If you were visiting in a foreign country, and asked to prepare a traditional Canadian meal. Aside of Canadian bacon, what would you prepare?

Ohhhh god ! That's enough to have a country declare war against our sorry asses. Judging by the looks of the new generation, their idea of a well balanced diet is a coke in one hand and poutine in the other.

A nice big joint ( if you dont smoke or use cannabis then you are missing out on life ) poutine with canadian bacon along with canadian mirco beers.

But you can't forget that canada is not a singular race or culture country. Canada is mixed of cultures, races and religions all these differences create variety so we cannot have a certain type of meals compared to european or caribbean countries.

biggrin.gif I have to admit I enjoy chicken wings, but I do make an effort of limiting them to maybe twice a month or less. I love a good pizza too, and make my own from scratch. Great when having the kids over for dinner. Spread out the dough for a personal pie, lay on some home made sauce, sprinkle the cheese, then hand it over to the kids to add the fixings they want. I make a good sauce, and I'm still experimenting with different spices with almost each batch I make. Admittedly however, nothing will approach Mama Damato's sauce, but I am a respectable contender smile.gif ....

My mother used to make a wonderful pulled pork Ragou with diced potato's, Clove and a hint of Cinnamon in it. Still one of my all time favourites. Add a fresh baked wild blueberry pie, and a bottle of Jackson and Triggs Merlot to go with that.

Last night at a fundraiser for Rainbow Babies Hospital they were doing an 'around the world' theme and the dessert servers were passing trays of desserts...a Canadian flag on one of the passing trays caught my eye....I had to check it out...Nanaimo Bars!!! Not 'quite' as good as my Nana's but sooo close, I had more than one wink.gif
I cook 'Canadian' sometimes. Tortiere or Shepherds Pie, and I throw a few 'ehs' around for authenticity LOL

While sitting in an Asian restaurant in Vegas, we were having orderves. Talking it up with my brother and my sister in law, I laid a spread on a small slice of crisp bread. The spread reminded me of creme cheese, so I laid it on good and thick and popped in my mouth. Soon my eyes were watering, I couldn't breath, or talk and my mouth was on fire. All of this while my brother was laughing so hard tears were running down his cheeks. He was laughing so hard that he too, was having trouble breathing. My sister inlaw sat there with her hands over her mouth and a look of shock in her eyes.

All I'll say is that I now know what Wasabi is.
