Now that some time has passed with you folks having the smart meters installed, can you tell me about any price veriances you have had as a result. They are installing them in my community as well as others here on the west coast. I remember a great deal of grumbling here when the installations were done and would like some feedback about them. (smart meters) It seems to me, they increased the bills instead of decreasing them. Thanks for your time.

Things that make you go "hmm". 39.gif

I called in to dispute my bill, based on metre read, and was given a serious runaround. My metre didn't match my bill 'because of the 'time of use' billing. Long story, it is now damn near impossible to dispute your bill if your metre doesn't match your bill....I had a rental property and the difference was over 20,000 kw hours. Unimpressed!!!

Hydro would never have switched to the stupidsmart meters if it was going to take money out of hydro's pocket and put it into yours. I thought it was always understood that the bills would increase.

Tamriel, the new meter shouldn't have changed the Kwh used, just the price per Kwh.

I realize that, easy, but after a week arguing with them, I gave up. Sold the place. $168/mnth for a 478 square foot apartment in summer.....something wrong there.

Wow, that's a heavy bill for sure. Unless the tenants were air conditioning, or maybe had a small grow-op. ohmy.gif I've never figured out exactly what it costs to air condition the house, but I know it's not free.

Sometimes, part of my job can be trying to understand where energy is being used, or lost, in buildings. It's not always easy, no pun intended ... 24.gif
Anyway, one of the first things I do, is to call Hydro and ask for a consumption report. This will detail your month by month usage in Kwh, and dollars. It is usful in comparing current consumption to previous years, and sometimes helps pinpoint a problem.

I know you said you "had" the property, this is just useful info. Something that has helped me

Thanks easy....it was actually my uncle that was renting it from us. He didn't have a/c or a grow op (I don't think blink.gif ). The apartment had been reinsulated, so I was at a loss. It was baseboard heat, but still seemed awefully high. Even for the last month it was VACANT with the heat off, and that bill was $117.

My house, however, we are on equal billing - have three young adults a teenager, myself and hubby living in it and are paying $107/month. I don't find that too outrageous. (I want my house back!)

Smarter than you meters.

You three are two days ahead of my posting of a tapped ph. call with senior hydro 1

Why they can not give you a figure as to what you owe to date.

Estimating , no stalling for new meters in El not working at all.

IF YOU AIN'T HAPPY !

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT !
