I am considering a new car, and wonder if anyone is familiar with the chevy orlando or equinox? I currently drive a pontiac wave and I adore it for it's gas consumption and it is roomy inside. However, clients who have been blessed with some hieght don't get as comfortable a ride. I haven't decided 100% yet if I want to get into another several years car payments, or if it would be best to upgrade.

When I bought this car, I just walked in and bought it as I was able to reach the clutch without a pillow, and it was the cheapest car on the lot. I would like to put a little more thought into the next purchase.

Go Honda or Toyota. They aren't on the top ten list for nothing.

My other half has an equinox...it's good on gas considering it's size for sure. Having said that though, get a consumer reports book before buying...and beware with Honda....a relative of mine has a CRV and everytime she brings it to Honda for scheduled warranty maintenance it costs her a small fortune. So far the best reviews I have heard for dealership service and quality of vehicle, if you're going SUV, I would say RAV takes it hands down by far. I have recently purchased a mazda 3 - really liking it, but won't do much for your taller clients lol.

We absolutely love our Mazda 6....purchased in SSM from an old Elliot Laker...small world...great financing options too! After being GM for 30+ years we made the switch and have absolutely no regrets. Zoom-Zoom..................

I've totally given up on Ford, Chev, and Dodge. My take is you'll never see any of them in my yard again unless they belong to a guest. I purchased a Civic in 90 and put 497,000 k on it before trading it in for an Acura TL, another great car, then gave that one to one of my kids and purchased a Toyota in O7. Another 2 or 3 years and I'll be looking at another Toyota to replace this one.

Do your research. Look for vehicles with the least reported problems per 100 vehicles.

Thanks for the advise....It's much appreciated. The car I have now hasn't been the most reliable, and I don't want to 'rush' again. I took both the orlando and equinox out for test drives and read the reviews on them. I was leaning toward the orlando....til I drove it. I am 4'9" .... lol, I need to be able to sit comfortably enough to see around me (and over the dash), the equinox was comfortable in that regard. I am impressed with the mileage it claims to get as well.

I have owned a Honda (far to expensive to repair although the engine was top notch), the body completely rusted out on me. sad.gif ended up having to leave it in wawa.

My schedule makes it difficult for me to find the time to travel to the soo or suds for regular maintenance. So far I have not had any problems with Milltown, and have found the service to be quite good, as I did with Algoma Chrysler when I had my Jeep. Ford I have not dealt with, but I wouldn't own a Ford anyway.

I bought my mazda in Sudbury and there is no obligation to bring it back to the dealership for regular maintenance, just have to keep record of everything done here in Elliot Lake.

I agree sparked.. I bought a new vehicle as well but do not take my vehicle in for service at the dealership.. I have found a local shop that i trust and in fact i think they have more equipment than my dealership.. So i go there for maintenance..If they find anything they tell me and i go to dealership for warrranty work.. In fact no so sure if dealership would always tell me if they find anything wrong... sad.gif

Hmmm, interesting Sammy. I had taken my car in because something seemed off, I was told it was just my new tires. So I took it elsewhere, it was the tierod ends and ball bearings. It was several months later that I took it elsewhere...glad I did.

I ended up choosing a GM terrain. I have had GMC before and find them to be a good product. Gas mileage seems good and I am comfortable driving it (essential for the short, lol)

I've been driving GM products for years Tamriel, and I've been very happy with their reliability and the service I've had at the local dealer.

BTW, those Terrains are pretty nice. We looked at one just a month or so ago, but my better half prefers a car, and since it was mostly for her, we ended up with a Buick Verano, which we are both very pleased with. I drive a Chev truck, it's a 1996, and still looks and runs just great

I had a 2010 Terrain for a few months. A few minor problems duly resolved by Milltown.....but it was too small for carrying 2 big dogs on an extended journey.....so I traded it for a new Van a year ago for the extra space.......

:-)

You might like to check out these links......and join in the discussions....lots to read and learn about your new Terrain here....

Thanks for the links Fred. smile.gif

We owned a GM safari, the thing was 14 years old, and ran like a dream...the only reason we had to get rid of it was an issue with a remote starter screwed up the electrical system on it - big time. sad.gif I loved that van.

I am SO not used to all this computer stuff. My other car had NO bells, NO whistles, roll up windows - 5 speed manual transmission, no air. THIS thing, well.....took me awhile to figure out how to turn the heat OFF. blink.gif
