Why do people always say they've never had a problem with their pets before? It only takes once for something serious to happen. You wouldn't leave your child access to an open window wide enough for them to jump through and they are more intelligent than dogs in such cases yet the dog is given the opportunity to jump out. It's the same as people who leave dogs alone with babies because the dog is mild mannered. You never know when a dog has an earache or any other problem that would make them touchier than normal and then the dog snaps at the baby either disfiguring it or even killing it. Pets are animals and you can never be 100% sure how they will react to any given circumstance. As for the lady with the dog on her lap, last week alone I saw a woman and a man driving like that, isn't that just as dangerous as talking on your cell phone and driving?

I would say driving with a dog on your lap is more dangerous than talking on your cell phone....just my opinion though...if you have to slam on your brakes...you're likely to try to protect your dog out of instinct...cell phones can be dropped out of your hand...plus dogs are moving all over the place....unsafe cargo people....put the pooch in the back seat!!!!

I'd like to understand why police don't do anything about it. If I see people on cell phones all the time, and drivers with dogs on their laps all the time, I'm certain they do as well. How come we never hear of anyone being charged?

I ask myself the same question Justin. I see people on cell phones here all the time and this is a pretty busy place. I just don't understand it. They made a big deal out of the new law but do nothing to enforce it. No wonder people continue to do it. Geez. Same with dogs. They should be in the back and windows should be open only as wide as is safe. My dog is huge and, since my windows don't go down all the way, he couldn't jump out if his life depended on it. He's also too lazy to jump. LOL But seriously people need to think a little.

But people do get charged for talking on their cell phone each and everyday! Not everyone gets caught but then again not every one who speeds gets a ticket either. And be very careful about what you wish for. How many of you out there have ever drank a coffee while driving or ate something? Where do you draw the line? Hard to legislate common sense.

I have never once seen any mention of anyone being charged with driving while using a cell phone.

Tinkle perhaps you never heard of it because nobody you know has done it or been caught? It is not a criminal offence so it would never make the papers. There are regular blitzes as well..Usually at busy intersections.. People stop at lights. Think it's o.k. to text or talk on a red light..it isn't. I am not implying everyone gets caught.

I know several people who have been charged using their phone and driving...It's a huge fine over $300. lol, I had a police officer stop concerned that I had broken down cause I was on the side of the road yakking on the phone too long.
I am guilty, in the past I have yakked on the phone while driving, til I had a scare...I don't do it now. I use my bluetooth or pull over. Just not worth it. -------------------- Huh?
