This is in response to a debate on a train. That's right, folks. El Ranto is back!!

Alright, let's take a deeeeeep breath.

It aggravates me to hear people say that I am “soft on terrorism”. When I heard this claim on the train, I considered the real reason for a destabilized Middle East. All the fingers on question pointed at one answer: Israel, the 51st state. From its past to it’s defiance of fate, Israel is the main reason for the conflicts in the Middle East.

Israel is a Frankenstein of parts, crafted in 1949 under pressure from the West. Their reason for doing so was to protect the strategically vital Suez Canal, the main port for Arab oil. The Muslim communities were furious, and probably rightfully so; consider the consequences if the then USSR carved Florida off of the United States and made it into an Arab nation. However, their voices were conveniently forgotten. As such, the tiny nation of Israel was crafted out of the Middle East.

Despite the pressures from the unheard Arab majority, Israel stood firm. It even joined Britain and France in Suez in 1955. However, it was nothing more than a puppet for the United States, much like West Germany at its time. As we saw in the Yom Kippur war of 1966, the 7 Day War in 1969 and the Egypt/Israeli Cease Fire of 1974, Israel is a largely destabilizing force. In fact, most of the wars in the recent history of the Middle East were either a result of colonialism or the frequent invasion of Israel into Arab territory. The US liked its friend Israel, such that it even offered aid and weapons to Israel at bargain bin prices. This, as it turns out is not a good way to gain friends in the Arab world.

Further republican screw-ups ensured that Israel would be granted nuclear weapons, and that to “prevent the spread of Communism” dangerous religious fanatics (who no doubt do not approve of Israel) were funded to the tune of 3 billion dollars.

What happens when you hold up a broom and poke at a beehive? The bees come out to attack you. This is the same thing that happened in this circumstance: The US is holding the broom (Israel) and poking the Arab world. It’s not the bees fault for protecting their home: it’s the US’s fault for propping up a nation that is a great thorn in the Arab side. They are simply defending themselves from being “settled” by a Jewish nation.

I know it’s short, but I’m stuck right now. I’ll fix it later.
