Ok, I've decided to do it. :penguin_26: While I've flopped at articles before, I'll hopefully do better with this. I'm going to try & do these in a different letter size, just so I don't waste a whole lot of thread space, and in a different font & color just for the hell of it. :P

Ok, here goes something:



Episode 1: Riding Duel! Acceleration!

This episode marks a few other firsts for me beyond the start of the series - this was my first-ever watching of a non-dubbed Japanese anime (woot!), and also the first firsthand-witnessed evidence of the extent of 4Killjoys character assassination. While I've only seen one 5Dubs episode (the 2nd Goyou Guardian appearance eppy), I could still tell just how sickening it was - mainly the giant contrast in Yusei's original voice, as stated on this thread's previous page. I also got to see just how androgynous Rally actually was, lol - NO FUCKING WONDER EVERYONE WAS FOOLED. :penguin_17: His voice is even girly - and considering he's what......roughly 9-ish?, you'd think his voice would be SLIGHTLY more boy-like.

The OP was just as awesome as the eppy itself. The theme song was quite catchy, and it was nice to see a YGO opening hat wasn't just a 4Killjoys random assortment of episode clips.

Then there was the Riding Duel.....what can I say? They actually made part of me forget that this was in the YGO universe due to the different style - which was more refreshing, compared to what I had originally thought back when this series was just being promoted (not helped by the giant robot rumors, either).

Then were the almighty Synchro Summon sequences that made even the Ritual Summons of BLS & BMoC back in the day look pathetic in comparison. I guess I didn't really get the awesomeness fully the first time on the 5Dubs episode. :penguin_23: But seriously, someone has to make a drawing of Junk Synchron pulling that cable from out of his ass. :penguin_18:

Episode Highlights: Junk Warrior tossing Handcuffs Dragon onto Montage was cool as fuck. "I DON'T WANT IT; HERE, IT'S YOURS."

I got to see more of Yusei's character firsthand, and sadly, Yugi somewhat pales in comparison to his awesomeness (let's just see how many times I can fit 'awesome' into this review, eh? :P ). He does what he does just so calmly, while still conveying to Douchio (my new nickname for him from now on) to go fuck himself for being a stuck-up prick. Pricks always lose.

I'll comment again once you post Episode 2 and so on, since we already commented on Episode 1.

Ep. 2: Power Insect Deck! Trap of the Antlion!

Who else wants to take a sledgehammer to the teeth of that chuckling retard that was with Uryu? Seriously, anybody?

The duel wasn't too bad; it goes to show you how underrated Insects are these days. Had Uryu not let himself get assraped by his own card ( :P ), maybe he would've had a chance. I noticed that Chainsaw Insect's & Doom Dozer's effects seemingly didn't activate for some unknown reason......oh well, it's not like NAS has had the best track record with in-duel mistakes. Chainsaw's was rather a moot point by that time, but Dozer's should have been seen activating.



Escape! Nitro Warrior vs. Goyou Guardian!

....or DOWN WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT! GO FUCK YOURSELF, COPPER!!!

Ushio refers to Yusei as 'scum' throughout the episode, and yet he's the one swimming in garbage. Why do you think I love irony so much?


One little note: I'm not sure why TKnP kept using 'Glom' instead of 'Goyou'; does anyone know why that happened? I'm not the one with knowledge in Japanese, here; I'm lucky to finally know what the hell 'nani' means.

Chainsaw's attack was negated, so its effect didn't kick in. As for Doom Dozer, who knows.....

I know its own attack was negated; I meant when Yusei attacked it with Junk Warrior - although the effect wouldn't have made a difference either way.

Ep. 4: Fated Showdown! Stardust Dragon Blocks the Way

Good god......so THIS is what Jack was like before Carly (he really DOES use 'king' every fifth word).... I'm not sure that Jack's as annoying as that overly hyper KC retard ( :penguin_20: ), but.............nah, King Jack IS more annoying. I've yet to understand how the hell he goes from Team Satisfaction member to The Almighty Douchebag Lord, but I'll find out eventually, won't I?

This is the first time I've seen the Signer Synchro Summons, so no doubt I'm happy about that. :P

Ep. 6: Ace Dragons Clash! Stardust vs. Red Demon's

....or Oooooh.......Look At the Big Shiny Red Thing.....

Crimson Dragon: "STOP FIGHTING, YOU TWO; DON'T MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE!!!

ALRIGHT - THAT'S IT! YOU TWO ARE GROUNDED!!!!"

That's what the two Signer Dragons get for not playing nice. :P



Ep. 6: Take a Look! This Here Hidden Treasure Deck of Mine!

