Welcome to Chapter Thirteen! We're a literate Harry Potter RPG set in the year 1294 - needless to say, things are a little different at Hogwarts. It's a different building and a different structure, all in a completely different world.
If you're looking for a literate RPG that focuses on your plot and character ideas and where almost anything goes, Chapter Thirteen is the place for you!
Currently we are playing any time between January and March 1294. Want to know what the weather's like? Click here.
This teaching stuff wasn't as easy as he had anticipated it would be, and the brats children were annoying exuberant to the point of homicidal tendencies exhaustion for the poor new teacher. -Ignatius Flint
[03.24.09] Hey, check out the fancy list of threads! It's a list of all of the threads, current and archived, including a list of participants and a short summary. :)
Since it's a pain to have to dig through all of the threads trying to figure out where the information you're looking for is, here is a list of all of the information on the board, with a link and a brief description included so that you hopefully can actually find what you're looking for without having to think too much. <3
The General Information Forum
Chapter Thirteen: A Beginner's Guide. This is essentially a 'How-To' to getting accepted at Chapter Thirteen, from the point of registration to what to do just after your first character gets accepted.
General Board Rules. Since no one's too cool for these rules. They don't change very often, and we'll announce any changes that we do make, so you shouldn't need to go searching for these too often.
The FAQ. Another self-explanatory thread... hopefully. If you think that there should be a question added to the FAQ, give Theresa a shout.
Helpful Links. A list of links that are useful for biography writing, post writing, medieval reference, Harry Potter reference... you name it.
Board Staff. The contact information and character list for the board's staff if you ever find yourself needing to get a hold of us and don't really want to post in the Questions for Administration forum.
The IC Resources General
Spell Lists and Tables. All of the spells, both dark and normal, that have been either used in the books or thought up by Chapter Thirteen members, all organized into handy-dandy lists and tables. There is also a basic guide to making up your own spells, in case you decide to get creative and make a few of your own.
The NPC Account. The NPC account is an account that can be used by anyone to fill in roles that are not currently filled but temporarily need a character in them. Please note that this account is for member use only, and the administration really appreciates it if you don't screw around with it (ie change the password on everyone or something).
Weather. The weather thread details the weather for the year 1294, so you have a basic idea of whether or not your character could be feasibly running into the school dripping wet from the pouring rain outside, or something like that.
Hogwarts
School Supplies and Uniform. This thread contains a list of items all Hogwarts students are required to bring to school, a list of textbook titles, and descriptions of normal clothing, quidditch clothing, and dueling clothing. As Hogwarts students have no uniform, the only uniforms detailed in the thread are those for team/House sports such as quidditch and dueling.
Maps of the School. Some floorplans that were created to give everyone a general idea of what Hogwarts manor looks like, since the school isn't actually in the castle.
Quidditch. A basic description of how Quidditch is played at Hogwarts, since the teams aren't determined by House and the school runs all year, not from September - June.
Map of Hogsmeade. A small map to give you the general idea of where Hogwarts is in proximity to Hogsmeade, and where the important places in Hogsmeade are located.
The Wizarding World
On Blood. Since Chapter Thirteen takes place in a different era than the books, we have a slightly different approach to the relations between purebloods, halfbloods, and muggle borns. This list also includes all of the wizarding families (pure and halfblooded) and their class in society.
Wizarding Law. Bored with breaking the school rules? Break a few magical laws! Or, if your character is heading into politics (or has been a part of the wizarding world for any length of time), they should be familiar with these magical laws - these are the ones that are different from those in the books.
Shops and Stores. A list of the various shops and stores throughout wizarding England that your character has probably visited at some point in their life or another.
Sports and Games. This thread details the different wizarding past times of the era.
Careers. This list has some common wizarding occupations, so you can give your character some idea of where they might be heading in life. If you've thought of something that isn't seen there, feel free to give one of the admin a shout and we'd be more than happy to add it to the list.
Muggle and Wizarding Clothing. A thread describing different sorts of magical and muggle clothing, so you can get a better idea of what your character would probably be wearing around the school.
Potions Ingredients. A list of potions ingredients so that if your character needs to know something, you can actually refer to some place and make them sound all smart-like, even if you don't have a clue what they're going on about.
Wizarding Government. Basic descriptions of how local councils, the Wizard's Council, and other ways that wizards commonly use to govern themselves.
