When I first heard about this turn of events, I didn't know the scope of what was going on; yesterday, everything became out in the open.

Those of you w/o a Janime account are probably completely unaware of the shitstorm that has ensued; I, however, am lucky enough (well, not for long, heh) to have one.

Janime-the-site (as opposed to the person) is basically dead.

Now, you're probably about to ask me why you should care. Well, this whole situation involves one of our own, as well - our good buddy Ark. Now, I've been here for a long frigging time, so I think of you guys like family; when someone starts fucking with my family, I'm naturally going to be PISSED THE FUCK OFF. This includes Ark, who was a Super Moderator over there. Key word: Was.

Now, the Janime site has 3 admins: First, Janime herself. Then Geno, who always seemed like an ok guy to me. The third, chris, I ironically never bumped into that I can recall, but is the cause of this shitstorm. He's apparently been an insane douche for some time, but has finally crossed the line. Now, no one there would've even known much about this, if Ark hadn't, in a moment of awesome rage that induced the pant-shitting of everyone else who beheld it, spectacularly blown the whistle on him & made his douchebaggery public. And, upon this, many well-respected members gave him the proverbial finger & exited stage right, to a new temporary forum one of those said members (Detective) set up for the time being.

Just what the fuck did this chris fellow do, ya ask? Well, what the fuck hasn't he done? Let's see.......there's allowing an ass-kissing, trouble-causing troll to become a mod, even though the community at large thought it was a horrible idea. There's his general evasiveness of & insensitivity towards dealing with major issues, including dealing with a major troll that was driving Ark out of his mind. But the straw that broke the camel's back.....well......

Ark & the other mods, after dealing with a particular issue, and chris continuing to be a useless douche, had decided that the site's Code of Conduct had waaaay too many issues with it that needed fixing; so they all got together and started a discussion about it. Chris had previously claimed that he would be more than happy to hear others' opinions on the matter; but when he got wind of this particular discussion, the two-faced douche threatened to ban the mods responsible (including Ark), which led to the startling revelation that he was abusing his administrator privileges to read the PMs that the other mods were sending Janime-the-person to discuss the situation. That's a BLATANT PRIVACY BREACH that should have HIM banned. Anyway, the douche locked the thread, and all this soon led to Ark's Crowning Moment of Awesome.

So, NOW you're wondering, "Shouldn't Janime-the-person be able to do something? Well, apparently, beyond profusely apologizing a million times, no, she can't - banning him would apparently cause a domino effect with the site itself somehow. So, she's stuck watching her site, one of the longest-running YGO fansites, crumble into dust. SHE DOES NOT DESERVE THIS. NO ONE DOES. And I feel so fucking sorry for her.......

But, this had to be done. This tyrannical, insane douche should NEVER be allowed to help run another site again.

Ark, I salute you for your giant set of balls, man. You could've just left quietly, and let this douche get away with all this, but you didn't. :penguin_26: You did the right thing; don't let anyone else tell you different. You've helped us & the YGO community for years, and someone like you should never have had to go through all this crap. You have my respect.

Well, that sucks. While I had gained a bit of an unsavory taste towards the forums in recent years(I used to like going over there in the GX era, but something seemed to change big time in the mood after 5D's came about...), janime's sites are great source to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Community. It's a shame to hear this is happening.

Whoops, I made one little error; the new tempoary forum for the 'refugees', so to speak, wasn't set up by Ark, but another of the Janime members who fled. Edited the first post.

In addition, there's a new actual site in the works.

Sigh...as much as I haven't went onto Janime for like 2 years, we all know the site somehow survives this long with the amount of trolls (Not anyone's fault...) that just go onto there...

Of course, on the other extreme you can have this site, basically 5 members (at max...) active just b/c you have 2 admins that don't even care anymore :penguin_16: :penguin_16:

Hey, at least this place has been nice & peaceful since the Synjo Incident was resolved; I'd rather have this than a shitload of trolls any day. ;)

Anyway, as to why chris can't be safely be removed from the place, well, it turns out that Janime-the-person, due to her busy personal life, unfortunately left the whole shebang - both the main site AND the forums - in his control. Which means he's paying for & running the site's server & everything in it. I should've realized that was the case....

Chris? Aka Saarbruecken?

This is actually no surprise. I already knew for years that he is an untrustworthy dick.

Let me tell you another story.

Years ago when Janime searched for a more reliable host. She then was approached by Netzgames, were Chris was an admin at a time. (I was actually a suggestion to the admins to host Janime)

I actually went good, but after two years or so, Chris overthrew himself with the other admins of Netzgames and changed to another Hoster named SilverX.

Yeah, and he took Janime with him. I don't know what he told her exactly. From what I heard that Netzgames didn't want to host Janime anymore. which was only half-true. (Don't want to defend them, since the other Netzgames admin were greedy asses. Netzgames doesn't exist anymore anyway.)

Well, after Janime was hosted by SilverX, it appears that chris banned a lot of people who were part of the staff of other Netzgames hosted sites, specially Pummeldex.de.

And yeah, I was also banned without reason. And I was a loyal Janime member for years. I later created a new account, but never really used it anymore. The fun was just gone.

Oh and I also mailed Janime, told her of the banning and warned her of not trusting Chris. Sadly, she didn't listen. (Basicly because Chris "helped her".)

I am sad that he actually killled Janime now. It was the best Yu-Gi-Oh! community site of the net.

Anyway, do you have a link to the refugee forum?

