Morgan lifted on the door, turned the handle and pushed it open. 'Damn super, I've told him about the door at least 6 times' he thought to himself. He closed it, turned both locks and, after a moments hesitation, slid the chain in place. He had been watching his back ever since arriving in Europe, and especially since getting THIS flat in THIS neighborhood. He had heard the muggles around here were worse than the deatheaters, and decided not to take any chances. He wanted so badly to use magic, but thought it best to remain unseen for the time being. After locking the door and turning on the light he took his jacket off and set it on the chair, but turned immediately and grabbed his wand out of the left, inside pocket. 'You may be abstaining from using magic... but, just in case.' He sat on the edge of his twin mattress and covered his face with his hands. "What am I doing here?" He said aloud to himself, "Don't start that again, you'll learn to love it" He replied very unreassuringly. He kicked off his shoes, lied down on the bed, and folded his arms behind his head. After a moment he turned onto his side and saw the telephone sitting on the stool next to the bed. He starred at it for over a minute, with a terrified, entranced expression. He knew what picking up the reciever, and dialing that number would mean, but he couldn't help wondering. He extended his arm, but retracted it halway to the phone. 'Just make up your mind,' he thought for a moment, then extended his arm again, and, after reaching the receiver retracted it again. He let out a long sigh and sat back up. 'You can't be with her, you know you can't. She would never understand, and probably would think you were crazy, and more likely still, would think that she was crazy.' He let out another sigh, turned on his night light, walked back to the door and shut the main light off. After returning to his bedside, he took the rest of his suit off, laid it on the chair, and climbed into bed. Before shutting the light off, he looked at the phone again. "You know how muggles are, she just wouldn't believe you." He turned the light out, rolled over, and closed his eyes. "Maybe I'll call her tomorrow."

He awoke early the next morning and tried to ignore the telephone while he put on a pot of coffee and headed for the shower. As the water pourd over his body he thought about susan, about home, about life before England. He didn't know anybody on this contenenant and felt more alone than ever. He thought of the recent murders that had been taking place back in America, that group that had been killing very innocent witches and wizards. After they had taken his parents he fled the country in order to save Susan. He knew that he would have broke down at some point and told her that he was a wizard, so he had no choice but to leave her behined. If those evil people somehow thought that she was a witch as well, he would never forgive himself. He finished scrubbing down his body and turned the water off. As he was getting his towel he remembered his coffee so he threw it on and ran for the kitchen. Even after sitting on the burner for near half an hour, the coffee was barely luke-warm, so he decided he would hit the cafe down the street. He threw on the suit he had worn yesterday, found that his wand was not in the left inside pocket and remembered that it was still next to his bed. After retreiving it he shut the light off and locked the door behined him as he stepped out into the hall, "They better have something other than tea," he said as he stepped out onto the street.

Gabrielle knocked on the door for the second time. Okay, that's it. If he doesn't answer a second time, I'm trying the next flat. she thought, tapping her foot. Hoping for an answer, she took a stray lock of her blonde hair and twirled it around her pony tail. She had done her best to look very muggle: casual t-shirt, jeans, but she had her wand in her hair like a chopstick. No muggle will get it, and no wizard or witch will care. She thought as she put it in that morning.

Morgan immediately stopped what he was doing when he heard the knock on his door. 'That wouldn't be the super, he is never up this early.' It happened to be two in the afternoon. As he shut the stove off, a second knock resounded down the hall. He turned to Jynx and asked, "Do you think it is safe?" The cat just looked up at his friend and replied with a low "Meow." He set his pot of not quite boiling water down on the counter, he figured it was safe because the stove really never was able to get the water above 175 degrees. He walked down the hall, avoided the section of buckled floor, and pressed his ear against the door. Hearing nothing he timmidly gave out a, "Who is it?"

Is he serious? Do I look like I could cause harm? However, Gabrielle knew that had nothing to do with what harm she could possibly inflict, but she didn't count on others knowing that. She gave a shrug and spoke through the door, "I live upstairs. My name's Gabrielle. I was looking to borrow some things for a recipe?" she ended the last peice like a question, not quite sure if she wanted to borrow something from him after all.

Morgan let his guard down slightly when he heard it was a woman at his door. "Ah, well then, if you have come to my flat, then you are making bolied water as well, I presume?" he said this as he undid the locks and turned the handle. As he opened the door he replied, "I suppose that I could see if I could help..." He was momentarily stunned at the sight of the pretty woman on his step and, as per usuall, was unable to regain his composure in time to save face. While he starred blankly, unable to recall the sentence he had once been muttering, Jynx ran out the door and down the hall, very casually observing the woman before turning the corner.

"Boiled water?" she asked, laughing. "A tad more complicated than that." As she listened to the locks unclick she suppressed a laugh. He must be new to the city. While Gabrielle did use a few locks, she knew well enough not to unlock all of them without some kind of identification slipped underneath the door. But if he was like that, I wouldn't get my ingredients. she reminded herself.

