how does arresting someone make the department funds? LOL

The department is funded by the government its not like in the usa where each city gets the fines and those fines go into city coffers. The money you pay in fines goes to the Ontario government.
When someone is arrested, for breaking the law, and they are being held in jail, they have to feed it, house it, water, electricity, all costs money and if they dont provide those essentials and sooo much more, the jerk whines about 'prisoners rights' (biggest oxymoron out there), then the criminal gets free representation from the government in the form of a legal aid lawyer and 9 times out of 10 pleads down because the courts are overrun with stupid people breaking the law, getting arrested and being a tax burden...which is paid by the Ontario government, crime costs the government and it costs tax payers.
How has the department made a profit so far?
Quota? There is a quota on arresting people? There is crime, thats why people are arrested! If you are not a criminal, you don't get arrested, its pretty simple. When you were a tiny baby did your mom teach you not to put your hand on the hot element of the stove? you know simple action and consequence lessons?

If a city by-law states that painting your house a certain colour or growing vegetables in your front yard is not acceptable then it is a crime, at least in that city and you can be cited and fined for it. If you dont like the city by-laws ....MOVE! Where I live there are rules about how tall your grass can get, if you don't cut it they come and cut it for you and you get a hefty bill for that 'service'. You are not allowed vehicles in the yard that don't have plates, there are rules about what you can use to cover your house in the way of siding, there are rules about a lot of stuff in this city and you know what....people are lining up to become residents. It is one of the most sought after communities here. NORMAL people realize there are rules and comply or go where there aren't those rules....like the inner city where no one gives a shit and no one wants to live there LOL

Here is the best tip ever to avoid getting arrested ....DON'T BREAK THE LAW! It's not rocket science, its simple normal adult behaviour.

Well said LG. Not to say that there can't be bad cops, or maybe even bad departments, but by and large, you are absolutely correct, if you don't want to be arrested, don't break the law. beer.gif

you break the law every single day. There is far too many laws out there that do more harm then good.. a crime is an act on someone else.. is painting your house hurting anyone? is growing veggies in your front yard hurting anyone? is smoking a joint hurting anyone? if there is no emotional or physical damage on another person then it is not a crime.

dont break the law he says 24.gif you do know cops break the law to catch others breaking the law.

Painting your house plaid would certainly effect the values of your neighbours homes, I'd say that is harmful.

No, smoking a joint doesn't hurt anyone - I think it should be legalized, but that's my opinion. (no, I don't smoke pot)

growing veggies in your front yard? Against the law?

QUOTE (tamriel @ May 18 2012, 07:26 AM)

Yup you can go to jail for growing veggies in your front yard. You can be fined if you don't pay the fine you go to jail.

You buy a home and the property. It is yours, otherwise you should not pay for it am I correct? you bought it its yours! therefore you have the right to sustain yourself on the property am I correct? So if you bought the house on the property you own, and you have the right to sustain yourself, therefore you have the right to grow veggies in your front yard..

If you have a problem with this.. well I am quite sure there is flight sometime soon that goes to north korea.

Please forgive spelling as my "whitecloud $150.00 checker " is as dyslectic as me this day!!!

Many here think cultivator beats to a differant drum. This may be true but he does have merrit even if he does not know it.

Having worked longside OPP at times for over thirty years and having them buy most of my sub. in Orillia here are my thoughts on the OPP

They are not a police force as such.
They took over other town and city private forces in order to have total control.

OPP are a para-military force , that answer ( ONLY ) to the Gov. leader of Ontario .

The uniforms change to black , scary choice , ask any W2 vet.

I would help any officer in touble anytime and have.

The foregoing are only my thoughts of what i've viewed.

Agreed, Rothnie. I've known more than a few cops in my life who were a lot less than that popular citizen-view as being heroic Blue Nights we should all appreciate without question. Uh-uh. Anyone who has been paying any attention at all to even receent RCMP/OPP investigations going on throughout Canada should realize it.

Windsor, where I am? A local MD who was jogging and stopped in front of a building he was interested in buying was suddenly attacked and beaten unconscious by a monster-sized street thug. The thug was an off-duty cop who's wife called him to say their daughter had been bothered by somebody, cop decides the MD he spots is guilty and without any questioning beats him to a pulp.
Dr. is in a local EM when the room is filled with other cops telling him he will likely be charged with assaulting a police officer but they will drop all charges if he agrees to forget about it. Dr. gets a lawyer who gets a street video showing exactly what happened and it will probably cost Windsor $14M. Police chief resigns over the attempted cover-up and the subsequent press investigation reveals a long history of very bad stuff.

Met my lst cops as a kid in St. Catharines long ago when every kid in the neighborhood knew what they probably were, so bad the local force was eventually taken over by the OPP. A few years ago, long time later, a friend from that time got in touch to let me know another friend from that time, Sam B, now the apparent local OC Boss was being investigated for having so many OPP cops in St. Catharines on his payroll for information and protection.

Cops? Like any other occupation some are very good, most just doing a job, some very, very bad. Difference being, only cops go to work with a club, gun and badge, members of the biggest gang in any town or city. Advice? Get stopped by any cop, especially at night without witnesses, be very polite, do not argue and above all do not question that cop's authority, because you won't know which one of those he is.

Easy, any reason you deleted the lst post in this thread?

The man that killed two nurses years ago in Southern Ontario, then stole my cousins life was a former metro police officer. Guess problems within the ranks isn't unique to just the Catholic church.

The police out here are to be feared on some level.

20 odd years without a "Wrong full death by Police" here in BC.. Statistically possible.

Highly in-probable.

They police themselves. If they had found correctly on at least 1 case, the general

public may not be so outraged.

But they are!!

So should we have militias armed to the teeth to police the police.. will executions of police send a message to all law enforcers out there?

You have to understand anyone over 40, well most of them think that police are good.. anyone under 40 knows that cops are a para military force.. Very similar to the nazi`s and historic tyrannical forces.. executions stopped them from committing crimes... I really want to see a public take a criminal cop and hang him or her and see what the government does.. I bet the government will go on a mass killing spree. Then we will see the nazification of our country. When then law enforcers will not enforce unjust laws due to being scared of being executed. I really hope you people have the intelligence to understand me.
