Hip Hop is a Joke Written by Don S. aka MC PM$
What ever happened to those boyz who repped the street boom-boxes, turntables, break-dancing to the beat what ever happened to those thugged out lyrical poets envisioning a live better than what this concrete could ever show it what ever happened to emcees battlin', spittin'' on wax I guess the industry wants to blind us to these facts I write this poem, for revelation, as it was my hope but, my only conclusion is that HIP HOP IS A JOKE! to be honest, I can't stand this bullshit on the television nnggaz fronting with shit that ain't even theirs, a complete in-precision back in my day, the whole world can be summarized in a rhyme now all that matters is making a couple mil and a dime what ever happened to these descriptive hardcore lyrics now all I hear is how they want to sip imported spirits the beats are all too simple now, the content is cliche suburban whiggers now fronting like it's ML King day the streets that I once felt is gone, the damage is done rap today is crap, and their excuse it's for fun back in my day, it's was making a dollar out of nothing now a days, it's about making all dollars while fronting you know what, you can't make a lot of money selling the truth originality or consistency, does not apply to today's youth that's why you see all them sellouts, who once were ghetto proud who now rock their shows like industry puppets living loud and that's exactly the way that these suburbian executives want it them industry bastards leeching off our hood like counterfeit It never really mattered, if it was east side or west coast yet an industry fabricated the issue, in their office making a toast I am often criticized for not looking or acting like they do sporting regular clothing, not none of that Roca-Wear and Fubu now a days I am criticized by the fakers if I'm actually from the street I bet they don't know that we used to struggle everyday for something to eat still you idiots are hating, trying discredit and bash me like Tone-Toca, I shall say, KRS-One is my philosophy I wasn't always acting black, but I knew where I came from the same place most of these nnggaz was made, not the JC Penny and Nordstrom Truth is, you don't know me and you don't know who I am yet you expect me to be some kind of ghetto street brand I don't wear your trends, or go to your bullshit club nights I'm out there with the prostitutes, pimps, hustlers, and street fights in this rhyme, I will proceed to call out some existing names whether I give props or disrespect, well I guess that's the name of the game you know it's a shame that most won't really understand so I suppose a few examples might just give me a hand in reality, the street life was never my source of cash it was once best explained by Grandmaster Flash when he came up with "The Message" the view was truthful and artistic and now every one in the game is just two bit, greedy, and materialistic I guess it doesn't take much to sell a million record copies the production of a gimmick placed on top of a willingly able body I guess that's why I see the face of rap today being Eminem countering Vanilla Ice with comic raps, I think this guy is feminine why does this guy sell records and allowed to rap about anything yet all them other n*ggaz is reduced to rapping about bling I guess white corporate America can't relate to a black man rapping about his issues with his mom and how he has a mock murder plan I thought with the underground, I would almost find peace but then the worst had happened with the Black Eyed Peas before Fergie, they used to come with the most original shit I heard rapping bout, positivity, originality, the most honest art using word but then I suppose they started to questioned their income since keeping it fresh and creative was no longer considered fun so I suppose the label decided to add an edge to keep the group's career from going off a ledge they decide to add a blonde, blue eyed, lady swinger who had her background once as a female pop singer Stacey Ferguson came in, starting to look hip she kinda now looked like J-Lo, a significant makeover flip and now the group is enjoying multi-platinum album plaques and Grammy awards, billboard hits, shit they should have had in their first wax I understand their need to survive and feed their children but don't expect me to respect the art form they're missing I always try to elevate, move on, and become a man but I never forgetting the streets where I was bred was the plan I don't want to live out in your model American suburbs where white folk act like your values and etiquette is absurd now you got them whiggers coming out of their houses fronting with battle raps about shitting all over their spouses why don't you come to the hood and talk your nonsense there just one glimpse to these white boys would create erections in their hair Even though I don't agree completely, Ray Benzino is right hip hop has turned into a cash cow for the white I think he got the right idea, but used The Source as his bread perhaps I should educate you to a battle rhyme where he once said "what do you know about a grand jury indictment// as far as I'm concerned, you're just industry excitement" I used to be someone who listened to mix-tapes and records various underground artists, turntable remixes, and credibility reports now I'm almost ashamed to admit that I was a part of the culture seeing how these suckers act like they vultures In-fact this one time I was working as a corporate party DJ and this really dumb broad decided to come request hits up my way she wanted to hear some tracks that she considered hip hop and I had no problem cuing up a song that had no influence in shit pop I started to spin "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash and this dumb bitch started to act like an ass she said that she wanted to hear some shit that was 'hip hop' unbeknown to her that what I was spinning one of the the realest shit to drop she then bitched some more about wanting to hear the shit radio airplay and then I got mad pissed since that the radio really had nothing to display I told her to fuck off and go suck on a pinky ring that belonged to a commercial gangsta tryin' to do his thing you see, you have fake bastards who can't write 2 bars worth a line who trying to come up with their fake thug shit, trying to waste our time fronting with gold and platinum, some cheap excuse to flash bling 20 inch rims, nice cars, singing, looking for a cheap fling In-fact, I find nothing wrong with flashing the bling, showing success but to be honest, the message was completely lost turning the art-form into a mess all of this bullshit to me is completely unacceptable I wonder how much these posers would think these actions regrettable because of this nonsense, I have almost abandoned rap starting to listen to music which I once considered crap the downfall of hip hop, has now sparked new interests in 80's New Wave Synth pop, glam rock, and singers with Real Breasts why do you think I started writing sorts of various poetic curses eventually I will turn them to raps in the most descriptive verses I still listen to rap, but realistically only tracks recorded before '96 since to me that was the year that hip hop just started to get glits the complete year of downfall (to me) was 2002 that's when the industry perfected it's message untrue so here I am saying it, hip hop is a complete JOKE a lie, a whore, bastard, a cheap excuse for a toke it's not to be taken as a reference to your life especially when you haven't even touched a bit of real street trife there's more to be said, but for now this message is done in-fact this is just a form for what I consider part 1
