladies and gentlemen is the forum's 1,000th post. Congrats to Jay, and congrats to Weird Al for being the topic of this forum's 1,000th post.
|Posted by: Jay Nov 30 2006, 02:31 AM|
| *sob* I'd like to thank the Academy, and... uh... my egotistical rival, Zeong, for boosting post counts at my expense, and everyone else on here, of course.
Do I get a medal or something?
|Posted by: Templar Nov 30 2006, 02:33 AM|
|No, we could give you celebratory flogging however...|
|Posted by: Jay Nov 30 2006, 02:35 AM|
Flogging? I don't even know if that's legal, but I like the soun of it. Just make sure it's an attractive woman doing it. I'm sick like that. (just kidding)
|Posted by: Arnold Johnston Nov 30 2006, 04:27 AM|
Actually the flogging is going to be done by a gay Austrian man named Bruno. Now I know what you're thinking, you're thinking that he's probably a dandy and the flogging won't be all that serious, well let me put those allegations to rest. Bruno is 6'8" tall and he weights about 285lbs. For all you metric using folks out there it translates to 193 centimeters and 129.54 kilograms... and it's all muscle... so, how about that flogging now?
|Posted by: Jay Nov 30 2006, 05:26 AM|
| Thanks for the metric, but the height actually translates to 200cm. I never got the hang of lbs conversions anyway.
Anyway, I'm not so sure about that flogging now.
|Posted by: Templar Nov 30 2006, 08:01 PM|
|Who said anything about you being ok with it? It shall be done! So says the Templar|
|Posted by: Arnold Johnston Nov 30 2006, 11:47 PM|
|And the music for your flogging will be Afternoon Delight by Starland Vocal Band... let the torture begin!|
|Posted by: KJ Crush Dec 1 2006, 04:04 AM|
Bruno said he'll be here in five minutes...
|Posted by: ruralphalanx Dec 18 2006, 12:50 AM|
| Well, heres another addition.
If you like Ska, then the first 17 seconds of "The Forces of Evil" song "Mistake" just plain rocks ass. The song is good too.
|Posted by: Zippo Dec 18 2006, 02:27 AM|
| I'd have to say
'Run Through the Jungle' by CCR
'Bad Moon Rising' by same
'No Where to Hide' by I don't know.
'Dirty Deeds' AC-DC
'Ride of the Valkaryies'
|Posted by: Judder Dec 19 2006, 03:21 AM|
