Title: Rule "update"
Description: Nothing really major

redbaronii - September 21, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
As I had seen this few weeks (or to months), many threads concerning upcoming products are influxed by GX anime discussions.

While speculation is allow for the upcoming products, discussion of GX anime (card/character) is not. So any posts with the translation/latest card from the GX anime outside of the anime discussion forum are now consider spams.

There's also one clarification I need to make: just because a member have the right to criticize the companies that make this game, and just because of my position on the game/real life itself, it does not mean a member should flame Upperdeck and/or 4Kids or President Bush in every other reply. Sorry, this is suppose to be a forum on discussion for the Yu-Gi-Oh OCG/TCG, not the place for those people who are banned from other forums to come here and start flaming everywhere.

I know this thread may be a little bit vague...so if anyone have any questions/concerns, feel free to reply.

And I don't know if this is a rule, but it comes up quite often. Somehow, people go completely off topic in certain discussion and begin to discuss other things about the game, or things completely unrelated. And, a certain member keeps pointing out grammar mistakes *coughsShinobiPhoenixcoughs*. If anyone else or I want to go around and make tiny grammar mistakes, then let it be. I'm sure people don't appreciate being corrected every post because they made some tiny mistake. It's actually quite rude. Now, if it's something major in which it makes it hard to decipher, then people won't mind as much.

BIWND:

I type this "rule" because of the numerous threads getting completely off-topic, and most of them are result of people suddenly putting new GX cards and their effects and how it would work in the metagame and etc while there's a WHOLE forum for it.

I cannot look at all the replies, but I would certainly agree that there're more off-topic replies than actual discussion.

As for grammar...let him be...(seriously, it would not take long for me to permanent ban him if he continue his way of pulling off a big "off-topic" in every topic)

Mega Mage3003 - September 25, 2006 09:26 PM (GMT)
Only reason I can reasonably see this happening is because people are putting up the new cards that they want to come in Strike of Neos, and are putting the translations of the card to prevent people from asking what it does.

No, you'd be surprised. Somehow, the topic can fly in several different directions. Shinobi is famous for that. Well, glad he was temporarily banned.

Eagle_Fierce - September 29, 2006 01:08 AM (GMT)

Firstly, you should never be glad to see someone Banned, Blue-Ice. We're supposed to be a family here, right? One may like seeing a family member get in trouble, but when they get injured, we should all be there to help. Personally, anytime I've seen Shinobi go off topic it was a cross-reference between two objects. Thus, I can't really call it off-topic.

Speaking of which, I can't really understand why even bother putting up these threads if you don't want Anime discussion in them. Boosters these days are majority GX, and when all you have is a name to go by, of course people are going to fill in the gaps. How? They look at the type of cards to fit the assumed name of the Booster, and start drawing lines from other cards used at the period in the Anime where the pack leader appears. We could all just post Dream Cards left and right in those threads, or simply not respond to them at all, at which point the thread becomes pointless and if unanswered, falls off the list and people's attentions. Slowly but steadily you kill a board when you limit what can be said. I'm not speaking that as a threat, but as experience. When anything deemed even potentially falamatory was banned from DMH, we had a drop in post count. I tried everything to get the post count back up, but it just wouldn't go. People are angry with the game, and these threads help them vent. Tell them to vent elsewhere and they will, but they won't be talking about it.

In short, I can understand launching a direct assault on someone, or constant bickering between two people to be cause for action, but just talking about the cards you think might be in a Booster is normal, IMHO, and part of what this board supposed to be about.

Edit: Another good example of what "facts only" gets you is another of the old boards that I was part of, LUSENET. There was once a Monster Rancher 2 database on there, and after a hacker attack, it moved to Monster-Rancher.com. It's personally owned by a friend of mine, and we all carried around writing out fanfics and what we'd like to see in the next MR, etc., posted Deck Recipes for Battlecards; basically it was a group, we had fun, we did a lot of research into how the games worked, and shared it openly with one another. Well, I recently went back there to see how things were going and the board was all but hanging by a thread. The head forum leader wouldn't allow new members, because they didn't read the FAQs. Information that was posted previously was condemned and deleted, as it was "in the archives," and post counts were WAY down, since nobody wanted to post something that MAY have been posted by someone else at some point and just got overlooked. There wsa only so much data that people could hack out of a game before the well ran dry. There was only so many games out there TO hack into and extract data from. More importantly, though, was that the forum was nearly void of opinion and thus new posts from over 60 members watered down to 5 a month.

It's not my place to tell you how to do your job, Baron, but I can show you what happens when you stomp on too many fingers at once. Just please try to keep these things in mind before you go deleting something without reading it first. Use your own judgment.

Everything happens for a reason, EF. Shinobi was an arrogant, rude, etc etc punk who needed to be taught a lesson. And heck, if he still hasn't changed, ban him permanently. I will reiterate that I'm glad he's gone. No one wants a member who ends up flaming and correcting every mistake they make, especially when it's a small one. Yes, he's gone off topic in more topics that can be counted, and it's not does not pertain to the subject of what is actually going on.

o_O Shinobi's banned? Huh....he'd be the last person I'd expect. Looks like he pissed Blue-Ice off big; he never seemed that bad to me. I guess I never payed enough attention to his actual posts.

I have an unintentional tendency to spam on occasion; I have one strike against me already (some people may be surprised), so looks like I'll have to be extra careful. :penguin_26:

Hell, for all I know, this post may be considered spam.... :penguin_25:

Shinobi was merely temporary banned. However, after that, he became inactive and looks like he isn't coming back. Our doors are still open to him however.

I agree with ya man....Simply put I don't remeber much flamming til recently...but I won't flame anyone or something (( Konami still gets me..meh))

Edit: Blue ice needs to chill, this place is fun and Shin was okay ^_^ No need to be angry or call someone names if they anger you. It'd be wrong for me to yell "Hip Hip Hooray" If you were banned so don't do it to others...before one can judge, one should check themselves. :penguin_8:

In my opinion these new "rulings" are alright. Most of them should be clear from the moment of joining the comet and by accepting the forum-rules. BUT Imo there are nearly none off-topic posts. When talking about a subject there are plenty of suiting ideas and facts that can be posted. Well and IMAO i think Shinobi is one of the few real duelists here in this comet. Why do i say so? How often did it happen that he tryed to explain and exemplify his view of things. The only thing he gained has been laughter or ignorance. I talk very often on Icq with him. He is educated and knows what posts are fitting on a topic and which not. I never felt he´s off topic. Maybe the narrowed views of some people are the reason why not getting the intentions of his posts. Sry for beeing arrogant or offense.
I have to admit that much posts can be very inspiringly and lead off- topic. But THAT is another thing he doesn´t affect. Well because of that he became banned(temporary or not :penguin_16: Its done for some reasons and those are ever meant to be personal. How would someone feel in that situation, come on..its too obvious that people are nerved because he corrected much people very often. As much as i can say it has ever been about the wording instead of the grammar when he critizised.
