A woman with short brown hair came running into the bed room of her daughter.

"Kaelly what happened, you look like a Kakuna!"

Next to a bed was a mass of burrito-rolled blankets. A girl's head popped out from one end.

"I fell.."

The woman sighed.

"Yes, I can see that.."

She said, unraveling her daughter.

The girl, Kaelly, got up from the floor and put her clothes on.

Later that morning Kaelly, with her Chikorita at her side, left for GoldenRod City.

You leave your home and see Sprout Tower off to the north. Occasionally, when the soft breeze dies down, you can hear the shifting of the central beam inside, which somehow allows the structure to withstand even earthquakes (don't ask me how this works). Since it's pretty early, it's still quiet outside. You make your way to the woods in the west, taking little notice of the buildings you pass.

You make your way into the light forest path. It's still early enough for the Ledyba to still be buzzing around. One clings to a nearby tree, which appears to twitch as the bug lands.

Kaelly noticed the Ledyba. "Hey that's a cute Pokemon." She said. Her Chikorita, Olive, jumped off Kaelly's shoulder which she was sitting on and runs to the tree with the Ledyba. "Olive, don't hurt the little Ledyba." Kaelly said. The Chikorita made a soft squeeking noise that almost sounded like a bark.

(Do I have a PokeDex already or do I have to somehow get one?)

(Yep, you already have one.)

As Olive ran towards the Ledyba, the "five star" Pokémon buzzed over to another tree. Olive seemed to be a bit confused by Ledyba's leaving. Chik!

The tree seems to twitch again.

(Okay.)

Olive ran to the other tree and did the same. "Hmm." Kaelly said, getting out her PokeDex.

'Ledyba, the Five Star pokemon.

Ledyba secretes an aromatic fluid from where it's legs join it's body. This fluid is used for communicating with others. This Pokemon conveys it's feelings to others by altering the fluid's scent.'

"Cool, I want to catch it!" Kaelly said. "Olive, come here." The Chikorita ran to Kaelly and looked at her. "Use Growl to try and talk to Ledyba." She said. Chikorita ran over to Ledyba and used her Growl.

The Pokédex also reveals some very useful information about the Ledyba.

Ledyba: Lv3 (F) Timid

Olive lets out a (sort of) low growl at the Ledyba, who seems more intimidated than anything else. It moves a bit farther away. Maybe Olive's sending the wrong message?

"Hmm that didn't work." Kaelly said. "Chikorita, try using Razor Leaf!" Sharp U shaped leaves came from Chikorita and attempted to injure Ledyba.

(I already apologize for being so slow with this. I haven't had much free time lately, considering I've had a rough work schedule past couple days. I'll try to keep things at a slightly faster pace than I've been going.)

With a flick of the leaf on its head, Olive launched its Razor Leaf attack! The leaves blazed at Ledyba at a decent speed, and connect! It didn't do that much (1/4x effective), but it appears to have gotten the Ledyba's attention, who hovers towards Olive and hits with a Tackle attack!

"Hmm.. Olive, use a couter Tackle attack!" Kaelly commands her Chikorita.

Olive flips into action, but the slightly faster Ledyba hits first! Not hurt much, Olive charges into the Ledyba, knocking it on its back!

"Great Olive!" Kaelly says. "Use Leech Seed, now!"

Ledyba rears itself back to tackle, getting itself off the ground, but Olive launches a seed from the leaf on its head! The seed connects to Ledyba, making it slightly disoriented. Tackle misses! Ledyba seeded!

"Olive Razor Leaf again!" Olive sprang the U shaped leaves in the direction of Ladyba once again.

Ledyba charges at Olive again! It's a bit slowed by the leaves (which still weren't that effective), but it's still hurt a bit. Tackle hits!

(pre) Ledyba: 60%, -1 Attack, Seeded.

"Olive tackle again!" Kaelly called to her Chikorita. It looked like Ledyba was almost ready to be captured.

Olive and Ledyba charge at each other. Ledyba grazes Olive with its own tackle, but Olive hits it from behind, striking its wing! Critical!

