So as I have stated a few times in the Good day thread, I got some stuff featured at the community college gallery I go to. Plus I should show you guys what I'm learning in art anyway.

I absolutely love my drawing professor, and honestly there really are so many great and inspiring professors here. It just goes to show, that you don't have to spend 30k a year at a university to get a good education and learn so, so much.

Without further ado, here's the stuff that got into the gallery. My apologies to the crappy light quality.

(Posted Image)
^Two Gourds and Two Seashells. Ink Work, India Ink with a crow quill pen nib.

^Guitar with a piece of wood and a flower. More Ink Work. India Ink, with a surprisingly, a broken-off reed, the kind you find in a swamp or bay. They create a beautiful effect like no other, perfect for making a wood grain effect. Also was drawn on brown package paper. It gives colors and ink a nice effect.

^Vase with wheat and flowers. Ink, but only used a Sumi Stick. They're kinda hard to find, but normally they are used in Oriental Calligraphy, and are ground up into an ink. We actually used just the stick to draw with. Dip the stick in water, and it creates this beautiful look.

Urn with jar and leaves. Combination of the Sumi Stick and 'Reed' Pen.

All these pieces on average took me 2-3 classes, or 2-5 hours to do. Also, these pieces aren't in any particular order.

I'm working on some stuff right now too, so expect updates in the next few weeks.

Congrats on getting some of your art featured at the college gallery! Your still lifes are amazing! I think the vase with wheat and flowers is my favorite (though I love them all). I thought it was an ink painting when I first looked at it, I'd never heard of using a suni stick by itself dipped into water (just heard of it being ground up), it really does create a beautiful look. :)

Thank you for the 'grats and that you like the works. I like the sumi stick one a lot too. I'd have to say it's a tie between this one and the guitar.
Yea, my art professor is pretty ingenious like that. I think he has spent many of days just picking out the most random stuff to actually use as a drawing tool, and sees what becomes of it.........

Quoting the words of my professor:

"When I go to draw, I don't see myself as an artist. I see myself as a mad scientist. I'm always experimenting, trying out new mediums, tools, and techniques."

The vase is my favorite one. The marks are just so energetic and lively; it's really appealing to look at despite the ordinary subject. That's what good drawings do...they make you look at objects like you've never quite seen them before.

NNERRRGGHHH.

Yea this thing has been updated almost never.

For now, I'll post some of my digital pieces from Electronic Illustration, then I'll post the rest of my fine arts portfolio after I graduate.

All of these are done in Illustrator CS 5.1

First project: Tracing a photo. Pic of Guarana, a popular soda in Brazil. Best way I can describe the awesomeness is it tastes like fruity Gingerale.

ALL HAIL HYPNO-OWL! Had to make a tattoo design for class:

My most recent project: Make a sculpture for the college. We held a fake committee, voted on our favorites and they 'win' the commission. I was runner up 8D. Mine was a mosaic.

We did a gallery space project, which I put in some of my pieces, but Illustrator is a butt and won't let me convert those files to jpegs.

We're moving on to Photoshop next week, so any more updates will include projects from that program!
