Note: I am still experimenting but I feel the bots reacted what I want. Please don't post this in YPP official forum otherwise the programmer may change it.
Ok, when you put your movement tokens at the last minutes you found the bots reacted to your move, so what are you dealing with that?
E.g.
| CODE |
..... .>... ...^. .....
|
The top left ship is you, the bottom right ship is bots.
In this situation, if the bots reacted to your movement, no matter you turn left, right, or go forward you will be grappled. If you don't move you will be shot.
This is how I move (at the moment I drag movement tokens instead of click, but if you click I don't know if you can do it):
1st move: drag forward token, immediately drag left token
2nd move: right, shoot
3rd move: shoot
4th move: shoot
Bots reacted as:
1st move: forward grapple
Bots reacted on my 1st drag (forward) instead of my 2nd drag (left). I avoided grapple and shot it on 2nd move.
I generally agree with your hypothosis. I usualy try and bait with a false move or two early in the combat round, and supply my desired move at the last second. This is extremly hard to do when you're trying to pull double duty, and try and gun and B-nav simultaniously.

Actually all the bait move and real move are all in LSM so I think it's different from what you were talking about. However when doing this bearing in mind:
1. Bots may not respond to the LSM at all so you need to make sure you won't be in trouble if bots don't respond
2. sometimes bots responded to my bait move, sometimes responded to my real move, I would suggest there is a brief lapse between the bait move and real move. Bots will only respond once in LSM
3. There is one other LSM tactic you can use. If you see bots responded to LSM before the timer gone, you may put extra moves. However if you do this you need to put very fast and your connection is supposed to be very good so it's not easy to do.
