 Why Christy Has Been So Busy. |

Because I want to work up the suspence, I'm going to drag out this speech for as long as possible until you all start getting annoyed with me. Has anyone been wondering why there are little ! beside a whole bunch of the archive threads? Has anyone been wondering why Christy has been reading through them all. Has anyone been wondering why Christy is trying to wrap up threads and procrastinating on adminning stuff?
Well, this is all because for the last month, Christy has been making careful and diligent prepration for... *drrrrrum rollllll*
THE SNAZZY NEW CHIKABI BOARD!!!!!
That's right! The new Chikabi board has snazzy new team icons, snazzy new forum markers, snazzy new coding, snazzy new organization >.<
The threads that I saw most important to character developement (that were over a certain length) from the archives have been transfered over to the new board. I'm sorry that I couldn't move everything, but it took hours and hours to move around half of them.
Also, there have been adjustments to rules. From now on, avatars must be 100x100. The character limit is six student characters and two staff/non-student characters. Sorry, that's just the way it is. I felt that the character limit needed to be in place. All too often I've had to delete characters that get neglected simply because there's just no time for them.
Also, there are now proper clubs and sports! And a new plot! So you should definitely check that out. You should check everything out! Changes have also been made to the format of the character sheet. I'm not going to require you to redo you sheet, but even if you could just cut and past it into the new format, I would REALLY appreciate it.
When you rejoin, I will restore your post count and house and year, so no worries about that. I'm also going to start pushing more plot use (like theose relationship plots) because I feel that they're really nifty little things and they help new comers settle in better. If their character has friends or enemies, it gives them somewhere to start. And part of the reason why I created the new board was make it a bit more welcome to new comers and look less out-dated >.< Chikabi has been around for a while and I want it to seem as sparkly and new as it was when it was originally created by Jinxeh in 2005 (that's right, Chikabi's 3 on June 21st).

MORE VACATION JUNKIt about time to schedule a proper Vaction time frame. Because It is not actually the summer where everyone would typically have more time to post, I've decided that the entire month of April will be devoted to the Chikabi student summer vacation. The Sign ups for leaving and houses are up, so if you're interested, get on that.
For new characters, it's typcial that they stay the summer and adjust to the new surroundings. And established students are also allowed to stay or come back early if they wish to do so.
TEACHERSI keep getting asked how students get normal education. I'm starting to think that a few teachers teaching normal subjects, or at least tutoring or something would be appropriate. But I'd like a second, or third, or fourth opinion. Subjects taught would include English, Biology, Physics, et cetera, et cetera.
MEMBER OF THE MONTHTo fill up space in the side bar mostly, I have considered having it set up as follows: First week, first threee nominations for female character of the month, male member of the month, couple of the month, and best quote of the month will be turned into a poll that will run for the remainder of the month to determine the winner of the month.
This will not however replace the annual Shouhins (which will be in June like always).

SUMMER(ERERER)Yesterday I realized that March was on the fast approach. That's both an exciting and intimidating thought because March marks the begining of Chikabi summer and that means... drumroll: a whole lot of crazy admin work! Over summer, all characters will be automatically advanced (as long as the character was accepted before the date JANUARY 20TH, 2008) to the next year. Our veteran 3rd years (all like four of them now >.<) with become 4th years, 2nd years become 3rd years, et cetera, et cetera. This is tedious work. Almost all accounts (and there or over 70 student characters) will have to be changed from member groups and title descriptions in sheets will be changed. This takes a pretty damn long time, so if you see half of the member groups changed and half of them not, that's because I only have time to do a fraction of the changes at a time.
Also, this is the perfect time to adjust various sections of your character sheets. For example, you may edit your characters height (because 14 year old boys do not have a habit of remaining the same height for the 10 months of a school year) or edit the history (for things may change at school and at home over the course of the school year).
But during this busy time for me, your patience is appreciated.
VACATIONIt seems like I just took down vacation homes, but now I just have to put them back up again! The sign-ups for character homes and leaving for summer holidays will be up as soon as I manage to get them up.

REVAMP (GENERAL) I have decided that Chikabi needs to be generally cleaned up. As much as I'm itching to create an entirely new board and start fresh, I'm choosing this instead. There will be character clean-outs, clenaing out old threads, creating sub-forums, and other means of attempting organization. Also, I will likely implement a few new rules and regulations (and don't you groan). ACCOUNT CLEAN OUTThere is a massive amount of under-used chraacters, or characters that are rarely used at all. This is an issue. Chikabi has never really had a character limit and I don't want to implement one know, but I might decide to. Please, before you go and create another chraacter, consider how much time you will actually commit to the site and the character. Also, even as I am asking you to consider your list of characters, I don't like to see people who create a character and months later delete them. If you are going to create a character, again, see it as a permanent commitment.
If you have any characters that you would like to drop or that are under-used, please reply to this announcement with the names of those characters. THREAD CLEAN OUTI will be moving all topics with last posts dating before December 25th, 2007 to the archives to clean up the board. Also, and threads started before that same date, but never replied to, I will just be deleting. It helps me as an admin if you finish your topics completely and end them with your characters leaving (saying this may be slightly hypocritcal) and it ties things up nicely and whatnot. NEW RULESAVATARS: I've decided that it's about time to settle on an avatar size for the board. There being a variety of avatar sizes on the board is beginning to make it look untidy. I'm considering either 100x100, 125x125, or 140x140 but am interested in members opinions.
APPLICATIONS & NEW ACCOUNTS: Also, because I do not like WIP applications cluttering my board, I am now saying that you must finish your application within a week of first posting it before it will be deleted. And new members must post their apllication (it can just be a work in progress to start) with a week of registering with Chikabi. MISC.In other notes, I will be redoing the banner and team icons soon, to match the current color scheme and am still playing with the idea of getting a side bar, which I'm sure you are all familiar with. Also, I will be putting the Dorm Houses into a Dorm Sub-forum so you don't have to scroll past all of the houses all the time. Finally, I'm reminding everyone that it is polite, and sometimes legally neccessary to provide credit to creators of avatasrs and signatures, base credit for dolls, and other graphics where these graphics may be posted.

HOLIDAYS
I know that's what you've all been waiting for, so bring out the mistletoe and the tree and the strings of popcorn. Go for it! Christmas threads are allowed to bleed into January (even though, technically, that's getting into spring, but Christmas is more important. But please no new threads in the Home Sections after January 14th.

This shall be more ongoing during the holidays since everyone is out of school, and shall in Chikabi time take place before anyone leaves for holidays. Oh, the magic of time in RPG land.
