Name: Emily Vincent Locke Valentine
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Profession: Adviser to her businessman father, Vincent Arcturus Valentine, also a college student (explained in her history)
Nationality: Irish-Filipino/American

Gate: Gate of Northern Lights

This Gate is mostly a supportive Gate: it can imitate the starlights of the Aurora Borealis- to blind or act as a flashlight. Acts a bit like fireworks, the Gatekeeper can create bright sparks of light. Although not exactly damaging, they can blind and stun an opponent for a set amount of time, depending on the desired effects.

The Gate consumes 15% of Emily's energy with each creation, allowing her only a maximum of six sparks per RP post- though this can change with her Fireworks of Bright and Lights of the North. If she exceeds her limit alloted for her attacks, she'll be completely drained of energy and be unable to move for three days, in which time she rests, recovering her energy.

Physical Attributes: Having long raven-black hair, inherited from her mother and reddish-brown eyes (a trait she got from her father) and standing at the height of 5'5", Emily is blessed with a fair complexion which she inherited from her American father, and has rather short arms and legs, which explains her petite frame. At her age, women are supposed to taller, but she happened to get the slow-growth genes from her Irish-Filipino mother, which explains her lack in height.

Usually, she is wearing formal business clothes, with a dark-colored blazer over her blouse and a medium-length skirt, but on the days when her father is not working, she usually wears casual gear, mostly jogging pants in a variety of dark colors and sweatshirts. Sometimes, when there are parties, she can be seen wearing a little strapless black dress and high heels.

Her left arm has never been the same due to an injury she had sustained while riding a bike in China, and she walks with a slight limp in her left leg, also due to that accident.

Personality: She is soft-spoken and takes a long time to get pissed, but once you get her angry, she can really hold a grudge. Thanks to her businessman father who travels around a lot, she has picked up various attitudes, as well as languages from the many countries they have visited together, and she can pass herself off as a native of the country, since she is accustomed to acting like the locals, being inconspicuous.

She is also blessed with her mother's intelligence and her father's intuition, which is always right in business-related matters.

Strengths:

~the intelligence she had inherited from her mother
~her intuitions in business-related matters, inherited from her father
~very patient and will not get angry unless sufficiently (and extensively) provoked
~can be trusted with any secret told to her
~can speak many languages: Gaelic, English, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese and is now learning the other language of her mother, Filipino.

Weaknesses:

~her left arm and leg aren't the same as they were before due to her accident
~her "alienation" from a normal school society, since she is always in front of a computer and only communicating via emails and Yahoo Messenger
~her terrible sense of balance (which is why she should not ride a bike in ANY case)
~claustrophobic (fear of tight, enclosed spaces)
~lygophobic (fear of the darkness)
~she can hold grudges against people who make her angry

History: Borm to Vincent Arcturus Valentine, an American staying in Ireland for business pertaining to his inter-continental company, and Rosemary Pamaran Locke, a half-Filipino housewife living in Dublin. She was barely two years old when her own mother died in a car crash, and her father, a businessman who has his own company stationed in the United States, decided to take her along with him as he traveled around the world.

When she was a little older, around five years old, she started asking where her mother was, and why she wasn't with the two of them: all her father could say that she was home, but he never said anything else, unable to tell her the truth. Realizing that she was useful, he then proceeded to teach her himself, and eventually introduced her to the world of business at the age of nine years old. Young as she was, she was blessed with her mother's intelligence, which made her learning and progression through the educational world fast- though it was mostly through online classes.

At the same time, due to the nature of her father's business trips, Emily learned the language of the local countries firsthand, which explains her being multi-lingual, though at a young age.

At the age of twelve, she was with her father, who was by this time in Russia, dealing with some transactions, when she was told that she would become his adviser to his comapny, and she readily agreed... not knowing the consequences that would follow. While they were in Russia for a few months, she was walking around Moscow's snowy streets, alone, she felt a sudden heaviness pressing down on her. Looking around, she saw that it was dark, very dark, and that it was weighing down on her.

Why is it so dark?! I thought there were... lights... she thought in a panic, looking around her, seeing that all the lights around her had gone out. I... can't see... a thing...

As it turned out, her mind had started playing tricks on her, and that she had wandered away from the usual thoroughfares, and she found herself in a tight alleyway shrouded in darkness, and that her feet had taken her there without her realizing it. Crying out, she felt the space shrinking around her fast, and she made a fast run for it, back to the main street, where it there were lights, and the place had seemingly stretched out to its normal proportions.

