PR: Back with a Venjix

All the power to you. I just can't watch it. All those times I've heard that Super Sentai is a live-action anime couldn't prepare me for this Japanese wierdness. Katamari Damacy I can handle, this is just too much.

Frankly I like RPM for defying the Sentai footage. Its not because I dislike Go-Onger though, its because we don't see that very often. Right out of the gates of a new Executive producer other than Kalish, we get a season thats pushing the envelope. What was the last season that did something completely different with the footage it was given? Dino Thunder? Lost Galaxy maybe? This is exactly what I want to see from PR in its final hours... If they really are its final hours.

Sure, Go-Onger doesn't mesh with... grimdark, or whatever you said, but I'd rather have faux-grimdark than have AmeriGo-Onger.

As far as American Toku is going, most of the fans agree that RPM is owning Dragon Knight thus far (Story, characters and not to mention ratings). Sure, those fans are mostly PR fans, but would those fans lie for weed? We don't think so.

Not to mention that DK is off to a rocky start.

I'm convinced its over until the continuation comes directly from the horse's mouth, Disney I mean. BoA probably thinks that PR isn't "cancelled" until they stop making toys. They have so many Super legends left to make!

Ugh, can you imagine, BoA with complete creative control over Power Rangers. X-Treme Fury Rangers anyone?

Well anyway, I'd rather have daddy-issues and Reverse-Evil-Lily over "Mahha Zenkai!" and "Sumairu Sumairu!" anyday.

Well... I don't mean to sound too antagonizing about Go-Onger, but most of the people I've seen who like Go-Onger recognize why so many people dislike it and respect why more people would rather have a more meaningful PR adaptation. Go-Onger is cheese and filler, RPM is meat and fluff. I mean its worth watching for the in-jokes alone...

I just don't see how anyone who gives a damn about this long-running children show can pass off RPM for being based on a series that very quirky, especially for not being quirky. If anything, I feel that RPM is an improvement on Go-Onger that the creators should be proud to call an adaptation of their... strange show. It has story and characters and somehow even stays true to the light-heartedness of Go-On. Honestly, if I had been given the reigns, there would be far less humor... But RPM pulled it off.

Its not Dino Thunder yet, but I'm proud to call it PR.

I think I don't explain myself well when I post about my feelings on topics.

Anyway.

I'm not judging RPM on Go-onger Vs. RPM, or at least I'm not trying in a compare the show type way. I'm only comparing in the way the atompshere is and I how fell it should be.

Grimdark is fine where grimdark fits. I love me some death and dramatics in some of my mech stuff. I really do.

All I'm saying is how go-onger was, I was expecting, no WANTING a campy "fun" power rangers series.

I was expecting talking animals, with rangers that are part of some they of environment protection squad or something. The "kid field trip" would've fit in my mind then.

Hell with the "Go Green" campaign going on I was expecting end of episode lessons with the rangers like Don't leave the lights on or water running.

I was expecting silly, and I guess I'm highly sore on the fact I'm not. I mean such cute zoids, and outfits are being forced into a role I don't think they fit personally.

Now about the rangers. I'm not comparing to the sentai counterparts. Not in anyway. I've only seen three episodes on go-onger, and read most of the summaries (Which I had no problem with compared to others).

I just don't like the actors/characters of red and yellow in this series. They needed to be replaced before the show started to be filmed. Of anything THEY are the reason I switch the channel. ANYTIME they show up of the episode I just get the urge to stop watching. Yellow is the worst of the two. I see here and go into a WTF IS THIS? I really hate her for some reason.

tl;dr I don't like RPM because I think it should be silly and not grimdark. About evinroment rangers vs polluting monsters. I don't give a damn about Go-onger VS. RPM as a show, I just like the more fun way about going about the show with go-onger. Plain and simple I don't like Grimdark with my Power rangers it seems.



Though I understand people want serious shows, and like the grimdark. More power to you.

Just watch it all, you spoony bard and you'll like it.


I can't believe you formed an opinion on Go-Onger from three episodes. I've seen 20-something and god-knows-how-many clips on Youtube. I gave it a fighting chance and I still haven't ruled out watching the whole series someday. I might even marathon it as a show of good faith, but I'll say this one last time...

Go-Onger would not make a good PR series without changes. RPM made changes beyond my fondest dreams. I am happy. Its not because its apocalyptic. Sure PR has never done apocalyptic before so thats a fun new departure for the series. That is however not why I like it. I like it because it a good series of PR thus far. Get over what you thought it should be and give a GOOD show the chance it deserves. I won't claim that it will make you fall in love in 8 episodes. I'm still a bit on the fence. If you ever enjoyed PR ever, you will give this show a chance and shut up about Go-Onger. Go-Onger is over. Now we have Shinkenger. And it is beautiful.

And RPM is plenty of campy fun, what show are you watching?

The codename of the "military think tank" where Dr. K was raised "Alphabet Soup" would seem to explain why her name is a letter. If that's the case, would it be correct to assume that at one time there was a "Dr. A", "Dr. B", "Dr. C", etc? Sure, since Corinth is the last civilization on Earth at this time, most of them are probably dead, but it wouldn't be such a stretch of the imagination to assume that at least one more is alive somewhere. Here are some hypotheses...

