Title: UD Graphic enhancer
Thalarion - January 4, 2006 03:27 AM (GMT)
The UD Inventory and Graphics Enhancer
(called the UDToolbar) is a FireFox extension with a number of features to improve the look and function of the Urban Dead game interface. Besides making the buildings into pretty pictures, it also combines your inventory, gives you a button to easily repeat common actions like attacking and searching and even provides a way to submit Revivification Requests
directly from the game interface. Here's a sample screenshot:
The current maintainer, sluutthefeared
participates on this thread, so feel free to ask questions or make suggestions here.
When you install or update the extension, you will also need to download the CSS file (available on the same page) and, once you restart Firefox, open UDToolbars preferences window and load the CSS file. If you are also using the UDTool for faction recognition you will need to turn of UDTools inventory combiner as they will conflict and neither will work properly.

Ewwwww, you made me look in that other forum! :(
Next time just replicate the notice/links. ;) It looks like this works with UDTool? It sems to do the inventory different (and I kind of like the way UDTool does it). I also find the UDTool colorizer FAR to useful to risk breaking for pretier building icons.
Thalarion - January 4, 2006 03:39 AM (GMT)
Man, did you even LOOK at the picture? I use both without having a problem, thank you very much. Note the MFD and MPD members in the building with me and their different colors.
I should also add that I've created some custom icons for the weapons. If you're a fan of the Fallout series, I'll be posting a link shortly for you to download them.
Impetus - January 4, 2006 04:54 AM (GMT)
That's pretty damn awesome. Too bad I use Safari...
Thalarion - January 5, 2006 06:18 AM (GMT)
Fallout icons have been uploaded. You can grab them here
. Once you extract these in the appropriate area under your chrome directory it will replace Assidragons Icons (do a search for "siteA" under your documents and settings\profile\application data folder).
Mike Draven - January 6, 2006 12:45 AM (GMT)
Wow, very cool mod. I have everything working, and I'll try installing the Fallout images next!
Hendrik Casimir - February 4, 2006 11:11 AM (GMT)
Those Fallout icons are pretty neat. I'm amused by the Jagged Alliance ones, too. Of course, those are two of my favorite games ever.
Actually with the JA2 icons, I think he should have used the X-Ray Detector for the DNA Extractor instead of the shaped charge, but that's just me.
Scorpios - February 5, 2006 12:48 AM (GMT)
Thal, I f'ing love you. That takes me back...
But comeone, where are the Stimpacks?
Thalarion - February 5, 2006 01:23 AM (GMT)
What would you have me use the stimpacks for? :D All of the item icons are already filled.

I use Safari for everything but Urban Dead. Firefox is worth it!

Sorry. Can't find where to put your icons. I've done a find at / and still can't find the icon names that you are replacing. Any words of wisdom?? (I'm on a mac.)
Thalarion - February 5, 2006 03:33 AM (GMT)
For Mac? Hmmm, good question. Let me see what I can find out for you.
Apparently jack and diddly squat. Anyone with more Mac experience want to tackle this one? Sphinx? Deer Runner?

Like you ever used Medkits in Fallout 2.
purgossu - February 7, 2006 06:01 PM (GMT)
Great job with this GE!
I'd like to make a question/petition: now that Opera
browser has made his own "plugin system"
, would it be possible to develop an Opera widget version of UD graphic enhancer?
(Yup, I'm a happy Opera user ^_^)
Thalarion - February 7, 2006 06:16 PM (GMT)
Ha! What programming language does it use? These are all community-driven so we'd need to know the language before anyone starts to write plugins :)
AnotherZombieKiller - February 9, 2006 12:22 AM (GMT)
wow having IE sux V_V I gotta get Firefox
I know that FireFox is easy to Hack so I didn't ever think about getting it but now... for the sake of UD I guess I have to. :)