She make a run for the hotel where the two of them were staying, taking the stairs (since she feared that if she took teh elevator, the small space would swallow her whole) and immediately ran to their room, throwing herself into the arms of her father, shaking in fear. After trying to regain her bearings, she told him about what she had experienced: that the darkness almost swallowed her whole, as well as the feeling of enclosedness that was threatening to squeeze her into a tiny speck. After this occurrence, she always slept with the lights on, and took the stairs whenever they would go to any place they would be staying at.

As she turned eighteen, her father took her home to Ireland, and took her to the cemetery where her mother was buried, and here he told her everything that had happened while she was still a kid. Many tears fell that day, and she had a silent resolution: to show ho her dead mother that she is worthy of her love, although not physically present, and that she would stick by her father no matter what happens.

While they were in China when she was twenty, again for a few months on business, she was riding a bike, but seeing as she had an awful sense of balance since it was her first time on a bicycle, she couldn't control the pedals and crashed into a car that was right in front of her, sending her flying through the air and landing right on top of the car's windshield, breaking half the bones in her left arm, as well as twisting her left leg, also with several broken bones.

She was then rushed to the hospital, where she had suffered the said injuries, as well as a concussion, and slipped into a coma for two and a half months. Her father was scared that he would lose her too, and during this lapse, Emily suffered the pain of being trapped in the darkness, alone and very much frightened of what would happen to her within that crushing darkness.

After she had woken up, and seen her father's very worried face, he decided that they were to move to another country, this time, Japan, for her therapy- since one of his colleagues had recommended the country as one of the high-end places for health.

During the time Emily was bedridden, her determination for her education did not fade, and she practically insisted that her father enroll her in one of Asia's well-known universities, in a course of her choosing: Legal Management. Her father consented, and during the months wherein she couldn't walk, she had a laptop in front of her, studying from it- she wasn't going to allow anyone else replace her as her father's adviser to his transactions, believing that if someone else came into the picture, her father might change for the worse, and not listen to her advice anymore.

Two years passed since her injury and that they had temporarily settled down in Japan, and she had to endure the painful physical therapy, since her left leg had been rendered amost useless, and also with her left arm (she uses the laptop with only her right hand, and the pain whenever she moved her left wrist drove her almost insane), she never thought that she would walk again, the scene of her accident playing out in her mind every night before she fell asleep

After her therapy was over (though she couldn't move her left arm and her left leg like before, and she now walked with a slight limp), her father had taken a liking to the Japanese landscape, and was thinking of setting up a branch of his business there when another thing happened to Emily: a decision that she didn't know would turn out good for her, in a way.

Emily wanted to stay in the country, but still studying through online courses (by this time, she had already graduated, and is now taking a post-graduate course, still in Legal Management). After this decision was agreed to by her father, she then started going out on her own, looking around.... until she met this girl with sapphire-blue hair and also with the same sapphire-colored eyes, a girl named Rinnaki.

The two became best friends from the moment they met, and they confided much in each other. She knows of her young friend's secret, and in turn, she told Rinnaki her own secrets- the two became as close as real-blooded sisters, though they are of different backgrounds and races.

It was during one time when there was a power outage in the general area which also included the place where Emily and her father were staying, that Emily discovered her powers. The darkness seemed to press down on her like it was crushing her own spirit. Looking around, and seeing little, those olden memories of her past started to surface once again. Crying out, she whimpered, "Please... give me some light... any light will do..."

The tears were falling faster than she could control them, and before she could control it, there was a portal of white light in front of her, emanating that light she was asking for deep down in her heart, through her fear of darkness. Surprised, she looked at it in wonder, and saw that the light it was emitting was comforting to her, although it also brought back her old memories of being trapped in darkness.

Her best friend, Rinnaki, happened to be with her at the time, and she was not far, in another room looking for a candle and matches, when she saw a faint light in the room where Emily was, cowering in fear. Looking around the corner, she saw that there was a Gate swirling in front of Emily, and that it was giving off a light that illuminated her darkness. Surprised, Emily looked and saw the source of her light, and in that semi-darkness, saw her best friend's face illuminated a few feet away from her.

Recognizing that Emily also had Gate powers, she then told her of her other secret: that she was an AEGIS agent, who uses her own Gatekeeping powers to fight off the Invaders that appear in the country every now and then. At that same moment when Emily's Gate was still emitting a faint light, her father came home, and saw the light.