"Looks like it's ready to be captured.." Kaelly says to herself, taking out a PokeBall. "PokeBall, go!" She says throwing it.

You toss the ball at the Ledyba, which Olive quickly jumps away to avoid. The ball takes the Ledyba in easily; and it begins to wobble...

And wobble...

And wobble...

The ball stops moving with a sharp DING! Looks like you've caught the Ledyba! (Lv 3 (F) Timid)

You now hear a shuffle behind you. Olive turns its head at it, and can't quite seem to get what happened. It looks confused.

"Alright, I caught it! I'm gonna call you.. Jaffa!" Kaelly said. She was happy to have caught her first Pokemon so soon. Olive heard a noise and because confused. "Hm? What is it Olive?" Kaelly asked her Chikorita friend. She turned to Kaelly and barked a small squeaky bark. Kaelly turned around.

Chic! Chic! Olive barks.

You turn around, expecting to find something, I don't know, different. Yet alas, it's just the tree you saw before.

...Did it just twitch again?

"Hmm.." Kaelly wondered, walking over to the tree. Poke Poke Kaelly was poking it. Olive just gave her a look as if she was Koo-Koo, Koo-Koo. Kaelly continued staring and poking it like she was hypnotised.

You poke the tree, finding that it seems oddly hard for a tree. It twitches again. You poke it again. Again, it twitches. You poke a third time, only this time it doesn't "twitch," per se.

A branch seems to come out of nowhere, knocking you back. Luckily, your ATS protects you from the damage, but it still seems odd that a tree just punched you. Olive only looks more confused.

"Erm.. Olive.. Use, uh.. Razor Leaf.. On.. the Branch.. Go..!" Kaelly said. It was slightly confusing for a tree to knock you down on it's own.

Olive uses its Razor Leaf on the tree.

...Probably wasn't a good idea.

The leaf connects with the branch, which reveals that this tree isn't a branch. In fact, it's a Sudowoodo.

It moves from its position, then Low Kicks Olive... in short, it hurts.

"Woah, what's that!" Kaelly says, surprised. She takes out her PokeDex to take a look.

Your Pokedex reveals some relatively useful (though hardly reassuring) information about the Sudowoodo.

You hardly have time to get some more info before you hear a shout of "Sleep Powder, now!" from behind you.

The blue powder floats over you, landing on the Sudowoodo, who promptly falls asleep. You hear some more shouts from over there: "You there! You alright!?"

Kaelly turned around to see who it was.

(Sorry not much I could post..)

You turn around to see a somewhat heavy man (who appears to be a hiker, oddly) who has an Ivysaur at his side (which is more odd than a hiker in this area). "I said, you alright?" he shouts. "That Sudowoodo looks mighty tough for your little Chikorita!"

"Yea, I'm okay." Kaelly said. "My PokeDex thinks so too."

"It thinks you're okay?" he asks, sarcastically. "Though I wouldn't suggest going that way. That Sudowoodo's weak for the ones around these parts. You planning on going somewhere?"

Well, you were considering Goldenrod...

"I was headed for Goldenrod City, but now I just hope I can find a town." Kaelly explained to the man.

"Yeah, you might want to detour around to Azalea," he continues. "Some of those Sudowoodo are rough, and I wouldn't go in there unless I had at least a couple badges. There's a gym in both Violet and Azalea. Though that Chikorita might not be what you need for those gyms..."

"If a Chikorita's not what I need.." Kaelly said, throwing her Pokeballs. "How about a Ledyba, or a GeoDude?"

"Ledyba probably isn't best suited for Violet Gym," the hiker explains. "Falkner likes to use bird Pokémon, which eat bugs for breakfast. A Geodude would prove useful though; do you have one?"

(Ledyba and Geodude already came out. ^_^)

"Flint, time to come outta your PokeBall!" Kaelly yelled, tossing her GeoDude's ball.

"Ahaha!" the hiker laughs. "That should do you just fine. Hey, care to try out a battle? I won't use my Ivysaur, if you're afraid of that."

"Sure, we could use the practice!" Kaelly said happily. "You choose first." She said.
