I promise you guys I would finish this series "next week"...yes...it's next week...I wrote last article last Wednesday (I think...)
On the second article on the Angels, we would continue look at the evolution of Angels, this time, going from "Creation Era" to "Sanctuary Era" then at last to "Marshy Tofu Era" of Angels. The angels continue to have diverse abilities (aka effects), but, of course, stay on their theme of "Hopes and Lifes". When I'm talking about Creation era, of course, the following two cards SAYS IT ALL. King of Heaven - Shinato Light/Angel - Ritual/8/3300/3000 This card is ritual summon by a [Ark of Miracles]. You must sacrifice total level of 8 or more worth of cards from the Field and/or your hand to special summon this card. If this card attacks and destroys an opponent's Monster in defense mode and it goes to the Graveyard, do damage to your opponent equal to the base attack strength of the destroyed Monster. This card, use by Noa, of course, and his "Genesis Chapter 1 theme", goes for the story of Noah's Ark (duh...). When the Angel power combines, they do damages to opponent. But remember...giving "Hope" does not necessary means "draw card" or "gain certain amount of LPs", it could be damaging opponent's heart...and make the difference b/t the lifepoints more than ever. As the King's opposite, we see this: 307-032 Guardian Angel - Joan Light/Angel/7/2800/2000 When this card destroys an opponent monster that was sent to Graveyard as a result of battle, gain Life Points equal to the destroyed Monster's base attack strength. This card is probably the best example of Angel giving lifepoints. I do not have much comment to this card, basically, just opposite of [Shinato]. But again, Angel's job is usually "make more difference between your life and your opponent's life", so... Then, as a new set announced, the Angel evolved into the "Sanctuary Era", why Sanctuary Era?? Of course...because of the following: 308-042 Sanctuary of Sky Magic - Field The Battle damage done to Angel Sub-Type as a result of battle to the controller became 0 So, you automatically know what I mean, right? As Angels giving "Hope" to a player, one job is to protect their life no matter their cost. So, they die, but completely block the attack so extra damages would not done to you...uhh...how nice...XDD As one card does not complete the Era...there're actually total 5, all in the same set...so, let start with a big one... 308-034 Great Angel - Zehrato Light/Angel/8/2800/2300 This card cannot be normal summoned. When you have [Sanctuary of Sky] on the field, sacifice one [Serra's Warrior] to special summoned this card. Discard one Light Type Monster, destory all monsters on opponent field. This effect can only be activate when [Sanctuary of Sky] is face up on the field. I told you again and again Angel destruct stuff for your sake, right?? Yet another example of Angel being mad at opponent player...just for your own good (aka..."It's for your own good" - quote from "Uncle" in Jackie Chan's Advanture...). The following are 4 goddesses...each with their own personality... 308-006 Assistant of Judgment - Saturn Light/Angel/6/2400/0 When your lifepoint is higher than your opponent, sacifice this card, Your opponent take the damage of the difference of the Lifepoint. You cannot activate this effect if [Sanctuary of Sky] is not on the field. You cannot enter Battle Phase the turn this effect is activate. I could only comment this card as, Angels would sacrifice themselves as for your wish, period. Uhh...who don't want to win anyway?? The next one...is... 308-007 Assistant of Intelligence - Mercury Light/Angel/4/0/1700 When it's opponent End Phase, if you don't have any card in your hand You may draw 1 card during your next standby phase. This angels actually meet both of my "requirement" to be really an Angel...no hand?? No problem...he will assist you in that, giving you hope, so..help you draw a card for the sake of your good, period. I don't want to repeat to same thing...but, ain't they great?? XDD Of course...2 more...but...don't fell asleep or close my article in here... 308-008 Assistant of Creation - Venus Light/Angel/3/1600/0 Pay 500 Lifepoint, special summon a [Holy Sphere] to the your field. Angel create stuffs...they just make more things for you...oh well, what can I say...and the last one... 308-009 Assistant of Strength - Mars Light/Angel/3/0/0 This card is not affected by the effect of Magic Card. When [Sanctuary of Sky] is on the field, and when your lifepoint is higher than your opponent, increase the attack and defense strength of this monster by the difference between Lifepoint As Angels gave you more and more life, they need to do something themselves to use it too for helping you out even more...so, here it is, an Angel that depend on your own life. In other words, they would say, "don't waste your life...we need to do something here". As the booster release and release...the "Sanctuary Era" officially end, and now, the "Marshy Tofu Era" begin...how I get this wierd name...it was due to the following two cards: PP6-001 Marshmellow Light/Angel/3/300/500 The controller of the monster card that attack this card that is in face-down defense mode, after damage calculation, lost 1000 lifepoints. This card cannot be destroy as a result of battle. (Damage Calculation is apply) Now...here's the "Marshy" part...from Marshmellow. This Angel basically could "infinitely divided in battle", or, no matter how hard your opponent would try to attack it, it would reform just for the sake of protecting you... Now...what the heck is the "Tofu" part?? 309-002 Mokemoke Light/Angel/1/300/100 Normal Monster You would not understand why I say "Tofu", right?? Before saying much...for those who have ate Tofu know how soft and easy it could be eaten, right?? Now, when a Tofu added a Sausage (I think so...LOL) at the top, some paper hand/leg at its proper position...it becomes a monster...evolved from Tofu (I'm not Konami official...so I really don't know how they came up with this card...). Why talking about her? Well...just the following two cards shows it all. RDS-JP036 King Moke Moke Light/Angel - Fusion/6/300/100 [Moke Moke] + [Moke Moke] + [Moke Moke] When this card leaves the field, you may special summon any number of [Moke Moke] from your Graveyard to the field. RDS-JP043 Angry Moke Moke Magic - Continuous When [Moke Moke] is face-up on your field, and one of your Angel sub-type monster on the field is destroy, until the end phase of that turn, the attack strength of [Moke Moke] on your field becomes 3000. You know tofu is easy to made, easy to come back...and could grow when anger...although I don't know what the crazy KoJ design team is doing, but, really, the tofus seems like fun to play at... - Baron, 9/17/04 |
