Via email from Greg, Key West.

"I hope you can help me. My son-in-law is a commercial fishermen and he bring shells for me to trade.I collect only Volutes so I'm always looking worldwide. He brought me this Murex last week and I said Murex pomum but it was collected in 210 feet ,6-7 miles due South of Key West and has purple on the mouth." "... maybe you can ID this shell for me."

Sure looks like Chicoreus pomum (Gmelin, 1791) to me. The purple shaded aperture is not uncommon.