Even tattoos don't seem to cause most people to collapse to the ground afterwards.....

Onto Mikage - the one that we all should have been calling 'Failgirl' instead of Carly this whole time.... :penguin_16: Why hadn't we, now? I'm lost. The more I see of this woman, the more I want to reach into my flatscreen monitor & pimpslap her to the ground. She'd probably enjoy it, seeing as she has no sense of self-respect or a spine. "THANK YOU, SIR; MAY I HAVE ANOTHER?"

But then I lightened back up while I watched Jack whine like a 2-year-old for a solid 2 minutes. :penguin_15:

Now onto Geez......er, Yanagi: HE NEEDS ADEROL. (Not sure I spelled that right; it's like Ritalin.) Despite that, you can't not feel sorry for the guy.....reminds me of the flak I used to get over trying to play Aliens back when they weren't as good. :penguin_12:

Well, normally, you use lasers to REMOVE a tattoo, so you know that freaking hurt.

I think starting from Episode 6 on, they start masturbating to the idea of Yusei in some sort of pain or torturing act.


You'll see. There are also videos on Youtube dedicated to the NUMEROUS scenes of Yusei getting fucked up by something.


Dare I say... Yusei is the Captain Kirk of Yu-Gi-Oh except he can actually fight and doesn't get beat up often (just violently tortured often).

You pretty much literally took the words right out of my mouth. :P After seeing Ep. 8, that's made ridiculously apparent.


Ep. 7: Feelings for the Cards! Crystal Skull vs. Great Bull Ogre

I'm not sure how much of what Godwin spewed out about his relation to the whole thing was correct, but a douche is still a douche.

Interesting how the Nazca Line thing went down ironically at during the same time that the Egyptian fiasco occurred; I guess Takahashi likes to keep it all during the same time period. (Unless you count the Orichalcos deal, but I'm not unless it was Takahashi's idea.)



Ep. 8: Unfulfilled Soul: The Signers and the Legendary Dragon

At least 10 minutes combined between this episode & Ep. 9 had to be Yusei screaming - LOUDLY. You'd think you're watching a horror flick if you heard that kind of screaming. o_O Wonder how much 4Killjoys had to edit of THAT. Tee-hee; anything to make those bastards miserable.....hey, maybe THAT'S what NAS is beating off to, and not the torturing itself... :penguin_21:

First time seeing Takasu fully, and is it just me, or was he inspired by Mr. T? His deck is made up of CHAINS, after all, and his name IS Takasu. Not gold chains, mind you, but still chains. Yeah, no mohawk, heavier, and with a WAY larger beard, but I do see a little inspiration in there.

Not to mention that Mr. T is awesome, and Takasu is scum of the earth.

More enjoyment of Jack whining. :P

Do unto others.....in this case, Takasu's turn for unwanted electroshock therapy. :P Again, I PITY THE FOOL!!! SQUEAL, BITCH, SQUEAL!!!!! He's lucky he didn't get it as bad as Yusei, but at least he DID get fried - thanks to outside interference.

This is why it pays to have friends in jail. :P

It's cool seeing oldschool cards like The Kickman, Stim-Pack & Demon's Axe being used for a change; it's just something the anime doesn't give you that often.

I notice the art for Taunt is different in the anime; is it that art in the OCG?

Ep. 11: The Special Pursuit Deck Returns: Regain the Bonds with Friends

Saiga is now #2 in my book in awesomeness. Between the Security hacking, the 'connections', the D-Wheel fight......seriously. Meh, a little emo in the beginning, but Yusei fixed that right up. If it wasn't for him in the next episode........



Ep. 12: Dead Chase! Weave the Bonds, Turbo Warrior

.......Yusei would've been roadkill. So yeah, #2.

This is also the only episode I'd seen the 5Dubs of.....in which I have an actual comparison of Yusei vs. DubYusei - TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE.



Ep. 13: Dial, On! Roar, Deformer Deck

I decided to take another look at a 5Dubs episode (16)........THE THEME SONG SUCKS.........could've been better if they'd gotten a hard-rock band to do it.......yeah, right, we're talking about THESE people? The words still need to be changed anyway, so it's a moot point.

Aki's dub voice is mildly irritating, Jaeger's is butchered, and Lancebeaux was made horribly pathetic. Now, off to the subbed eppy for comparison.

I thought Rua was changed to Luka.......too many complaints, eh? Leo is at least closer to Lua.

