Veryan Morvan

Veryan looked around. This was a beautiful place, she was sorry that she couldn't stay here long. She dismounted and patted her white horse on the neck. She wandered around, searching for signs of life, other than animals.

Veryan sat down and leaned against a tree, the horse stood beside her. She sighed and closed her eyes. This journey had tired her more than she had expected. Veryan hoped she would find here the tracks she was looking for. The tracks that would lead her to a killer, the murderer of her father and eldest brother.

Tell me why you took all that was mine!

When darkness will reign and blind us all, allegiance will bind us if we do not fall

In the sheltering shade of the forest
calling, calming silence
accompanied only by the full moon
the howling of the night Wolf
and the path under my bare feet...
...the Elvenpath

You can't get away with your crimes
And you never will
For you'll have to pay the price
And the time is near
No more innocence left to kill.

OOC: This will be a few days after the incident at Minas Tirith, So Gandalf has fully recovered, talked to Aragorn etc. And is once again travelling somewhere.

IC:

Gandalf slowed shadowfax down as he came to a sheltered area. He sensed someone near and clutched his staff. His mind was full of worry and dread, this attack on Aragorn and the recent raids of villages had to mean something, and Iarwath had a big part in it. He was sure of it.
He was gathering information where he could, which is why he was coming this way. He hadnt eaten for a long time though, plus shadowfax needed a rest, so he decided to stop for a while. He climbed of his horse, not bothering to tie it up, he knew it would stay put. He started to collect some wood for a fire, to cook the last piece of slated pork he had. He spotted the horse first, and unsheathed his sword, He then spotted the Woman, leaning aginast a tree.
He wondered what someone was doing here all alone, especially a woman. He decided to speak up. "Hello my lady", he said, with a small bow, and a friendly grin....

Veryan was so lost in thought that she didn't notice the arrival of the old man immediately. Once she had seen him however, she went on guard, cursing herself for not paying attention to her surroundings. Veryan had travelled enough to know that not eveyone was who he said to be. When the man, for Veryan didn't know it was Gandalf, though she had heard about him, reached for his sword, Veryan wondered if she too had to draw her blade. But when the man spoke to her, she decided against him. For now that he was closer, she could see that he meant her no harm.

Veryan returned the man's greeting with a smile and spoke in a light voice. "Hello too, my lord. May I ask what made you reach for your weapon? I know it is dangerous on the road, but I didn't know it was so dangerous that you need to draw a weapon on everyone you meet." From her tone it was obvious that she was joking and not very seriously. Veryan knew very well that it was dangerous on the road and that the one she wanted to find and kill more than anything else was far more dangerous than being alone on the road. Veryan had been searching centuries for the the warrior named Iarwath who trated in death to know. She knew more about the infamous assassin than anyone alive. Therefor, she was now very alert, for Iarwath had many friends, a lot of them seemingly innocent, like the man before her.

Though, now that she thought on it, she realised that the man most likely wasn't a friend of Iarwath, as his sword was undoubtly made by the Elves and very valuable and Veryan knew that Iarwath wouldn't trust any of those so-called friends, that were more like servants, with a sword like that one. Veryan took a step closer to the old man, stepping in the light of the sun, her face now clearly visible.

Gandalf felt a little silly, but you never can be to careful. "Well an old man like me needs to be careful" he laughed. "What brings you out here? and may i ask your name?".

Gandalf wondered if she was an accomplice (sp?) of Iarwath, but she seemed to fair to be, and she had a friendly air about her. Travelling had become more dangerous again though, there were more criminals on the road, due to the burning of many villages by aurons servants, during the war of the ring. People had began to steal what they could, as their possesions had been destroyed. And it seemed Iarwath was also stirring trouble again.

Veryan considered the old man's question. Could she risk telling him her name? She had decided he wasn't allied with Iarwath, but she could be wrong. Veryan considered her options. At last she decided to tell her name, Iarwath didn't know her anyway so, it was harmless.
"I'm Veryan and I am looking for someone who I lost lang ago." Veryan said, not completely revealing what she was doing here, but also not telling a complete lie. She had lost Iarwath quite some time ago and hadn't managed to find her. Like this she didn't have to tell Iarwath's name and the old man could think of it what he wanted. If he thought she was looking for a friend, that didn't matter. Veryan had long learned not to mention Iarwath's name to strangers.
"As I told you my name and what I'm doing here, I would like to know yours and why you're here." Veryan added to her explanation. Now she would know if she had been right trusting the man enough to reveal her name.