-One "Doctor" is the creator of the Series Gold and Series Silver Ranger powers.

-One Dr. inspired by the Machine Empire created the Venjix Virus. Either his brain or his entire body is contained within the body of the Venjix column.

-Dillon is an ex-Alphabet Soup operative who lost his memory (And possibly Tenaya as well).

Question- Are they not allowed to use the female costumes from the sentai shows anymore?

Saw the episode. The "infiltration" unit and yellow got on my nerves again. Really what the hell is with yellow being the only person able to fight her in anyway?

After that, best part of Yellow's back story is the butler. I sorta sucks how he died.

With their weapons why the hell do they have to call out the name each time they use a weapon? I know with the whole advertising in the show thing, but why the hell did yellow have to say NITRO SABER (or whatever), when it was already in that form, and was previously used? .....I mean really.

Also has it been a previous trend to rangers as "ranger yellow" or "ranger red" instead of "yellow ranger" or "red ranger"?

Strange I want Dr. K to be the yellow ranger more than the actually yellow ranger.

I was expecting to see a super lazer not almost instant death.

I'd complain about them not switching to their ranger outfits in all of those grunt fights also, but I found it hilarious with the witty banter, and green getting his bread kicked.

tl;dr The parts without yellow were good, I wish her butler was still alive. I want Dr. K to be the yellow ranger.

I think I might get into this if they don't go into heavy yellow or red story arcs.

P.s. That infiltrator unit fails at her job. He should get a new one.

If you're asking why they didn't use Kegaleshia's costume for Tenaya 7 I think it was because they wanted to make her a serious character who has insight into Dillon's past. That would be a bit more silly if she were covered in pipes and had valves hanging off her head, so they swapped it out for a skintight jumpsuit and a mask (so Dillon hasn't seen her face yet I assume).

The two parter is called "Ranger Yellow", what other indication do you need that her importance will be doubled for these two episodes. Besides, Dillon usually fights Tenaya so I'm glad they switched it up for a while.

Yes, he reminded me of the only decent character in Operation Overdive... whatshisname... the butler... Spencer...

Its boring if they morph everytime they see a grunt. They don't train their actors in martial arts so they can piss about talking for 32 episodes. Make them work for their money!

Its a matter of some debate why Venjix hasn't scrapped Tenaya yet when ha seems blast-happy with his generals. I think its because Tenaya is at least partially human and if he blasts her, he'll get blood all over his command center.

Tenaya's suit works pretty well for her purpose which is more for fighting and gymnastics as opposed to Kegaleshia's suit only needing to show off her cleavage as she gets drunk... Man Go-Onger is one strange kids show

And I think the final fight for the episode was pretty good despite the Cam-Bot's small involvement. It will probably be remembered as the first and last time a Ranger fights in a kilt, but I really don't think the C-Bots' powers were too heavily hinted at to require some huge drawn out fights scene. Venjix just said that the Black Diamond would give him a death laser that in the end he never got to use... Whats the big deal?

So what happened in the last episodes?

New Megazord, Dr. K. kicking @$$ with her violin again, the Series Gold and Silver operators were introduced as gag characters in Doc K's flashback (although they're likely to be more serious when they appear in the present) and its explained why K made the Ranger powers, but not why she's so damn smart. Also, she invented Venjix.

Dillon had to kill Kelson Henderson... I mean a monster voiced by Kelson Henderson... Which had his memories and activated a bug inside him that will cause the Venjix hardware inside him to take over the organic part of his body.

You know they upload these things on youtube like the next day at the latest? Its not hard to watch it online...

"Claw Hatchet"? They could have come up with a more appropriate for the Rocket Dagger/Boosters if they had used a random word generator (and I'm not convinced they didn't). At least "Worcestershire Tubule" would have been decent for pure randomness. Claw Hatchet sounds like a leftover weapon name from Jungle Fury, like what they would have called Super Saiblade if they had bothered to call it anything at all. What about a dagger shaped like a space shuttle harkens to a claw or hatchet of any kind?

Well except for that, the not-a-two-parter-but-could easily-have-been "Embodied Ghosts" was very good. Gem and Gemma are a little hyperactive still, but as long as they continue to kick but they can continue to spaz out as much as they want. Hopefully they explain why they were hanging out in the wastes all this time.

The spoilers say that in a future episode they will infiltrate a Venjix compound and reprogram a "Doom-Bot" to a Zord which they will combine their own Zords with. That means... Jum-BoWhale was created by Venjix? Unintentional hilarity!

Wow Kilobyte is awesome. A chauvinistic killing machine wearing cleaning supply-covered armor with a sniper rifle and sounds like Allen Rickman? RPM is giving me things I never even knew I wanted out of PR before and now I don't know how I ever lived without!

Still, God knows why the writers decided to make an episode about the female Rangers only to ignore the footage from the Go-Onger episodes that focused on the female Rangers. I wasn't expecting G3 Princess or anything, just for the females to actually save the day... Only for it to end with a Red Ranger saving the day along with the newest product placement item (Road Attack Zord, in stores now!)...

"And... Action!" was a cute little episode, but I'd almost prefer filler to a behind-the-scenes that doesn't know if it wants to be canon or not.

The Mach and PaleoMax Megazords have been spotted in stores so keep on the lookout if you intend to get the Ultrazord this year. Happy hunting
