Registration Rules
1. When you register, your registered name must be your character's First and Last names. I can deal with name shorts (Jeff vs. Jeffery, Andy vs. Andrew, etc) but I do not want to see usernames like “Jason ‘J-Man’ Massey”
2. No using names of celebrities, TV characters, or anything like that
Acceptable: Elliot Smith, Bob Example, Chrystal Myers, Chris Johnson
Unacceptable: sunshine-Xx, Spongebob Squarepants, Gord ‘Freakshow’ Harris
OOC Rules
1. Respect Others: This board was not created to insult each other. There will be no flaming or criticizing. Chikabi welcomes all regardless of race, nationality, disability, sexuality, etc.
2. Respect the Staff: The staff work hard to keep everything running and organized and will not put up with disrespect.
3. Chatspeak: Please use minimal chat speak. (it iz rely hrd 2 red a pst were u tlk lyk dis) in or out of character, even when your character is using a cell phone or internet.
4. Rating: On this site, swearing is allowed, though not in extent. I don’t want to see posts with a cuss word every second word. Violence is allowed (but beware of Godmoding), but include a warning if a lot of gore is involved. On the romance/lust side of things, it is allowed, but use the more tasteful ‘rewind’ system. Anything really high-rated should be tagged with an [M]
IC Rules
The following are not allowed:
1. Godmoding: The act of controlling another character. You control your character and your character only.
Example: Jenny was disgustingly angry. She picked up a book and threw it at Darcy. It hit him in the skull and knocked him unconscious.
2. Powerplaying: Similar to Godmoding, made by automatic connections to a character.
Example: Jenny saw Darcy. They used to be friends when they were in kindergarten.
3. Mary Sues: Mary Sues (or Gary Stus when referring to male characters) are perfect and free of flaws and nothing they do has consequences. Mary Sues are extremely annoying and show lack of experience roleplaying. But the opposite is not good either. No overly depressive, suicidal, evil characters either.
Example: Bob Example Was captain of all the school teams, dated the cheerleader, but was having an affair with his French teacher. Everyone liked him and he was extremely handsome.
4. Post Length: I have high expectations for everyone on this site. I know no one can consistently come up with 150 word posts, but I will be happy if over 70% of posts are over 60 words. One liners are strictly forbidden. Everyone is capable of coming up with at least two lines of text. If you can’t seem to, I suggest you go to bed, get some sleep, and try again later.
5. Grammar/Spelling: Everyone makes typos, but if you can’t type a sentence without misspelling a word, I suggest you run your replies through word or spellcheck before posting or find another RPG.
