OK, after my Vampire article, I didn't write a new Card article for a while...YES, I'm being lazy, oh well, that's just me, being a high school senior is like that (YES...I'm still a minor...).
Anyway, this time, we would look at how the cards from the latest set would be fitting into the new metagame.
As usual, everytime the restriction list hits, the whole metagame changes again. With majority of the OTK basically got "KO" by the list, Aggro deck makes a comeback. With the unban of Critter and Angel's Gift, we see the momentum of the game increase. With the banning of the troubled Scientist, we would never see a 100 cards Fusion deck for a while (unless people still do it on purpose). The not-banning Soldier decision of Konami makes everyone running Soldier again (as it would be save to run that deck for a while now...), and Turbo Chaos/Chaos Warrior and Goat Control reign above anything (and for some reason...Victory Dragon lock deck is still everywhere, and it really SUCKS).
Anyway, if looking for cards that would be put into some decks from the new set, the first one HAVE to be [Brainwash - Brain Control]. The new tuned down [Change of Heart] can serve half of purpose of the original card (as not being to get face down monsters REALLY hurts). Well, it could be a staple, although it's only 65% as deadly as the old card.
Now go from there, TLM is a very "themed up" set, with 13 Rock sub-type monsters and few Magic/Trap cards JUST for them. Well, as usual in big tournament, fun decks NEVER work (and themed up deck don't work either...). As I mention in my TLM article, it could create and boost a few types of deck archtypes, but in general, the only other tourney-competitive deck type that would kind of benefit from this is Bounce Control (it's control again...). As I said in my other article, standard tournament deck really only get ONE card boost.
This set, however, would be a GREAT limit set. Although there's not really such thing as official draft tournament (as the game is not design for drafting in purpose at the beginning, it is just releasing a card game FOR the anime), with the boosts it get from itself and the diversity of this pack is very little, it's really easy to make a good deck just from drafting the pack. This pack have the word "30x packs" all over it (as ALL of the 30x packs are themed up in one mechanics or "Name").
Unless somehow someone could make a Reshef deck a tournament potential deck (it's too unstable), or using [Antique Gear Golem] as in base of a deck that is powerful, TLM is just not the set for Standard metagame (or it would even have much impact on it)
I don't know what would my topic be next time, but it would probably be something with fixing a Structure deck again...
