From off Florida, about an inch and a half across. Broad radial ribs crossed by fine concentric lines, and fine radial lines in the depressions between the ribs. I haven't been able to find a good match. Aequipecten lineolaris has concentric lines but I haven't seen any with such prominent ribs. What is it?

Best match I can make is Bractechlamys antillarum (Récluz, 1853) .
However, size is a bit of a problem. Collecting habitat and where in Florida (east coast, Keys, etc.) would be helpful. |

"Come on Pecten lovers. Here’s one that has us stumped for almost a year.: Jim Cordy, Curator of Mollusks, Brevard Museum of Natural History: "It is Pecten antillarum. I have collected it many times in the Bahama Islands, but I do not recall finding it in Florida." Carole Marshall: "I also think it may be Bractechlamys (correct spelling) antillarum, but when they are very small, they also resemble and could be Nodipecten fragosus. What color is the shell? If it is light colored, it is antillarum." |