Elle watched the man's face for a moment before noticing the cat that ran off. "Should you..?" as she looked at his face she knew it was no good. She tried to get the cat back herself, looking in the direction it left and calling, "Uh... Whiskers? Mr. White? Jiggle Boots?" She felt akward as she continued to look, hoping for the cat to come back around the corner.

"Er...."he started, but then paused as she started calling after the cat. 'Jiggle Boots???' "Oh no, he's fine," he called after her. "He is very much able to take care of himself. Oh, and his name is Jynx." He replied, no one was really ever able to understand his closeness to Jynx, and he figured this was no acception. "Anyways, more complicated than water? You must have a better stove than I do to cook anything with flavor. " As he spoke he hoped he wasn't sounding as simple as he did in his own head. "Er... would you like to come in and have a seat?"

Gabrielle turned as Morgan explained Jynx to her. So he has a voice, she thought with a tiny smirk. Now now, you can be a bit intimidating. And at least he's not some kind of chatty Kathy. Elle smiled and thought to herself, Stove? When was the last time I used a muggle stove? She usually set her cauldren on fire in her hide away fire pit in her flat. She probably was breaking a few magical laws by having the set up, but she detested cooking with muggle machines. Except the microwave. She would have starved without a microwave.

"I manage with what I have." She said, smiling. Gabrielle always used little white lies and half-truths in dealing with new people. Elle's smile grew as she was invited in. "That would be very nice, thank you." She said, stepping over the threshold and waiting just inside. She didn't like to roam people's houses like some people do. She found it rude and quite awkward.

This woman had an odd sort of smirk, it made him think that she was aware of some sort of inside joke, and yet it was still somewhat inviting. He never could make his mind up about people based on first impressions no matter how truth-telling they were, and the run in with that girl at the leaky cauldron had unsettled him quite a bit. After she had agreed and stepped inside he closed the door and resisted locking it. When he turned around Morgan realised that she hadn't headed down the hall, "Er... ladies first?"He had meant to sound confident, and yet the statement came out like a question. 'Great Morgan, just great. First impressions can never be taken back, and unfortunatly this time you make yourself look like a cautious little puppy...' He meant to sigh inside his head, but somehow managed to let it escape his lips.

Gabrielle laughed out loud at Morgan's sigh. She gave him a genuin smile and feined a sigh herself. "I suppose." she said, obviously faking a heavy, depressed mood. She smiled and decided conversation was best. You've laughed at him a few times now, probably not the best impression. Although Gabrielle never cared that much, her aunt had always lectured her on the importance of a first impression.

"So, Jynx right? How long have you had... him? Her? Sorry, I don't check. They really don't get enough privacy as is, and I'd rather not go through with the actual checking." Well, the only way that could have been worse conversation would be over dinner. she thought, but she never really thought these things as a really bad problem. She didn't think it was a big deal, more of just facts.

He felt very stupid for letting the sigh slide, but was amused at her response. He listened to her talk as he followed he down the hall, and figured she was almost as used to conversation as he was. "Well, I have had him for just under four years now, I got him while I was living in America. The couple that gave him to me said that he would be bad luck, but he has always been good luck for me." Morgan emphasized the word "him" ever so slightly, giving her a clue without sounding arrogant or snobbish, at least he hoped.

As they entered the living/dining room he let out a chuckle when he remembered something, "Sus... er, my ex girlfriend always thought that he was bad luck. When she would come over to my house and they were in the same room, she always managed to spill or drop something. She was a very superstisious person though, and he has always been there for me." 'Yes, let's move from being a puppy dog, to some sort of cat freak, bravo Morgan, bravo.'

He had pulled one of the two chairs out at his small table, and gestured for her to sit when he looked at her hair. At first he was unsure of what his eyes were telling him, but he decided not to spoil the atmosphere by being assumptuous. "Now then, what sort of ingrediants were you after? I have always had a nack for brewing things up, so we'll see if I can be helpful." He wasn't sure how comfortable this situation was, but at least it was contact with another person, he doubted they would still be talking had she come just to destroy him, however the stick in her hair was odd...

America! I knew I heard an accent! She thought, excited to meet someone from across the pond. Gabrielle smiled, listening intently. She almost laughed at the meantion of luck, but held it back, a smile still in her eyes. She didn't believe in luck, at least not the past few years. If she had, Elle probably would have went out of her mind. **it happens, she thought when thinking of her own life. Gabrielle tried to hide curiousity when wondering exactly why Morgan didn't finish his ex's name.

She smiled warmly as he spoke of Jynx always being there for him. She really wasn't an animal person, but it touched her how close they were. From the sounds of it, the only relationship Elle had in her life that was that strong was between her and her aunt.

As Gabrielle sat in the chair, she was still very cautious, making sure to not take her eyes off of him. She watched him notice her hair, and figured it was a now or never moment. She reached down to untie and retie her shoelace (which was fine to begin with) purposely not looking at him, and said somewhat quiet and muffled, "Uh, Muggle?" I can't rightly get my ingrediants unless he's a wizard, now can I? she thought, justifying her rash desicion.
