A lot of people would say the word "finally!!"...well, for 2 reasons, 1 is finally a new card review after another slack-off week by me, and 2 is finally the last "Legendary Demons" review after gods know how long (one year, I think)
Anyway, before all the DPs, the promos, and then STON, let me just finish the review that a lot of people just want to see (but no more)
Descending Thunder Emperor - Hamon
This card cannot be Normal Summon. This card cannot be special summon other than sending 3 face-up Continuous Magic cards from your field to Graveyard. When this card destroy an opponent's monster and it's send to Graveyard, do 1000 damages to opponent's lifepoints. When this card is on your field in face-up defense mode, opponent cannot choose other monsters as target of attack.
As like the other 2 Legendary Demons, it resembles one of the 3 original "god". Well, of course, yellow means this resembles Ra. Although it's not exact (i.e. the bones), but do anyone care? It's FREAKING "god card"!
This card is a level 10 Light/Thunder monster with stats of 4000/4000. As like the other 2 Legendary Demons, the level does not matter much since they're all "nomis" anyway. 4000/4000 is high attack/defense, but nowhere close to [F.G.D.], and it's the same as [Cyber End Dragon] and like, and would get the ass kicked by [Chimeratech Over"rated" Dragon]. OK...that aside, Light/Thunder does not matter much either. Since this card is special summon by sacrificing Continuous Magics...and who knows except this card, how much Light and/or Thunder deck would depend on them.
Let me just begin by talking about the special summoning requirement. This card is special summon by sending three whooping Continuous Magic cards from the field (have to be face-up also). So, which ones?
- Stallers: Swords, LVB, Messenger of Peace, Dark Door, Stumbling
- Utility: Wave-Motion Cannon, Magic Absorption, etc.
- Desperation: E,A,T,H (OK...NOT recommand), etc.
It's just not hard to figure out now why I never review this card, right?
Not yet? Let's look at this card's two effect (as like all other Legendary Demons)
For first effect, when this card destroy an opponent's monster, deal 1000 extra damages. Is the effect good? Well...it's OK since this card is big. The thing is? It's not very necessary, nor it breaks game. It's not bad...but...the next one IS...
So bad? Well, the second effect is that if this card is in face-up defense mode, your other monsters cannot be attack.
Read it again...defense mode.
In a game where each weapon and resource needs to be utilize to win, why even stall when one have a 4000 attack monster on the field? I have no idea. Scare of opponent's Traps? Well, one have to take the risk...so building up your monster forces? I would not even talk about removals here, but it's not like opponent cannot summon monster...
OVERALL - 6.4/10 - This "Demon" is well...big. But what else? It can lightning strike opponent for 1000, but with 2 effect that have no synergy with each other what-so-ever, or with a hard-to-summon monster having just one effect that is useful (but other monsters also have)...no no...pure power cannot win a game for a player. I would not even talk about playing against tournament deck here (which is STUPID to be compared to), but I would say in a game where stalls is HATE and heavily side against, a player playing a Hamon deck may have little chance of winning. The worse thing? There's just very few good Light monster in this game (the ones that are good? banned...)