After a thorough explanation by Rinnaki, Vincent agreed that Emily be recruited into AEGIS, as long as she stayed with her best friend, who would then inform the people in charge that she had recruited a Gatekeeper, but with a power that even Rinnaki didn't know- Emily is classified as a Gatekeeper "In Training", since she is still trying to learn and understand her new powers, and how it was connected to her depression and sad memories.

Before Emily could be officially inducted as an AEGIS agent, the Far Eastern branch's destruction set her (as well as everyone within AEGIS) back, which made her doubt that she could even be trained properly. She then asked her father's permission if she could relocate to Europe with the rest of the Agents, and he agreed. Before she left, he gave her something special- a necklace with a locket that belonged to her mother. Seeing that it was important to him, she refused to take it, but he insisted, and it is now with her, a reminder of who she was, who she is, and who she will be.

Special Attacks:

Primary:

Spark Generation: Upon opening the Gate, Emily can create a spark of bright light, which she can use either to illuminate dark passageways (Sparks of the Way), or to send towards her enemies, blinding and stunning them (Lights of the North, and Fireworks of Bright).

Cooldown is immediate, as she uses up one spark of light, she can create another, so long as her limit does not exceed six sparks (one sphere taking up 15% of her energy- six sparks taking up 90% of her energy, draining her almost to the point of death).

Secondary:

Sparks of the Way: After creating one spark of light, Emily can use them for one purpose: to light up dark passageways. She can create up to three Sparks, each consuming 15% of her energy, and she can keep them shining as long as she has energy within her. For darker ways, she can summon two, up to three, to offer proper illumination for her team-mates.

Cooldown is one post each for one Sparks of the Way created. If she creates three Sparks, the cooldown extends to three posts.

Fireworks of Bright: After using her Spark Generation, Emily can use the created light spark to create a sudden flash of light over a wide area (3 meters radius), simulating the effect of exploding fireworks. This technique is mostly used for diversionary tactics.

Cooldown for this technique is two posts, since the light generated by this spark takes up 25% of her energy (the additional 10% generated is consumed for the offensive purposes). She can only use this technique up to a maximum of three times, on which her fourth spark drains her energy completely.

Lights of the North: After using her Spark Generation, Emily can use the spark she has created to blind an opponent with the sudden burst of light in the enemies' faces. The effect of the sudden burst of light can temporarily blind the enemy for three posts, and has a chargetime of three posts.

The energy she uses for this attack is 30%, considering the fact that the additional 15% is used for the power of this attack. She can only use three sparks for this attack, as they take up a lot of her energy, and the cooldown for these sparks of blinding light, are three posts.

Special Items:

~AEGIS ID
~Her passport
~Her laptop which was given by her father
~The locket which her father gave her (when opened, it has a picture of her family, and the name "Rosemary" engraved on the back)

Trivia:

~She is studying to become a lawyer.

~She CANNOT ride a bike, or anything else that requires balance- if you want a death wish, go ahead and ask her to drive a tricycle (the kind without an engine) and she'll turn the car on its side within five minutes.

~If you call her by her second name, Vincent, you'll get a punch in the nose for doing that. If you want to call her, you should go for 'Emily' or 'Em' (but she only lets Rinnaki call her Em).

May I add? Skimmed over your history...

Though she is close to Rinnaki, her relation is only a friend? Another is that what are your thoughts on the recent events on the FE Branch. How did you react?

When exactly did your Gate come out...?

Amazing how she was able to run away from several attackers. Also, run this through word please. There are a few tenses here and there that seem out of place.

Your trivia are quite long.

Ok, lemme start again. There are some unnecessary details on your history. Its quite lengthy. 6 months? You recovered quite fast, noting the fact that some of your limbs were damaged. It also could cause a trauma for you during that accident which makes recovering harder.

You were cornered by three thugs? I assume no one else is around and you didn't scream for help? With the way it was written, it seemed like you voluntarily let them take you into an alley. I find this unnecessary... Why don't you change it into something that could trigger your gate.

The fear of darkness...

When did that fear start? It just seemed to suddenly appear out of nowhere. Plus, she was in a safe place. Meaning, there were people around her that she could trust. Rinnaki and her father right?

The trauma wasn't that strong to suddenly let the Gate appear. In your whole history, that fear of the dark was mentioned only just before her Gate appeared.

And I repeat... Rinnaki is your best friend right? Why is she only friends with you? Shouldn't she be somewhat cordial since you two are quite close... Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks.