P.S. @PM reading: He was also suspected doing this when he was admin at Pummeldex.de.

Oh and @ let trolls run will and making people kissing his ass become mods/staff members: Deja Vu Part 2

@Chirs and others opinion: Yeah, he always liked to talk about "democracy" and stuff. But when people start critizing him or is work, he's yelling "dictatorship" and behaves like one himself.

5 freaking years and the guy got even worse.

This site has never been that active since it's mostly semi-intelligent posts, unlike the more popular sites (Pojo, Realms, etc)

To be honest there isn't much to be discussed about YGO when it comes to competitive deck formats due to limited resources, so it is actually pretty reasonable to have lower traffic.

I agree on all points.

Pojo and Realms and such are mostly just PAGES AND PAGES of whining and bitching about pointless things that can never be changed and mean nothing and people dwell on being negative for the sake of CONVERSATION without adding any to said conversation.

It's like if you aren't being a douche, no one wants you as part of the dialogue.

Back to Ion and Baron:

Isn't it really that you with life getting on and things getting busier, you care less and less about the game and its stupid politics that ruin it and its community that, while it has some gems in it, is really just a lot of whiners and there's less incentive to be part of that while you have things like a JOB, MORE school and crashing economy to worry about?

The site is just less active (not just because of the lack of updates, not that there's a lot of update on in the first place) because there are less Pojo-ish people just posting to whine about something.

Personally, my interest in the game has devolved back to where it was during GX. I make cards as a hobby and keep up on what cards are in the game, but I'm hardly playing even the video games. ZeXal is only so interesting, and the cards are LESS so outside of promos (though, not as crazy as it was when it was such a disconnect between the quality of sets and the power of promos). Without 5D's, my interests is back down (outside of the 5D's manga, which I can't read much without someone subbing it).

Shinobi: It's somewhere b/t being busy and being lazy. I actually has lots of time before March (It's grad school, you have all the free time if no one throw stuffs at you...). Of course now that I'm working I just don't have nearly as much time trolling around...

And Baron has a life, unlike me. :penguin_16: :penguin_16:

Of course, site traffic drops (Most people goes to Shriek's blog anyway, not that I don't...) = less people even going into the forum = less people post. Yeah, it does stops stupid trolls from posting around (I don't even want to talk about Pojo and Realms...even looking at Shriek and those trolls that don't know a shit...)

How I miss the day of Synjo, starting up flame wars to make sure the site have traffic XD.

The site is still a good read, since you also have a lot of the old stuff, that not even the Wiki has completly.

Besides, a little community can be really something nice an relaxing.

And at least you don't have a douchy third admin. (I really have to go to the Saarland some day and finally hang him. It is a vow, you know..)

So.....another of my fellow DMC'ers had been screwed by him, too? And he basically stole Janime-the-site? AND he was already suspected of similar privacy breaching at another site? Geez, just how fucking deep does this shitstorm go!? This is fucking ridiculous.... :penguin_1:

Yup, that same Chris, alright. Only this time, everyone has finally had enough - even Janime herself. It's sad that she placed that much trust into him, only for him to completely destroy all of those years of hard work......

The link to the new temporary forum is in my sig space, "To new beginnings!". I forgot to mention that before.

100% this. No one's gonna think any less of either of you for putting more important things ahead of this site, so don't ever beat yourselves up about it.

Not to mention, like I said earlier, I, much like the rest of us, enjoy the peace & quiet & lack of idiots. :P

Saarland? Saarbruecken? As in GERMANY?

Another German YGO admin?; like Shriek and Manjoume Thunder?

Ironically I had a friend from Saarbrucken that I kept fighting with all the time, not really sure if we're still friends at this point since I haven't spoken to him or heard from him in a long time.

--------------------------

I'm going to be honest, Eagle and I have been discussing when and if to bring up the possibility of Torch Passing DMC or at least making a few new admins and make content and translations. Just like Duel Monsters Hangout was absorbed into DMC, maybe it's time for DMC to merge with Shriek outright since he's a Elite here and sister site anyway.

And no, I wasn't nominating myself to be one (though I would like my points from the Synjo Era removed). I can't translate, only do maintenance work and mod and work on content for the site (I can still do my Bad CAC section, I still work on it behind the scenes).

If anyone, I would suggest Valentin, LeArk and Shriek as admin candidates.

Thank you very much. I just registrated and waiting now to get poting rights.

@Stealing: As I said it was very fishy. Also, strangly the old admins didn't care that they lost the site. They only said that the hosting wasn't "profitle" enough anyway. Asses.

I don't hate many people, but this guy this definitely on my list. Did I mention that on the other site (were I'm still working at, but not as active as a few years ago. Anime in Germany have a hard time currently..) he was protecting a girl, who was stealing reviews from other sites? (and yeah, and off course when he left us for another site, she went with him.)

Wow, I'm an internet legend. That's. Kinda amusing.

Also, I have massive grating issues with Shriek. Specifically his main translator. :-| (Basically I think Dan is a quack, and Dan thinks I'm not grovelling at his feet enough.)

So I'd probably be dubious with this situation of merging with Shriek. And the current refugee group is making me an Admin.

Basically Chris is the only IT person she knows and trusts to handle stuff, and essentially he foots what was apparently 100 (Euro/Dollar?) Server Cost per month.

100 euros is actually a lot, you can already get good webspace much cheaper.

And well, Janime was never good at technical stuff herself, no offense. I don't know if you remember her hacker problem 10 years ago. (Which a friend of mine said was actually easy to fix...)
