Basic Stats Full Name: Jason Riordran Nicknames: Jase Age ( 14 to 17): 17 Year: First Birthday: 13 April, 1991
Physical Stats Hair Color/Styles: Dirty blond surfer-shag Eye Color/Shape: Blue, a bit big, "butterfly eyes" with long lashes Height/Weight: 6'2" (190ish cm) Physical Fitness: Fit without being ripped...strong muscles and lots of stamina, but no bulging chiseled glory. Nice square shoulders, though. Tattoo/Piercing: none Scars: Jase has an oval scar where his right ear ought to be, unmistakable tooth marks just above his right knee, and a long line-shaped scar down each wrist from the heel of his hand nearly to his elbow. Details are in the history section - patience, young grasshopper! Clothing Style: Very casual. T-shirts with all sorts of logos and punchlines, jeans in more shades of blue and states of disrepair than most people can imagine, enough black hoodies to get three different refugee camps through the winter at once, big (relative to other peoples', not to his feet) shoes that always have good grip on the soles, when he's not barefoot. Other: His limbs are far too long for his body, which makes Jase roughly average height (but sprawled all over the place) when he's sitting down. He doesn't slouch constantly, but even when he's standing straight up his back looks suspiciously slanted.
Personality General Personality: Laid back is the phrase for Jase...most of the time. He goes out of his way to avoid any sort of trouble or even any positive recognition...most of the time. He's excruciatingly relaxed - while the slacker vibe may be cool in moderation, Jase manages to annoy the hell out of everyone with it - he obviously isn't an idiot, but he just as obviously is willing to put up with a lot more than most. Most of the time. When something manages to rub him the wrong way, though (and it's tough) Jase goes into what his old friends described as a Code Bitchzilla Situation - think Gandhi's followers having their heads cracked open for their beliefs, only far taller, stronger, and more eloquent. The contrast between his standard attitude and this intense fighter manages to get nearly every authority figure he encounters incredibly frustrated with him. The one other exception to his general state of relaxation is when he thinks something's gone wrong for someone - he's the sort of guy who'll follow you through a minefield to give you his shoulder to cry on. Strengths: Taking things in stride. Jase will try to make friends after an insult that would result in a shootout with others. He's also extremely caring and thoughtful when he remembers to be, and usually ends up playing conscience and comforter to everyone he knows. Hang ups: The way Jase treats social equals and the way he treats authority figures are precisely the same - which without exception drives authority figures crazy. In fact, he's occasionally a bit more belligerent with the authorities. He believes far too passionately in a few things that no one else is willing to give passing consideration, which alienates him from a lot of people. He's also often a bit too judgmental for his own good, especially as concerns fellow teenage males (who he is all too willing to lump in with several unsavory figures in his past). Finally, he has very little patience for those he views as full of themselves, and makes it his personal mission to "deflate" them - this doesn't make him many friends. How Your Character Reacts with Others: Initial reactions are usually polite in Jase's own way. When he's comfortable with someone, he has practically no inhibitions as far as they're concerned - any comfort is absolute comfort. On the other hand, before he becomes comfortable with them, he tends to avoid them, and things can get awkward when he isn't able to.
Family Family Pets: One German shepherd named Tango, who got rabies and bit Jase before his skull got bashed in with a wrench by Grease (see below). Family Members: Jase's rather wealthy parents died when he was twelve years old, and rather than be distributed to relatives with their other possessions, he left for the street. He had a rather extended "family" there after two years or so, but those who influenced him the most were: Grease, the quintessential tough guy, Jase's father figure, and a mechanic who could make or fix nearly any gadget, Abel, best described as a preppy douchebag, and Hank, who was cockier than Jase was relaxed.
History Blood Lines (Italian, Japanese, etc.): Nearly pure Scottish on his father's side, some inexplicable mongrel of European nations on his mother's HomeTown: Beverly Hills, California, but starting age 12 he lived in Compton (the bit of Los Angeles that makes the worst parts of Harlem look like downtown Washington DC) History (detail, hun, details): For the first twelve years of Jase's life, he was the typical rich kid. Didn't have to clean up or cook or wash a damn thing himself, had a private tutor for everything from piano to math to boxing, very little time to himself, as his parents' main goal in life was to turn him into the perfect young man. What little energy he did have to spare from their...ministrations...he spent on video games like any other kid. Then when he was twelve, his parents both died under very suspicious circumstances at a wine-tasting. His uncle, the executor of his parents' estate, was to become Jase's legal guardian, and Jase didn't want that - this was the uncle who gave Jase stocks for Christmas every year and incessantly lectured him on the requirements for being a fine gentleman, which apparently included scoffing at everyone and everything one encountered. He left with nothing but a backpack full of junk food - his uncle had already "secured" everything his parents had had worth anything - and walked for miles until he got mugged by a boy four years older who was shocked that Jase, who exuded rich kid, had absolutely nothing valuable on him. He "persuaded" Jase to tell him his story with the tried-and-true method of "threaten them with a knife until they give in", and when Jase explained his pain and desperation to him, the older boy offered Jase a spot in his gang. Jase accepted. This was his first meeting with Grease. Jase lived with Grease and his gang in an abandoned warehouse for four years, living on what they stole and swindled, before he manifested his power. It happened in a street fight - suddenly everyone seemed to slow around him, and as he delivered the final punch to a suddenly helpless opponent, he acquired a blinding headache and passed out cold. As these episodes began occurring more and more frequently, he lost his literacy - every words he read turned to an advertisement for some academy. He felt that whatever this was, he would resist it, and accustomed himself to going without reading, though it felt like he was missing a limb. Then on a raid into a rival gang's turf, he saw three policement savagely beating a pair of young girls for no reason that he could see. While his friends managed to keep him from leaping to their defense - a good thing, as the policemen all carried tazers and guns - he immediately reported them and bore witness in court to their inhumanity. After they were removed from the force and before they reached prison, however, they hunted Jase down to punish him, slicing off an ear and then slashing both his wrists in a failed attempt to kill him and fake his suicide. When he returned home with very little blood left in him and Tango attacked him, Jase finally gave up on keeping his life on the street and left for the academy.
OtherPreferences: Hobbies: Speaking Mannerisms (accents, fidgeting with hair if nervous, etc.): Jase speaks strangely, with some cross between the lazy drawl that fits his appearance and the high-strung, blunt, tension-filled speech of the street. He has that Los Angeles accent that nearly no one finds at all distinctive due to Hollywood's prevalence. His standard expression is a smirking half-smile that puts some at ease and makes others extremely uncomfortable.
Powers Control (amount of control over powers): Very little Abilities: Jase is capable of slipping outside the normal connection of space and time, moving so fast that others see him as nothing more than a blur. However, this places extreme stress on his body, and his brain invariably becomes disconnected from reality such that he passes out and the acceleration ceases before too long. Even when not accelerated, however, he seems to possess uncanny knowledge of his environment, making him capable of feats of accuracy others cannot approach, and the confidence this gives him makes him confident enough that his movements are more swift and sure than those of most.
Player Name (just something to call you by OOC): Eric Other Characters (if any): Nope Where Did You Hear About Chikabi?: Google Other: Sorry about the crappy writing quality here...my actual RP posts will be much better, I promise. I'm not good at the character-background type of writing. :/
