Any chiton experts out there? This one is from Grand Cayman, about an inch long. I'm assuming Acanthochitona sp., but which one?

I am unfortunately extremely ignorant about Caribbean chitons, but this one does look a bit like the illustration of Acanthochitona pygmaea that is on page 165 of Rios's book on the chitons of Puerto Rico. The size does seem to be about right also, but honestly this is no more than a wild guess on my part.

Could be. It has similar green patches, and irregular greenish bars on the girdle.

Thanks.

You are probably right Susan, this looks like a specimen of Acanthochitona pygmaea (Pilsbry, 1893), the most common member of the Acanthochitonidae in the Caribbean. Only study of the specimen itself can confirm the determination.
Thanks again Les for another magnificent picture!
Bruno.
