Title: Octan!

One of my favorite Town Subthemes is Octan....
Wat do you think of the Octan SubTheme?

backdraft - March 26, 2006 09:12 PM (GMT)
I own the Octan racetrack and the transporter. Ah, and those two trucks that came with a baseplate...
I thought they were great. Best LEGO racers in my opinion.

Indeed, Octan presence was nearly everywhere, from boats to racing...now there should be an Exo Force mech!
...indeed that would be a awesome day. :)

I like Octan figs.(The ones that have the green feet and the white torso with the Octan symbol and name...plus red cap/black hair/red headgear.)

The Hordesman - March 26, 2006 09:24 PM (GMT)
Yeah, Octan rocked. An imaginary oil company... I remember playing that their boss being a Texas-guy (white clothes with white cowboy hat) who wanted the world but was defeated by James Bond (!), Two kids and their robot (Wierd huh?) later, a new director was chosen, The Baron of course (a guy clad in a red coat with monocle, undefeatable badguy)... Of course, the Octan employees had no idea.

I really liked Octan, their logo is great and the choice of colors is great aswell, a very unique look, does not look italian at all.

Kotua - March 26, 2006 09:26 PM (GMT)
I agree about the Octan Colorscheme. Perhaps it could be incorporated into hte Stealth Hunter (and not apply the Exo Force stickers.)...and the pilot could be an octan fig with red hair...or black hair.

That's really interesting... my banker from the '97 town citizens minifig pack was my badguy. Always has been. Interestingly enough, his bank was made from the parts of my Raceway with extra white bricks.

You mean the small minifig citizens, or the big community Workers pack?
hmm...evil banker. The baron fig was always the bad fig...for obvious reasons.

That reminds me...
Lego, how could you put BLUE legs on Octan figs!?
Its just not right!

Heh, the small set. The 7-9 dollar one. Six characters. Hehe, my first pizza piece...

I really hope LEGO continues with the Octan themed sets. I liked that they got away from Shell after awhile, even if the Shell carwash and convenience store were the best sets in the early 90s...

Kotua - March 26, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
Pity Lego had to go and turn the small set into hte big Community Workers set.

I actually got the pizza piece....with the Pizza To Go legends set.
Hmm...the chef, the female minifig..and the dude who delivered pizzas in the car. I found that the minifig shovel worked better to take out pizzas from the "oven" than the oar...

back on topic though, I'm dissapointed Lego has diminished the presence of Octan(Except for that racing boat...although it wasn't as Octan-ish.)

vahkimetru - March 26, 2006 11:38 PM (GMT)
I liked the Shell sets better. I had the racetrack with two cars.

But Octan has the better colorscheme!

I still prefer Shell. I haven't ever seen a real Octan station in my life.

I have, almost got that great set, but kind of missed it for some castle stuff.

The set seems to be awfully hard to find pictures of, but heres a remake:

I ment a real one. In real life. ;)

I've seen the sets, they're pretty cool. I wish Lego went back into the way it was in the 80's and 90's and yet gave of us the techniques of today.

I'm afraid I don't understand. Do you mean an actual Gas station for real cars? Or seeing the set in person?

As for the techniques...Well, Exo Force gave me renewed hope that perhaps there might be some AFOL techniques...

Imagine they used Octan for the Exo-Force Mechs...

Or they could use it to fill 'em up!

Of course, trust Kotua to start an Octan topic...

Uhm, I dont think thats necessary, they are powered by power stones, though the limbs could need some oiling.

Octan is probably a more of a thing for non-senta mountain factions, like Futuron or Space Police, etc (ok, those guys probably use cold fusion but fusion sound like fuel, right?)

I saw you use the Octan flag in your avatar. I wanted to establish that I am the Octan fan here! :P

As for Octan not being Sentai Mountain focus....what about non-battle mechs? I'm sure Octan has a good use in the mountain...

backdraft - March 30, 2006 02:08 AM (GMT)
Hey, Exo-Force is supposed to be the future right? I think it would be nice to see that one corporation has survived that long. Hmm... *begins plotting evil Octan company manager in his E-F sets* Mmm... villains... with a monopoly on oil distribution...

Uh Huh...I completely didnt understand that...so bleh...

Fine, I'll get rid of the Av ¬_¬

backdraft - March 30, 2006 07:55 PM (GMT)
Well, I don't think they wanted you to get rid of it. They were just discussing whether or not Octan still existing in the future world of Exo-Force makes sense. I personally love the idea. Please, use whatever (well...) avatar you want. I haven't seen Octan since like 96 so it was refreshing to see your avatar after that long.

Kotua - March 30, 2006 11:28 PM (GMT)
I never see Octan as an evil corporation...specially since most of their sets have smiling minifigs...
