Rules and Guidelines
Highly recommended reading.
Any violation of these rules can result in being banned or struck.

I know it might seem a bit strict for a site that's this new to have a big set of rules, but we feel that if all Witches & Wizards follow them, then we can all get along perfectly. Administrators and Moderators keep a keen eye on all participating in the RPG. We will award excellent RP behavior, and punish those who break the rules.

General Forum Rules

1. No Spamming
Spamming is entirely unacceptable. Spamming is defined as posting/repeating the same thing multiple times(including posting the same piece in more than one location of the forums). If you spam, by the descretion of the admin handling the situation, you may be automatically banned(though this is highly unlikely). If you double-post, you must request for it to be removed within 2 days of the posting time or the post will make you elligable for ban/strike. Basically... don't post one right after another in the same thread... even if your second post has entirely new information... as it should have been included in the first post.

2. No Harassment
Do not harass other users OOC (out of character) in any way, and do not do it IC (in character) if it offends them OOC or relates to any OOC matters. You are not to harass, ridicule or make fun of anyone in OOC boards, or through PMs. Your character may have a grudge against their character(in fact it's quite welcome, it makes the RP's more interesting), but you are not to attack them as a person. Depending upon the situation and severity of the case, you may be automatically banned from the site.

3. No PMing Admin with Questions
Unless your question is in need of urgent attention from an Administrator only, do not PM Professors, or other Moderators with questions. There is a help board for you to do that, and chances are you'll get a much faster response from that.

4. Do not claim to be admin
You are not to say that you are an admin, unless you are given the position. For example, if you aren't granted the position of Professor, you cannot say that you are. Nor are you to say that you are related to one of the Professors, unless you have their permission and approval.

5. No Advertising
You may not make posts advertising websites. You may link to them in your profile (not signature), but please do not make posts about it. This includes websites to other playable games. This also means no advertising through Private Messages (PMs).
Advertisement exceptions include:
Links beginning with http://www.z14.invisionfree.com/AcademyX
Deviant Art
Myspace
Live Journal (and other journaling sites)

6. Smilies/Emoticons
Do not use the smilies/emoticons on RP boards unless they are in the OOC section of your post.

7. Signature Images
a. You may have a maximum of no more than two images in your signature, one Squad banner and one image/banner of your choice. The squad banner may be no larger than 450x250 pixels(450 being width, 250 being height). The personal image/banner may be no larger than 550x450 (550 width, 450 height) pixels. To find out how large an image is, right-click on it and select Properties. In the window then displayed, there is a section labelled Dimensions. The image size is then displayed next to it.
b.Flash, stream, real media, sound/music or video objects are not allowed in your signature.

8. Remain as active as possible
This is going to be a fairly active RPG hopefully, and if characters do not remain active it could all go downhill fairly quickly. The post turnaround time for Academy X is 7 days. That is, once your post has been replied to (if involved with other characters in a thread), you have 7 days in which to post for your character, regardless of whos "turn" it is. If you are posting alone, then you need to post again within 7 days from the date of your previous post. People who exhibit chronic inactivity run the risk of having their characters NPC'd by the staff in order to move threads along, or (in extreme cases), have their character removed and made available for application.

Character Rules

1. Post a Character Description BEFORE RPing
Post a character description in the appropriate section to be approved by one of the moderators of the site. If you join the site but do not post a character description within one week, or do not post anything at all for that matter, you will be deleted at the end of the week.

2. Your Character Bio must be in your own words.
All of your bio must be written in your own words. Under no circumstances may parts of your bio be copied and pasted from other websites, or directly copied from books. This includes spotlights from Uncanny X-Men, the Marvel Directory, any fan website you might come across, and books as well. Remember that the staff love Marvel just as well as you do, and we know all the tricks.

3. No using other characters in your Bio.
You may not use someone else's character in your bio without their permission. Exceptions to this rule include siblings, and canonical events only, up to and including M-Day.

4. One Character Per Username
You are limited to one character per username, but this does not mean you may not have multiple usernames. Infants too young to be RPed independently may be RPed on the parent/guardian's account, but as soon as possible they must be transferred to their own account.