Ep. 14: Folklore Appears: Bringer of Destruction, Black Rose Witch

Alright, alright, I'll admit it; Aki's heavy breathing moment was a turn-on. Um, the REST of the episode? Dunno'; I forgot.....JUST KIDDING. :P Some of that turn-on goes away after you realize you'd get burned alive & thorn-raped.......unless you're really kinky. :penguin_12:

Ep. 15: The Duel of Fortune Cup Commences: Great Aerial Assault! Giant Bomber Air Raid

Upon closer inspection, GOOD GOD IS AKI'S VOICE DIFFERENT FROM THAT IRRITATING SHIT! I mean, I heard a little of it in 14, but not quite enough to compare. Although the bad-assed-ness of her not even flinching ONCE during the entire duel hasn't changed. :P

I see what Shinobi meant about Divine's hair....... o_O

So begins the infamous "Speed Warrior = Kenny" references. DIED THREE TIMES in one episode. Yet, it doesn't seem to care.....

First use of Godfail's 'Fullmetal' arm. Not noticable: The probable shitstain left on the floor by Jaeger. :P

A little more timely, this time. :P

I've also stumbled upon a couple of things: A fellow Janime regular I know made his own dub-to-original comparison site for both GX & 5D's episodes; it's a great way to look at 4Killjoys' brainwashing techniques without enduring them. Link in my siggy. The other thing is another batch of 5D's subs containing a chunk of earlier ones with HQ setting; some of those in the TnKP batch were lacking the setting for some reason. However, the EXACT same wording in the subtitles is used, just in a slightly different font......


Ep. 22: Disclosed Past: The Duel Profiler vs. The Black Rose Witch

Ok, We get it. They're large.

This episode is 50% fanservice (.......yeah, Divine, like you really care about her face......), and 50% Yusei torture. "Something for everyone."

I actually hadn't noticed the fanservice much. All the Yusei torture takes most of my attention because I expect it.

Still, that's the best way to put that episode when one thinks about it.

Ep. 24: Victim Sanctuary: Become the Star Enveloping Destruction! Stardust Dragon

...........or 25 Minutes of Consecutive Love-Taps

...WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!?!?!? All of the attacks were horribly pathetic, esp. what I'll refer to as the "Cosmic Blast Money Shot". 23 had alluded to a great duel, but our hopes were crushed under the weight of fanservice.




Ep. 25: Fortune Cup Final! The Lone King, Jack Atlas

.......or You Take the High Road; I'll Take the Douche Road

Lots of notable moments: Ruka finally gets her Crimson Dragon Fan Club Official Member tattoo, we see how low Jack stooped in the beginning, and the infamous Yusei ULTRA COMBO SUPREME VICTORY FINISH. :P A great way to make up for the earlier crapfest.




Ep. 26: Destiny of the Signers! The Future Guided by the Crimson Dragon

A duel that pwned every other duel in the anime's history, only 26 episodes into the series. Nice way to set the bar, eh? I don't recall anyone in the past 2 series bleeding from the head at the end of a duel - granted Jack got wrecked, but that's not the point.

I had forgotten how much nerfing was done to Hyper Synchron in the OCG version. o_O

It's been awhile since I've seen that episode, but I'm pretty sure Jack used an equivilent of De-Fusion for Synchros there so RDD didn't get destroyed when Stardust attacked.

You might want to watch that episode again. I myself have watched 26 at least 14 times (just because of its awesomeness and the fact I can watch it on television using my PSP hooked up to an X360 via the USB cable).


Jack used Tuner's Mind to return RDD to his Extra Deck. That's also why Yusei was FORCED to attack Dark Repairer instead of Twin Breaker like he wanted (it's part of the effect of Tuner's Mind). So yes, it was like De-Fusion (or De-Synchro or the other card like it).

On Jack's next turn, he immediately Synchro'd using the stolen Hyper Synchron to gain the effect just as Yusei had done with Stardust Dragon (which is why Yusei was trying to destroy Twin Breaker, since you need a non-Tuner for a Synchro).



You were watching the subbed episode (right?), so you couldn't have missed that.

*facepalms* Crap, I forgot it went to the Extra Deck.........oops. :penguin_17: Guess I was thrown by the fact it was Synchro'ed twice in one duel.

Before I dip into the next arc, I have to say a few things:

Given my track record with writing review articles, this is the first one that I'm happy with; so I have to thank Searchman & Shinobi for getting me to do this.

Also, even though I'm happy with the way things turned out, it seems that my habit of not paying attention to things all the way is still getting in my way, as evident with Ep. 25 (now removing that part of my review). So, let me just make it clear that I appreciate it when people notice my mistakes. ;) Don't hesitate to point them out, pleez.

Apparently, this also applies to all of the other episodes he posted with that song in it.........ARGH.
