Not the sharpest photos I've taken. Half an inch long, 20 feet deep, St. Vincent. White variant of Jasper cone?

Bill Fenzan, contributor to The Cone Collector Newsletter, made an attempt to interpret these cones.

"Apparent juveniles are not as easy to identify as apparent adults. Based on the size, I am guessing that this specimen was a juvenile when photographed. Since the spire profile does not match that of C. mindanus (see above), I think the best label for the photo is: Conus cf. pusio Hwass in Brugière, 1792. In my opinion, this shell is closer to C. pusio than specimens similar to the neotype of C. jaspideus Gmelin, 1791, so I don't think 'Jasper cone' is heading in the right direction.

Hope this helps. As always, my ids are tentative and I don't insist they are right.

Warm regards,

Bill"

Marlo: Many thanks to Bill for his time and effort to explain the basis for his analysis and conclusions.

See Conus jaspideus complex for images of the cones in this complex.
