Evie walked through the halls she had walked so many times before. The metal lockers, colored by year, stood on either side of her. Blue was for freshies, red for sophmores, green for Jrs, and a memorable pukish brown for seniors. She sighed, millions of other New York teens gathered and talked around her. She made it to her own puke-brown locker. Without even thinking, she flicked the lock in the way she had all year. The three number code she had forgotten in the first month. She lifted the latch-stuck! A quick and aimed kick to the metal door sent it flying open.
She threw her books inside and slamed the door shut. Brushing some of her thick black curls out of her face, she turned and started to the cafeteria. Many of the guys stared, it was not normal for a cheerleader like her to roam the halls alone, but Casey was sick, and Jessie and Krys were too busy with setting up the prom. Both of them were on the dance commitee, and she did nothing else but cheerleading. She hoped that someone would ask her to the prom. It was only a month away, and no one had shown any interest in her. She blinked back tears and picked up a tray. Getting in line, she tryed not think about the prom, but instead about what she would get for lunch.

Evie opened her mouth, the usual insult about to come out o her mouth, but suddenly she realized she was alne. She didn't have to impress any one of her 'friends' so instead she though of something nice to say.
Shifting her purse, which happened to be pink, matching the cell phone thast was hidden deep within it, she said, "It's alright, you know... It was really my fault, I wasn't looking, and a cheerleader should always pay attention to what happens around her."
Sighing as she heard herself say this, she realized that it really hadn't come out all that nice, actually, it sounded kind of snobbish, but what could she say, she hadn't actually been nice to anyne since the sixth grade, back when everyone was friends with everyone.

Evie hesitated, she she go after the kid. She realised she didn't even know the girls name, but she looked so familiar. Thinking quickly, Evie knew that she would be most lonely surrounded by a whole bunch of hormonal varsity footballers. It was just an act really, her whole life was an act, nothing in it was true, solid. Another reason she didn't want to go to her normal table was that he ex was over there. How could he have dumped her, and this close to prom? Disgused, she took one look at the table where she had sat for the mojority of the last four years, and disided it was time to do something different.
Quickly, she again caught up with the girl.
"I know that didn't sound very nice back there, but I'm not very practiced as to how to be nice... and I just wanted to.... well, you know.... apologize." She said this quickly, pausing only shortly to think of what to say.