5. Register with a FIRST AND LAST name!
Always register with a first and last name. A good example would be something like John Doe. A bad example would be something like wolverine1284. When registering as a canon character, do not use their code name. Use their actual name - Scott Summers rather than Cyclops.

Roleplaying Rules
1. No Meta Gaming, Power Playing, or God Modding
There are many types of power playing. The most common being...
- Controlling other people's characters in posts. (Technically even saying whether a spell hits them and how it hits them is power playing, but for that, depending on the spell, I'll let slide.)
- Omniscient Characters. You may know everything that goes on with the board but your character doesn't! Keep this in mind! This goes right down to knowing other character's names without being introduced. Your character doesn't know everything you know, they only know what they were there to see or have been told.
- Indestructible Characters. Your character cannot go through a duel without getting hit at all, unless of course your character is like sixty and is dueling an eleven year old. You character is not invincible, he or she can get hurt.
- Convenience. When in peril, most likely being hunted by another character, a escape route magically appears out of nowhere and you escape easily. This may be fine for certain situations, but not all the time! If you do something, tough, you have to face the music.
All of these are NOT allowed.

2. R-Rated Topics
You may post content rated R (with content inappropriate for younger ages) if you use the appropriate [R] topic icon. Do not post on a topic that has the R topic icon unless you have received the poster's permission to post. Be warned that topics with the R topic icon may include sexual content and content inappropiate for young ages.

3. Do not enter private boards without permission
If there is a private board(marked with "Private" or a "[p]") you are not to post there unless you were invited by the maker of the board; or unless you wrote to them and got permission to join in on the RP. If you post in a private board you may get a strike.

4. OOC Discussion
Try to keep OOC to a minimum on the RP boards, and remember to clearly mark OOC from IC using a suitable method such as parantheses ( ) or a notation such as OOC: Also, you are not to make a new post with only OOC in it... if you are posting in a RP forum, you had better have RP in the majority of your post, with whatever you would like to say in OOC at the end. If you would like to let the person you are RPing with know that you are leaving for the night, but will reply the next day, use the PM system for that.

5. Post at least two paragraphs.
This is a literate and advanced RP site. Every in-character post needs to be at least 2 sizeable paragraphs long (preferably more). The staff of this board view a sizeable paragraph to be approximately 5-7 well structured sentences. Players that regularly do not meet this requirement, or are regularly borderline, will be contacted by staff.

6. Post in third person, and use proper grammar.
All in-character posts must be written in the third person, and past tense. Write them as if you are telling a story, rather than as if you are in a real time RPG. Use structured paragraphs, and do not use any symbols (such as *, : or otherwise) to denote actions. Please do not use font colors to denote your characters speech, this is what "Double Quotation" marks are for. If you wish, you may bold the text, but only for your own characters speech. Whether you do this or not is entirely up to you. Thought should be demonstrated by the use of 'Single Quotation' marks, and italics. Quoting the speech of other characters should be demonstrated using double quotation marks and italics. These are shown below:

"This is your characters speech." OR "This is your characters speech."
'This is your characters thoughts.'
"This is the speech of another character that you need to quote."

Telepathic speech needs to be marked separately, so that it is easy for other players to identify when your character is thinking to themselves, speaking out loud, or speaking telepathically. Thus, please mark your telepathic speech with special characters on either side, such as the following:

oO"Telepathic Speech"Oo
~ "Telepathic Speech" ~
<"Telepathic Speech">

7. Death and Pregnancy need to be oked.
Death and pregnancy need the required permission in order to be played out. You cannot kill another character, or yours, unless you have that character's player's permission with Admin permission. Pregnancy requires Admin permission as well.

8. So not create your own major plots
No storyline (e.g. major events, world-changing conclusions, radical departures from a character's template) goes on without an Admin approving it. If there's a storyline going on and you decide to go do your own storyline - don't, please. This causes mass confusion with nobody knowing where to go. Mini-storylines are acceptable, but if a story-line affects the whole board, go through one of the Admins first
