I just thought I'd start a thread which can forever be updated and so consider it a work in progress. The purpose of this thread is to contain all the information needed about starting up at Dropkixx.

How do I get there?

Purfleet

The nearest station is Purfleet and we are located near the Circus Tavern. Trains run half hourly to and from Purfleet station however on certain weekends there is a rail replacement bus service in operation that runs hourly. The train/bus service is operated by C2C trains and they run services from London Fenchurch Street, though usually the train can only be caught from Barking (Platform 7 or 8). Barking is on both the Hammersmith & City and District lines and can be got to from all parts of London.

The gym itself is a short walk from the station. Go through the industrial estate, turn right at the roundabout, past the garage (On the Run) and then through a small housing estate and there we are next to the The Fondu Club. If you get lost feel free to call me on 07805 064 964 and I will be happy to give directions as I am always there.

Tottenham

The Royal British Legion at Bruce Grove is where our Wednesday evening sessions are held. It is a short five minute walk from either Seven Sisters station (Victoria line, national rail services) or Bruce Grove Overground station. You can get a train direct from London Liverpool Street.

Cheshunt

This gym is now shut.

How much does it cost?

Training whether it be on Wednesdays or Sundays is £10 per session.

Training times.

The Purfleet gym is open from 10:30-16:30 on Sundays. Do try to be there as close to 10:30 as possible as thats when we begin our warm up. We usually have the ring up and set it down at around 15:30.

The Cheshunt gym is open 12:00-14:00 on Sundays.

The Tottenham gym is open 18:00-21:00 on Wednesday evenings.

All times subject to change.

Attire

Casual clothing is acceptable. Gym wear really. Track bottoms or shorts and tshirts are fine. No real rules here its at your discretion. Just don't wear your Sunday best for instance. Ring gear is entirely optional. Many people wear knee and/or elbow pads when training for protection. Many also wear singlets when training. It is completely up to you whether you choose to wear these things.

Where to get ring gear from.

Theres a shop in Woolwich called Blitz which is good. Internet websites such as eBay and Highspots are also good sources. You can always ask other wrestlers for advice on where they got there custom wrestling gear, I'm sure people will be happy to help. But think of it as an investment in yourself. If you don't invest anything in your attire you won't look good. At Dropkixx we try to get everyone looking like athletes in the ring and appropiate ring gear is a part of this.

Wrestling style

Dropkixx is unique in the fact that we have our own unique style that is like nothing you've seen in Europe or America before. It is important therefore that I inform people that this is not a quick, one stop shop. It takes years to become a professional wrestler. Infact many of our older, more established stars such as Team Beautiful and Jon Ritchie would say that they are still learning. It is important to stick with it and work hard at being the best that you can be. It is also important to tell you that this is not an American school. We don't teach you how to Powerbombs or Canadian Destroyers. We teach you how to get on the mat and wrestle. A craft which thanks to the Americans seems to have been forgotten. We are not looking for little boys who want to mess around we are looking for serious, dedicated athletes who want to train to become professional wrestlers.

Dropkixx's goal isn't to copy the Americans or anything else out there. It is about doing the thing that we're meant to be doing- wrestling. And thats one thing that we do better than anyone else in the country, nay Europe.

Shows

We hold many shows a month now. We have monthly shows at both the Fondu Club and the Tottenham gym as well as recurring shows in Rainham, Greenwich, Dagenham and new shows in Bethnal Green coming up. The forum and website are updated with the dates of these shows. All shows cost £5 per person. And we like to have a fun, lively crowd to wrestle infront of. Our shows are family friendly, and are varied in what we have on them. No two Dropkixx matches are ever the same. No two Dropkixx shows are ever the same.

Whos who?

Jon Ritchie- Action Faction member, Head trainer at Purfleet gym AKA the Main guy.

Team Beautiful- Former IWC Tag Team champions "Beautiful" Danny Beckwith and Barbell Bateman. They both run the Cheshunt gym and train at the Tottenham sessions. Beckwith is also one of the most respected workers at Dropkixx.

Lucas Jackson- Me, leader of the Action Faction. I'm always the first face you see at Dropkixx really.

Amit Rambojan- Head trainer of Tottenham, top Middleweight.

Like I said this thread will be added to, and feel free to ask questions below.

Map credit to The Finger.

Gracias,

[Sir Lucas Jackson CBE]