And for those of you who have NO idea as to what I am talking about, this is a plugin for Firefox only that changes the look of Urban Dead. Here's a sample screenshot:
what inventory list extension do you use? i like the looks of that one.
Thalarion - February 10, 2006 10:41 PM (GMT)
That's part of the plugin and it's the default organizer and icons. The icons are from Jagged Alliance.
kegstand - February 10, 2006 10:43 PM (GMT)
oh awesome. does the ud homing beacon still work with the plugin?
Thalarion - February 10, 2006 10:53 PM (GMT)
Yep, it should. Though I don't use that much with three different characters these days.
Officer Plaz - February 28, 2006 06:41 PM (GMT)
Very nice i just downloaded the plugins and they do come in handy.
Terminator 484 - March 1, 2006 03:08 AM (GMT)
Seeing this is what made me finally get off my butt and try Firefox out. Got used to it for a few days and got this expansion early in my gameplay experience. Sweetness, and makes navigation in the game much easier, as I can actually start to recognize the building by the way they look, instead of their names (which is easier, as I am a purely visual person).
|what inventory list extension do you use? i like the looks of that one.|
Looks like the UDTool. It does that and more...
I also got the UDTool today, for coloring names and such, and the two go together like a pair of turtle doves. Excellent... B)
I now see your names in colors when I run across you guys in-game. Perfect for picking fellow DEA members out of a crowd... :D
Tammy Jones - March 3, 2006 04:22 PM (GMT)
I wish I could change to firefox, but my mom doesn't want it, and it's against school regulations on this computer.
Thalarion - March 3, 2006 04:36 PM (GMT)
Doesn't want it? Who says you have to install it on the computer? Firefox can be installed on a thumb drive
and they're dirt cheap these days.
Shadow174 - March 7, 2006 04:12 AM (GMT)
It says to use the UD toolbar menu but i dont see any toolbar for UD
Thalarion - March 7, 2006 03:16 PM (GMT)
Make sure you have gone to the view menu, then to toolbars, then select the UD Toolbar
Shadow174 - March 8, 2006 11:32 PM (GMT)
I dont think i have th UD toolbar how do i get it?

Go to installation, and just download the 46b link.
(Provided you're using Firefox.)
For anyone already using the toolbar, there is a new version available (although according to the author, it has some bugs; I'm using that version right now):
Shadow174 - March 10, 2006 11:09 PM (GMT)
ok i figure out what was wrong i didnt have fire fox loaded all the way heh
Monkeylord - March 11, 2006 06:13 AM (GMT)
Is it supposed to say "163 humans" instaid of the names?
Winnan - March 11, 2006 01:12 PM (GMT)

| Is it supposed to say "163 humans" instaid of the names? |
by default, it's supposed to. However if you want to go back to the original look, disable "Survivor Count"
Thalarion - March 11, 2006 03:28 PM (GMT)
Just be aware that will throw the map all out of whack and you'll get some rather ugly results when you see all the names.
Borizmeiko - March 15, 2006 10:02 PM (GMT)
Link to the Enchancer and Toolbar added to the UD Websites+Links Forum.
Alex DeWitt - March 16, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
I'm finally giving it a try. Very nice overall! I'm suprised they can't manage to dig up an image of a Fire Axe and such for the inventory float, but I assume that will all get filled in.
I am a bit annoyed that there is a forum button on the toolbar, but it only has the desensitized forum! :arrr: I'm trying to get in touch with EQ to get access to the source. I'd like to alter the forum button to either list the three main forums, or at least allow users to change the forum (or select a botton for any/none of them) in the preferences. I've also offered to enhance the link to the DEM Revive Request tool so that when linked from the enhancers toolbar it pre-fills out most of the request form, using the loggged in character and current location.
Winnan - April 20, 2006 01:22 PM (GMT)
As of the latest development build (53b), it now includes a link to the DEM revive request tool... sounds good. :)
'Big Red' McCardel - April 20, 2006 01:33 PM (GMT)
There was actually a link to our tool back in 51a. I did finally get in touch with the coder (Kyle the Feared) and talked to him with some ideas. I sent him the patch for adding Brainstock to the forums and such. He seemed willing to add some features for the RevReq tool, but in general updates that tool just for his own purposes. As a dedicated PKer this means he just has no interest in working on certain things, or at least they have very low priority.
Winnan - April 20, 2006 01:48 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah, on the popup menu in-game, there's now a "make a DEM revive request" option.
sluutthefeared - April 21, 2006 07:30 AM (GMT)
As Winnan said, there's now some support for the DEM revive tool in UDToolbar 53b.
There's a link on the user menu which looks like this:
Clicking it opens a small window where you can enter a comment and submit the request from within the UD page.
I plan to add further support soon, such as viewing revive request in your area inside the UD page with a single click and a few other associated features.
There will probably also be additions to the forums links and options to choose which forums you want on the menu.
And I'll probably begin reading the forums here too, so feel free to make suggestions.
Alex DeWitt - April 21, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
Sweet!!! Many thanks! I've updated my version, so I'll test it out soon. I had disabled it do to difficulties with reviving people and seeing my zombie firends, but rumor has it that has been resolved as well. :) Thanks Kyle!
'Big Red' McCardel - April 25, 2006 12:17 AM (GMT)
OK, upgraded and re-enabled and the latest version is much improved! Zombie recognition appears to be fixed, so I can provide revives again (and some may notice all their zombie friends!). And the new revive request feature works great! You do need to download and import the latest CSS file as well as the extension, or you'll see the RevReq form floating around randomly.
Now if only if someone would revive Alex. This is the first time I've waited more than probably 12 hours for a revive once it's in the request tool, and he's going on ... 3 1/2 days now! :(
