Diya's Stomping Ground, Shield your eyes!

This was originally going to be calles Diya's Domain, but then I found stomping ground in the thesaurus so I decided that was better :D

I figure I should start this off with the picture I spent the ost time I've ever done for a picture, that I finished earlier this night. It's for my art class, it's due tomorrow. (It was too large to scan, it's 432 inches squared, so I took a picture.) It took roughly 65 hours to complete (that's an underestimant actually), and about 14 of those hours I did it while holding my sharpies with my ring finger, pinky, & thumb with my right hand, or did it with my left hand (I'm right handed). I used stencils for some of the boxes, but the majority I did by myself. I'm pretty happy how this turned out, and that I can still see my face in it (which is what it's supposed to be like). I have every intention to try to do this style again once I can use my index & middlefinger on my right hand.

And sorry Blue I'm not doing anything more on it (I have to turn it in in about an hour, plus bothe my sharpies died.) There's a longhorn head kind on by the bunny if that makes you feel any better. (It's small & in a checkered area). You can play I Spy to find it.

On some of the patterns:
-The bird that's in the upper right area in the checkered part near the elephant & camel is not a duck. My parent's thought it was even though it doesn't have a duck beak. I can draw duck beaks, there's one on the platypus.
- That L Lawliet 'L' wasn't a tribute to L Lawliet (that's not saying I didn't enjoy Deathnote), I just wanted to use old english text because I like it. And starting at that L & going up in a zigzagged path are my initials.

I'm going to hopefully color this one in photoshop if it decides to behave for once, if not I'll try gimp (this is during my art class at school because the school computers have those while I'm not allowed to download stuff says my dad & I have no moneys).

I messed up on the nose & feet so now it looks weirder(er). I decided to add all the stuff on her shirt, arms, and jeans, plus the leaves after I'd thought I was done inking, oh well.
I'm coloring it with colored pencils tomorrow also if I have time. I may not be able to since the coaches decided to change study hall back to actual athletics. meh.

*the hair, shirt, and bracelets are based of how one of my friends looked last week. I have a drawing of the full outfit somewhere, she looked pretty cute so I drew her. :)*

I thought it was kind of large so I only put it as a link, but wtf is up with it being called "inappropriate content"!? It has a FULLY CLOTHED person sitting under a tree. Why do school computers have to think everything inappropiate when it's not. ....Maybe they hate tinypics.com (my school computers do), but that's the only thing I can think of.

Also: I haven't been able to color it in photoshop yet b/c all the computers I tried were broken & I couldn't use the ones in the library thanks to TAKS testing, but I am about halfway done with coloring it with colored pencils.

I finished coloring this Thursday. I got lazy with the background, and then it barely shows thanks to the scanner I still haven't adjusted the settings on. Oh well.

I think the grass turned out the best. It took forever to do because I used 5 different green colored pencils, I think it's the most realistic grass I've ever done too...

I'm going to put up all the pictures I've done in my art class this past semester. Except I don't feel like scanning all the negatives frm my foamboard camera, I'll take a picture of the camera since I decorated it though.

Here's a watercolor paints piece I did for my art class. We had to draw & paint the buffalo skulls Mr. M had & add flowers like Georgia O'Keeffe.

Obviously I'm nowhere near having O'Keeffe's talent, plus this was the first time I've used any watercolors for an entire piece besides elementary school, and my practice paper. I used one thin cone tipped brush, one medium cone tipped brush, paper towels (for mistakes), water, and 4 different paint colors (before blending them together). I did wet on wet & wet on dry.

There's a story behind this. We were using posemanics.com in art class for our ten second & our 1 minute gesture drawings. This was one of the poses, but the way I'd drawn the right foot made it look like an elf shoe so I added a bell. Then my friend at my table & I started talking about the elf shoe, then about the movie Elf, then about Will Ferrel, then about how my dude with an elf shoe wasn't Will Ferrel, and then more about elves. So I drew the pose again on another paper this time making it a complete elf for my friend & my enjoyment. I actually think that's the best curly hair I've done that wasn't just never ending loops sadly. Btw this isn't supposed to be Will Ferrel. And we've yet to name him. Hopefully I'll be able to color him tomorrow or this weekend.

Here's one for my art class concentration projects. My theme is 'cages'. We're currently only allowed to use charcoal, sharpies, and sketching pencil only. (Mr. M -lol 3 yrs in a row w/ a 'Mr. M' for an art teacher- says no colored pics until we do watercolors in class).

(The table top is the result of me trying to hide accidental charcoal smudges. And I did the base of the cage before sketching the rest of the cage & it wouldn't erase, plus I can't find any white chalk; hence the wonky shape compared to the rest of the cage).

I think I like this one more than the first one. I'm not scanning this one until I get it sealed (I don't want charcoal all over my scanner).
My hands still got covered in charcoal even though I only used tissues & blending stumps for blending & not my fingers.

'Where The Waldo Things Are'

We were supposed to draw the poem 'I Wondered Lonely as a Cloud' by William Wodsworth. We've been doing a lot of shading practices on spheres & prism so I decided I'd use hatching & crosshatching (the stuff on the bottom the pic isn't though bc I got lazy). Even though it's still sketchy (b/c it's a sketchbook asignment) I still like it. And I was told that it looks like 'Where the Wild Things Are' (unintentional), & Mr. M said the guy looked like Waldo (striped shirt) so we named it 'Where the Waldo Things Are'. I worked on it a couple days (the sky took a long time to do).

It also reminds one of my friends of 'The Phantom Tollbooth' (her description while trying to rememberr what it was called was horrible; it went from not remembering 'toll' me guessing 'phonebooth', to me guessing Doctor Who, to remembering it was 'toll', to me finally getting it right though I've never read it all while she read the poem sounding like a dying Stitch & then like Yoda...)

Oh, this is that DAFFODIL picture I'd mentioned, (I decided against monster daffodils though). And I've always drawn daffodils like that.

My art class had to do gridded self-portraits from pictures at extreme angles (either taken from above you or worms eye view) and then have part of you going into color with a full color background. This is mine. I'm hapyy with how it turned out & my art teacher is entering mine, two of my friends & some others in a student art competition. (My friends' ones are waaay better than mine).
The words got cut off when I took the picture though. One side says "I'm not particularly fond of mice or snakes" & the other side says "(snakes more than mice)"

It took over a week (working atleast an hour a day & over 8 hours the weekend before it was due), I managed to hurt my wrist coloring the background the sunday night before it was due monday & the I hurt it more on monday coloring the purple parts.
I used crayola supertips, prismacolor colored pencils, a blue prismacolor color stick (looks like a pastel stick but's closer to a nonwood encased color pencil), an ebony pencil, a 2h pencil, erasers (kneaded & rubber), grey pen/ markers, and my school rough paper towels for blending.
